custom armor on NPC works, on player CTD

ok so Im working on some armors in Max, adding a TBBP body and TBBP weightpainting to the armor and normally have no problems.

 

but on a few of them I CTD when I try them on

but my followers can wear them with out any problem ..?

 

I have already tried adding 1stperson to the name of the armors nif

still CTD.

 

I double checked the body slots and they are the same as

the orignal armors I am working from.

 

im weightpainting to and using xp32's maximum skeleton

 

any clues as to what I should check next ?

the orignal armor "baronb anubis" from Ryu's Stash of Conversions doesn't use/have any 1stpersonarmor nif's in his mod

and looks to use a default fur world item

but I copy/paste renamed my version just in case that was the problem

not sure if 1 is even needed

 

so No, I didn't and not sure if Ryu did as he didnt make any (i'll check that now)

 

and no, 1stperson armor is a direct copy paste and rename with 1stperson

added to the front of the armors name so it still has my breast weightpainting.

 

I just put Ryu's orignal armors back in to double check and player can wear them with no problem.

so Im still not sure about even needed 1stperson or not

 

or are they always needed?

removed weightpainting from 1stperson armor and body

and pointed the Female's 1stperson in ARMA to it

 

still CTD

 

think I may start from scratch as that armor has 13 different meshes

(not including the body) and I may have missed a skin wrap.

though first I may try coping it to daedric armor and make sure its

even playable

 

Hmm yep i can wear it as daedric armor so the mesh does work

and it is checked as playable in the esp

 

I may just try making a new esp for it

(i just hate the CK LOL)

Once you export the 1st person mesh, check in nifskope if any breast bones are there.

 

If there are click spells at the top left of nifskope, then go to optimize and click "remove bogus nodes".

 

If nothing happens or the breast bones are still there then it is still weighted to them and you will have to go back to max to hunt them down and remove them.

 

 

And i share your hate for the CK.

ok done cleaned 1stperson breastbones.

none in the nif

 

still CTD on equip :(

 

the butt bones and pussy bones are still there in 1stperson nif

do those also need to go ?

 

and would it be better if I just removed everything except for the arms

and bracelets on the arms and used that as the 1stperson mesh.

While "I" thought it was a problem and needed to be fixed, I had an issue with 1st person with my forms where my forms in 1st person had breasts that if you looked down took up half the screen. Now unless you really want the armor to show up when you look down at it in 1st person, you could simply try a different body that works with xp32's skeleton like I did. It is a naked body but since all the meshes for the armor are gone and the breast size is greatly reduced, I was able to get nothing but the arms to show up in 1st person, as I wanted it ( trying an ARM only 1st person didn't seem to work, as none of them seem to use the skeleton ).

 

Don't know if this would help you at all but it might be worth a shot.

instead of tring a second time to make a new 1stperson mesh

I tried the 1stpersondaedrictorsof_0.nif

 

since it works as a deadric replacer

I borrowed the 1stpersondaedrictorsof_0 and 1 and placed

it in the anubis folder and renamed it to 1stpersonanubis H_0 and 1

and that seems to do the trick :)

 

I guess I could edit the esp

and point all 1stperson to use the 1stpersondaedrictorsof

that way I would not have to make any

though granted any thing on the anubis arms

would not show up if I did that (unless I add them to it in Max)

and may not work everytime

I've been having a similar issue. I'm reworking some of Alan's BBP armor conversions to fit my TBBP body. Whenever I use them as the armor they are supposed to be, I CTD on equip. However, I can rename the mesh to an armor not included in the pack and it will work fine.

 

I went back through the .esps and pointed all I plan on reworking to the default bare-armed 1st person nif (something like 1stpersonfemale_0.nif in the character assets folder). This solved my CTD issue. It seems like a decent one to use if you don't have/need/care about seeing armor on your arms. Planning on using this one until I can get around to removing the breast bones from past meshes and while I work on future ones.

 

Editing the .esp file may be your only way to go for some armors. I've noticed a lot of mod authors don't include a 1st person mesh. Instead they simply tell the esp to use the normal body armor which, as we've both seen, can cause problems when we try to do what we're trying to do.
