Shadow Issues

I seem to be having issues with flickering shadows in Skyrim and would love it if someone could assist!

As far as I'm aware I've installed everything correctly (checked all that already!) using BOSS to sort the data files and following all instructions to the letter (at least I hope so!)

I also disabled ENB and Inject SMAA to be sure they weren't causing the issues (ENB has it's own shadow issues :\)

:idea: The shadows look big and blocky and low-res, this giving an annoying, blinking, flickering effect as they move across the character and/or obljects - is that the problem?

 

In your "SkyrimPrefs.ini" (usually located ...\My Documents\ my games\Skyrim, or somewhere similar), under the [Display] entry there should be a line which looks something like:

 

"iBlurDeferredShadowMask=2"

 

The lower that number at the end, the smaller the "blocks" in the shadows will be (I think...), BUT the higher the strain on your system. Default number for "High" is 3. Bear in mind that launching the game through the standard vanilla launcher can re-set any changes you make to .ini's (especially that iBlurDeferredShadowMask number). Try the SKSE launcher instead (Google SKSE) if you're not already using it.

 

(Not sure how helpful this actually is - it's late & I'm well & truly off with the fairies. YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY!) :)

 

 

**Also - looking at those pics, you seem to be getting a weird greyish tinge to the face... :huh:
