Being able to click on normal objects while in animation ?

Hi everyone - When 2 sims are in an animation, I swear there is a setting that allows you to click on objects for their normal use? So for example if I wanted to use the a tripod and camera to take pictures (solely sfw pictures ofc lol) - how would I do that? I've done it before and it's just driving me nuts that I can't find that setting again. Thanks so much!
