Anything like Angrim's Apprentice?

So I like the way Skyrim makes you feel like Billy-Bad-Ass, but its also starting to bug me a little. Specifically this is the case regarding Wizardry. So the College in Winterhold starts off like an actual Mage school and teaches you a few spells...then it thrusts you into the world and everything you learn is via Spellbooks. Ultimately, a boring mechanic.

 

My question is, is there anything for Spellcasters that is like Angrim's Apprentice? By that I mean having an NPC that teaches you new spells?
