Tuning
Please Download the MonocoDoll's Vile Ventures (Drug Tunable Guide). As this will give instructions on how to make a tunable edit and explain each current tunable.

Conflicts
Since this is a Script mod, there should not be any conflicts. However, it is recommended not to have The DrugLord mod by brando130 installed with this mod. As it seems to make your sim unclickable if your sim were to receive any moodlet which would temporarily replace a sims trait. This can happen with any of my custom moodlets that changes traits temporarily or any of the non modded moodlets which temporarily change traits.

Inspiration
Basemental Drugs Mod For The Sims 4 MonocoDoll's Vile Ventures was very much inspired by Basemental's Drug Mod. It should be noted, that I actually never played Basemental Drugs, but I loved reading their great guides. And would have most likely enjoyed it had I decided to continue playing TS4 after I moved to PC gaming.

Great idea! I enjoyed Basemental Drugs when I used to play TS4 since it added some fun gameplay to a game that was sorely lacking any, so I'll definitely give this a try in my next playthrough.

There is some drug stuff in Kinky World. Does this mod integrate/interact with that at all, or will it essentially be 2 separate drug systems running in parallel if we're running both mods?

Posted

Thank you for such a great job! Buying drugs in a store for ordinary citizens .. It doesn 't seem quite natural to me . It could have been done in a criminal den . I'm sorry for my bias.

Posted

Looks very promising, going to give this a try in addition to your other, related mod. Would also be interested to hear whether this has any interaction with KinkyWorld's drug system. If not, might I suggest something that merges the drugs from that into this mod's systems? (Perhaps replace the KW Cannabis with a strain from this one, or something along those lines, if that's possible.)

This is fantastic, thank you so much for your hard work on this!

I have a question: is there some way to remove a felony from a Sim? A Sim of mine was arrested and I saw a very strange series of interactions; they'd never enter the police station while in handcuffs and the officer and my Sim would "soft-reset" a few times, then I'd get messages about both serving time in jail *and* house arrest. So I suspect something went wrong there.

If there is no way to remove a felony, can I instead ask which careers a Sim will be fired from if they have one?

@Loveternity

Hello,

Hope you are doing well. As of this moment, the Felony is permanent. Therefore any job that isn't either the Criminal, Culinary, Military, Part Time Bookstore Clerk, Part Time Grocery Store Clerk, Part Time Mausoleum, Part Time Clothing Store Clerk, Part Time Day Spa Receptionist, Part Time Day Spa Specialist, Part Time Alient Test Subject, or the Film career.  Will cause the sim to be fired.

For your issues with the getting arrested. May you give more context of your arrest? Like which activity you were doing, what was in your inventory, What was your sims location? Was it a police raid? Was it an arrest after the cops were called when attempting to deal? This context would help me look into the issue and actually possibly solve any bugs if there are any. As of this moment me and my tester have not had any issues with arrests.

If I remember correctly my Sim was trying to sell drugs at a friend's party. The target Sim was offended, wanted to call the cops and I had my Sim try to intimidate them (which failed). Cop came and picked her up, she had plenty of drugs in her inventory (mostly MDMA pill bottles if I recall). They got properly taken away during the botched attempts at taking my Sim to the station.

Huh, after reading your job list I'm even more confident something went wrong; because my Sim keeps getting fired from the Criminal career (I even picked up the Professional Slacker reward, doesn't work for this) and the Stylist profession. That's right, "fired" from professions too.

I also noticed during that save that her heat level wouldn't get reduced by laundering money at all. Laying low did work strangely enough (until it got to level 2, then was no longer available).

Worth noting; this is all with Kinkyworld installed, which is notorious for causing all sorts of mayhem when other mods try to do their thing, so this isn't necessarily a bug with your mod. I'm going to start a new game, again with this mod and KW. Then if I see more strange behavior I'll try to replicate it without KW.

I'll be curious to hear about your findings. I haven't given this mod a try yet because I've been concerned about potential conflicts with KW, and also about the potential performance impact of introducing it into an already script-heavy mod list.

@Loveternity

I went ahead and took another peak at the code in regards to the sims getting fired due to felonies. As of this moment, there was a simple coding error. This will be fixed in the next update. It may take a bit. Since I will be introducing some minor miscellaneous features. But as of this moment, sims who have felonies are unemployabale. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

In Regards to the heat level. Due to the two methods most likely reducing the heat level lower to 0. The methods to reducing heat by laundering money won't reduce the heat level further. This is to prevent your heat level from going in the negatives. A heat level of 2 won't cause any problems. If your Low Heat Threshold Tunable is higher than your Heat, then you do not need to worry about a house raid or a Racket raid. Which by default is 20.

In regards to the getting arrested situation. Would you mind elobarating further. What exactly was botched? Was the cop able to succesfully arrive at your sims destination? Did the officer cuff your sim and take them to the police vehicle? Did they successfully drive to the station destination? Did the sim step out of the vehicle and get out of their handcuffs and then walked to the station? Sorry for being picky here. But I genuinely need to know this in order to find an error if there is one here. I did test my arrest function when you had reported it and my sim was arrested without botches. Any info would help tremendously.

In regards to KW. To the best of my knowledge. It shouldn't conflict. Since the Vile Ventures mod is a script mod. I'm not too familiar whether KW is a core or script mod. But only core mods can conflict with each other.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm definetly more motivated to finish my small miscellaneous features update out. Just so I can fix that felony error.

Everything went smoothly until they arrived outside the police station and got out of the police car. At that point the interaction on my Sim would cancel repeatedly, that's what I was referring to as a "soft-reset". This resulted in a repeat of the cop trying to arrest my Sim and get them to the station to no avail. Then after a few repeats I got the messages about serving time for 5 days and a house arrest, at which point they got back in the car and my Sim was dropped off to her house.

My guess; something autonomous was interruping that sequence (KW autonomy?). If the intended result was a house arrest it worked, my Sim got buffs about serving time and being at home when the buff expires. The house arrest buff stayed for 24 hours, the serving time buff stayed indefinitely.

Good to know that getting fired had nothing to do with a KW conflict though, that was the bigger issue really. The heat level being prevented from going to negatives makes sense, I was just too paranoid that it broke too after that arrest haha.

@Loveternity

I'm unfamiliar with KW Autonomy. But if the KW was trying to cause the cop npc that was spawned to do something else, that may interrupt the flow of the scenario. Which in this case may have messed up the arrest scenario. Which may be why in my case it works fine, but in your case it may not go so smoothly. In your case, it sounds like your sim was suppose to receive the 5 days in prison sentence. Especially since they had a bunch of drugs. I tested my arrest functions in free will autonomy for sims and the officer has never been interupted during this sequence. So maybe KW autonomy just forces sims to override their interaction queue.

If you do get the chance to test my mod without KW, I would genuinely appreciate your results. That way we know whether or not KW messes with the arrest scenario. I would test it myself, but I use passion instead. I look forward to finding out how the results play out without KW this time. Thanks for finding the felony bug and have a great weekend.

It sounds like you aren't familiar at all with one of the more popular Sims 3 mods. 'Whether or not' there are integration problems. If I had to choose sex w/drugs or drugs w/no sex - I think most know which loses out.

Whether you choose to investigate this yourself or not, be advised because of the conflicts between NRaas and Kinkyworld that the KW author simply made it so KW is the LAST thing to Activate/Install when a save using it is loaded - everything pauses and KW is finished before the player can continue. This effectively steps on any other code up to this point. It would have been nice if it hadn't taken this heavy handed approach but sometimes to avoid conflict you must declare a winner.

Started a new game, but haven't gotten arrested yet since I do want my Sim to be employed (but I really should see if I can replicate that bug and simply exit without saving).

However, I seem to have encountered another bug. Not with Ventures actually, but Arms Dealing mod. When my Sim got to level 5, I got the message about being able to get guns from military. So I looked for Sims that are employed in that career and surprisingly they seem to be unselectable for my Sim.

I got curious as to what would happen if I were to access their family tree and right click on their portrait (which would open up all available interactions supposedly). Instead nothing happened and I got a MasterController script error which I will post here in case it helps:

Did a very quick test of getting arrested: this time it worked flawlessly with KW enabled. Maybe it was a one-off thing, or maybe something really specific can mess things up. This time my Sim had little drugs on her, she was only sentenced for 1 day in prison (whereas the bugged attempt gave her 5 days and house arrest at once).

@Loveternity

Appreciate you for reporting the bug for the Arms Dealing mod. The bug is now fixed. You can download the new version of the Arms Dealing mod on MTS.

@Loveternity
Huh, that is rather odd. I did a quick test on my end to verify that the 5 Day Prison Sentence works properly. During the test I was able to get arrested for 5 days in prison. I had a bunch of Meth Packages in my sims inventory. Although, I'm glad to hear that it seems to work with KW. I know there may be some that wish to utilize both mods. So for them that is great if everything works all well together.

After playing a bit more I noticed a couple of oddities. Don't worry, nothing gamebreaking, just things to keep in mind for whenever the mod is updated:

1) My Sim had her boyfriend move in and she can sell drugs to him as part of the same household. That still makes "dirty" money appear in her inventory and her skill goes up. I think the same goes for guns.

2) They got "busy"... and their first baby is born. To my surprise, I could select the Arms Dealer and Drugs Dealer traits for the baby. They are not selectable in CAS, yet they are selectable at birth.

@Loveternity

Went ahead and made some edits. Both bugs have been fixed for the Vile Ventures mod. The patch for these bugs won't be up until I finish the next update. Thanks again for reporting both bugs.

Found another minor bug: my Sim has maxed her Logic skill, so she can tutor other Sims in skills. When that option is selected I can see two blank text "bubbles" which I assume are the options for Arms Dealing/Drug Dealing skills.

Worth noting; despite the bugs I've mentioned I'm having a blast with this mod, thank you again for making this!
