Why not just include penis texture with the bottom?

Recommended Posts

I've tested this out by appending textures as overlays on the clothing bottom for the penis mesh. So my question is, why aren't the textures put in with the bottom instead as separate tattoos/skin details? It's much easier, and makes each Sim compatible with different penises. (I can use UN soft with LE hard on one sim with no textures being wonky) And I don't have to keep track of which Sim should have which penis. It also makes the "Randomize All Sims Penis" option useless, as they'll all just get penises with messed up textures.

I understand it's useful to make different coloration on the penises, but for that, you can also just use a tattoo to recolor the spot and still have it usable on every overlay texture. I guess you can also have different textures with different veins or whatever, but no one's really making them so there's really no point. Who knows though -- maybe there is an actual technical reason everyone is putting the textures separate, and if there is, please I'd like to know, I don't know all that much about how making CC works.

Anyway, it's just my thoughts and suggestions. I've already edited the files of all the penises I have so I don't have to deal with the headaches of adding the tattoos on every single Sim. I suggest you all do the same, remember to have "CompositionMethod" set to 3 so the texture works as an overlay. I won't upload my edits because I don't own them, but It's fairly easy to just extract the overlays using Sims4Studio. If you need help just ask what you need, I can walk you through it.

Also, anyone looking to make new penis meshes, if you don't mind please including it as part of the penis bottom instead as a separate tattoo. Or even make two versions.(Unless of course there is an actual technical reason to keep the textures separate I know nothing about...) It's not a demand just a request, I don't mind editing it myself as it's kinda fun. :D

Yes, it'll take on the skin tone. However, if you have a texture on a layer above that takes up the same space, like for instance a top texture, then the penis will take on the texture of the shirt. But I don't think any shirts take up the regular penis space - except for Pornstar by Noir. I had to individually move the UV map for all 8 of them into the regular spot. It didn't take that long though, 30 minutes tops.

Sounds like you did a great work. I will like to see some screenshots of your modificated versions. Also it works only with the game skins or with custom skins too? For me is really important keep the quality of the textures and use my models with custom skins. If you find a way I hope to do the same with this and with new ones.

Well, then it sounds like setting the 'CompositionMethod' to 3 doesn't do anything. What is the benefit of it being an overlay if the occupied texture space can still override skin texture designated for the penis model? Just the UV map set in the least likely conflicting spot is enough to make it work, isn't that right?

Well it's just useful since the texture is part of the bottom, you can't choose the color. To have it match the skin, it'll need to be an overlay.

It'll work only on skins that have the bottom right corner colored in with the same color as the rest of the skin. Not even EA skins have this feature. Both Better Body and UntraditionalNerd have their penis meshes rely on edited skin defaults. I'd post screenshots, but I have no idea where to upload that accepts NSFW works.
