My downloaded Mods arn't showing up in game play

So, I'm super new, and I've downloaded not only the base mod but a lot of the other ones for extra animations. I have the base mod working but the other ones, the other ones aren't working. So, what do I do to fix that? I've downloaded it, and turned on then off then on my sims game but it still won't show. Please help?
