Invisible horses - Visible manes

Recommended Posts

As title suggests, all my horses are invisible, only the mane is visible.

I tried downloading horse textures using the horse overhaul mod to fix it, it worked for a while, but now they are invisible again, regardless of load order.

The only conflicts MO2 seems to show is the xpmse skeleton, but no matter how i change  their orders it makes no difference.

Honestly stumped. Sick of pony'ing around. Come on mane i just wanna fix this dumb bug

seriously though, has anyone had this problem? its getting quite annoying

Invisible != missing textures.

Blue = missing textures.

Anyhow, considering the mane is part of the horse mesh that means that either:

  1. You have a mod that alters the horses and that's most likely your issue.
  2. The horse texture itself is transparent (unlikely).

Edit: Nevermind, the mane is a different shape so it may have its own textures etc.

I'd start by doing this:

  1. Find an invisible horse.
  2. Create a save.
  3. Open the console.
  4. Select the horse.
  5. "unequipall" (undocumented for whatever reason)

If the horse becomes visible, load an earlier save, and:

  1. Open the console.
  2. Select the horse.
  3. "inv" (undocumented for whatever reason)
  4. Make a list of the items, especially those marked as worn.
  5. Unequip each item one by one: "unequipitem <id>"
  6. When you find the item that makes the horse invisible, locate it in xEdit.
  7. Determine why its making the horse invisible.

Edit again: If none of this works, open the horse mesh in NifSkope and see what it looks like. If you have no horse mesh mod, extract it from the vanilla bsa files first then inspect it, in case there *is* something weird going on with the textures.
