https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19080?tab=files

Request:

I am not a gifted screen archer,  If anyone wants to submit some screenshots I'd love to use some of them.

There may be some issues with the bodyslide, I'm trying to move on from uunp to some of the more modern stuff but still learning.  Let me know if there are any problems with the more extreme body types.

Really nice to see this mod for SE!

I checked the file in xEdit, and the plugin for the stand-alone version seems to have some redundant masters?

ccBGSSSE001-Fish.esm

ccBGSSSE025-AdvDSGS.esm

ccBGSSSE037-Curious.esl

ccQDRSSE001-SurvivalMode.esl

These don't seem to be used by the mod, is this correct? I tried removing them as masters and the heels still seem to work in-game.

Oh ya those definitely aren't needed, I think creation kit just decided to tie them in on it's own. Those are the built in mods that come with steam's special editions.  The only thing needed are the base game and the unofficial patch

Posted a new version that should be fixed, I'm totally new to xEdit, but it seems to have done the job.

Somehow the heels with sound doesent work. I downloadet both versions, installed both (think that was necesary) but if i deactivate the one without heel sound there are no heels, if i have both active the armor has heels, but no sound.  I am not realy good at mooding, maybe there are some issues with other mods?

At a glance you have what you need.  In regards to which version to use, there are two versions of the mod.

The one with sound creates a new set of heels that you must craft or add via console.   I suspect that the issue is the misunderstanding between the two versions.

The replacer version replaces all boots in the game in with high heel versions when worn by females.  The replacer version can't have sound without causing men's boots to play high heel footstep sound.   This version is really intended for to make  every female NPC have heels, and make heels lootable, since regular boots just look like high heels when equipped.

Is there something special that must be done in order to be able to craft the heels? Or are the recipes learned by default upon installation? Have the non-replacer version installed.

If memory servers there are no special requirements beyond the normal crafting requirements for a similar vanilla. I'm pretty sure I made it so that you need the associated perk for them to show up in your crafting list.

You can always use a console command's like help "heels" and additem to cheat them into your inventory if you are testing.

I've been able to get it with the AddItemMenu with no problems. But for some reason the recipes are not showing up when interacting with the forge regardless of the perks. Might have something to do with adding this mod mid playthrough.

I found a fix. If you download the older version of the mod here on LL, the mod works as intended with heel sounds.
Here is the link should anyone in the future encounter this same issue. Hopefully the mod author will update this post in the future.

I'm still around but not actively playing/developing.  Thanks for the tip, I updated the frontpage to help people find the correct files.

I cant seem to craft the heels. There isn't a recipe when I go to the forge for them. I can spawn them in through simple item menu but they don't show up in the crafting menu. Nothing is overwriting it and they've got the sound file they need. it also makes my regular boots have the heel model but no sound. I assume its a bug related to AE?

I don't have a skyrim install set up so I can't test much, but this sounds like you may have a misunderstanding of the installation, that part is easy to fix.

There are two files in the downloads section. The intent is for you to only install one (although you could technically install both, their just isn't a reasonable use-case for that). They are described in the mod description here.

Dark Wing's Heels SE with sound : Stand alone craftable (includes footstep sound)

Dark Wing's Heels SE replacer : Replaces vanilla armor boots with new models, male character use normal boots (no sound)

The first creates a new type of item in the game that is the boot, the second replaces the default boot armors appearance to make them appear and function as high heels.

If you use the first version you must craft or generate the boots.  They have the same crafting requirements as similar armor items, so if you are level 1 you may not be able to craft them without the requisite perks.  There is no support for male characters wearing the boots (it will probably bug out or appear as invisible).  This version is ideal if you only want specific female characters to be wearing high heels.

If you use the second version the regular iron/steel/ect. boots you pick up in game will appear as high heels when worn by female characters, the same boots will appear as normal boots on male characters.  All that is swapped out is the file that dictates what the boots look like when worn be a female character.  This version is ideal if you want every single female character to be wearing high heels, or if you want high heels to be distributed in the world as lootable items.

To understand your sound issue, what you need to understand how armor works in the background of Skyrim.  There are two files that the Skyrim game engine looks at, one (armor file) that dictates how the armor functions, its armor, cost, crafting requirements, SOUND, ect.  There is a second file (armoraa) that dictates what the armor looks like (it separately points at the actual model files that determine how the armor looks, it provides separate options for models fitted to male and female bodies.  The replacer version of my mod edits the armoraa that dictates how the armor looks.  Note that it is the armor file not the armoraa that controls sound, and that armor files are not gender specific.  I COULD design a replacer version of the mod that overwrites the armor file with high heel sounds, but then male characters would also play that sound when walking.  Ultimately I decided it was better to just stick with the default sounds.  The craftable heels don't have this problem since instead of replacing the default skyrim boots they create a new armor file and a new armoraa file.  There isn't a male use-case there so the sound conflict becomes a non-issue.
