Sex Change by spell - possible?

Does anyone know if it would be possible to create a (presumably scripted) spell that could change the sex of NPCs (or the player)?

I know there is a 'sexchange' console command, but it causes crashes and stability issues see here - near bottom of page.

For the player just type

 

showracemenu

 

then set your character to male and hit done.

Thanks, but do you know how to safely apply it to NPCs? (preferably in a way that could be made into a spell or power?)

I don't think you can "safely" change an NPC in game. There is just too much information that you would have to provide\supply in such a spell. You are far better off just changing them via the CS than trying to create such a spell.

I changed nearly all the NPCs in the zone in my Kill Sally video to female using the console command, and it didn't have any game-breaking result. Granted they were all in one zone and went away once I uninstalled the mod, but it was stable while I filmed the scenes and ran the dungeon over and over doing it. As I recall, and I just disabled and then immediately re-enabled the NPC, which bypassed the need to reload from save and got immediate results.

I am wondering if you do this to quest npc's if it doesn't just totally screw things up. I can see bandits and "filler" npc's being just fine but I seriously question it working for everyone.

 

Now I could be wrong (and often am) but seems I would have heard more about this if it was safe to do on every npc in the game.

Thanks everybody, I had vague ideas about making a sex change spell, but it looks like it'd be more trouble that it's worth.
