Random CTDs - please help

I often get CTDs almost anywhere in the game, interiors, exteriors and even in my inventory. I have 223 mods running and I need some help narrowing down what's causing the CTDs.

Most of these mods are required for me to enjoy the game but if it can make a difference in the number of CTDs I'll remove just about anything.

No, that has never given me a CTD as I recall.

Well, I think a quick test is in order.  If you're outside and have discover the Wayward Pass then fast travel there and activate the Shrine of Arkay.

 

If you haven't discover the Wayward Pass yet then take a look at this map.  It lies in the mountain between Alftand in the North and Nightgate Inn in the South.

 

Should you get a CTD when activating the shrine then try to deactivate the Better Dynamic Snow.esp and activate the shrine a second time.

 

If you doesn't get a CTD the second time then it's likely the Better Dynamic Snow mod that has a conflict with one or more mods in your loadorder, so I just want to save you some time instead trying this or that in order to find what's causing a CTD by deactivating the Better Dynamic Snow.esp.

I've started a new game because I was just in the beginning and I can activate that shrine without any problems with dynamic snow installed, but thanks for your input. I also ran a stress test with speed 1000 + tcl and I could fly from The Shrine of Azura to Markarth with only a few stutters on cell transitions. It didn't crash until I got close to Riverwood but I will look into that more. I didn't really do much, except uninstalled a few mods that I decided to go without, mainly TKCombat and downgraded Skyrim Flora Overhaul to Basic version.

 

On my previous game I started with v2.5 of SFO, which is a very demanding mod, so I tried downgrading in the middle of a playthrough. I don't know if that can cause any CTDs, but I also had a few mods with scripts temporarily in my game and that was probably not a good idea. I know that some mods can leave traces of scripts in your savegame and even if I used SaveTool to clean my save it didn't make the game more stable.
