FO3, FONV, Skyrim, MMD etc. : documented Skeleton Design rules?

is there any information out there how a skeleton has to be built and which incompatibility issues exits between these animation platforms.

 

Well, I could import them to Blender and go figuring out what differences are and how IK is implemented like re-inventing a wheel.

 

BTW, it seems that the same skeleton.nif is used for all kind of characters in FO3. Any ideas on how it get trimmed for gender and age?
