Steam Update, Broken Mods

Like the title says, Steam updated and now some of my Skyrim mods are broken. Not all of them, thank the gods, but some like Convenient Horses and Killable Children no longer function. I've tried changing the load order but to no avail. Is this normal? Do I have to wait for the makers of these mods to come out with a new version before they'll work again, or is there something else I can do?

Yep, you are going to have to wait for new versions to come out. It's normal for mods to break after updates.

What is it exactly that causes mods to break? Are there certain *types* which routinely break after game/Steam updates?
