A different head texture problem.

I've only started noticing this recently. I'm used to seeing the textures on people's head being different but this is different. Only the top of the head is a different color and its green for darker skin characters and dark brown for lighter skin characters. Has anyone else noticed this?

I tried fixing it via the Creation Kit but it doesn't seem to work, although I could have done it wrong.

That is most likely the "coloured forehead" bug from the CK, one of several texture bugs caused by the CK not always handling modded tintmasks well. Here's how to avoid it:

 

 - Before opening your CK to monkey around with the bugged mod, *TEMPORARILY* remove the "tintmasks" (ie: makeup, etc.) folder from: ...\Skyrim\Data\Textures\actors\character\character assets.

 

 - When you're done & have exported the facegen, saved, etc., close the CK and put the tintmasks folder BACK where you found it.

 

I *ALWAYS* do this as a matter of course when using the CK, and it works just fine. :)

 

Now, if it's someone else's broken mod & you're trying to fix it in your own game, you may need to do a little manual editing of the face in the CK (ie: adjust the eyeshadow/liner colour slightly, whatever) to remove the bug. Also - let the author know they need to fix it! ;)
