On a warm Mojave night, Katie and Amber decided to go on a romantic walk through the desert near Novac. With Katie being a Ranger, they weren't worried about anything going wrong. Once they got to a scenic site, Amber took off her coat and revealed a new see-through negligee she'd bought from a merchant. Just as they were about to have an intimate moment, Katie noticed something nearby. Looking around, she was blinded by a bright blue flash of light. The moment she was hit, she was overwhelmed with an intense pain in her stomach. Grabbing it, she felt it expand rapidly, and could swear something was moving inside of her. Amber, shocked by the sight, couldn't evade the second flash as it came speeding at her. She, too, witnessed her belly expand rapidly, paired with a hellish pain.
It was only when Katie bowed over her lover that she could see the figure which had done this to them. From the shadows, a shining silver figure appeared, and with unhumanly gestures it pointed at the pair. Katie was quick to realize the weapon the figure held had caused the rapid expansion. Her eyes opened wide as the figure raised it once more. Although her first instinct would be to dodge, she couldn't bear to watch her girlfriend's pain extend even further, and quickly placed herself between the figure and her girlfriend. Ready to face the worst, she watched as the next bright flash closed in on her.
