So how do I get this to work exactly? I've been trying plenty of things for a while and I can't quite get this thing to work, could anyone enlighten this Necro-Man? 
With no "how-to" whatsoever I don't know what to make of this, but I did try several things already, all resulting in a messed up version of what I'm trying to achieve.

Ah, sorry for the necro, I fear it's very simple and I'm just missing out on something.
