Adding pieces to armor in Outfit Studio?

Recommended Posts

I'm a noob to OS and can't figure out how to add new pieces to existing armors. First I open OS and press "Load Outfit". I navigate to SSE/Data/meshes and open the NIF of the armor I want to modify. Then, I click Import>From NIF and select the NIF of the piece I want to add. It appears in the preview, and I make it conform to the body. When I'm done, I hit Export>To NIF and overwrite the old armor file. Did this for both the 0 and 1 body sizes.

However, the new piece never appears in-game. It appears in the preview every time I load it in OS though, which I find very weird. Can anyone help me out?

Please bear with me here, like I said I'm a total noob and only started messing with this kind of stuff yesterday. I downloaded NifSkope and opened the armor from Data/meshes, and the changes I applied do indeed appear in the preview window. I opened CK and applied the armor to an NPC with the Default Outfit setting, but my changes do NOT appear there. I am also not sure what you mean by "body slots", sorry :c

In case it matters, I am using a total armor replacer mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25259/?). Every outfit is modifiable in BodySlide. A copy of each armor in its default state are stored in Data/CalienteTools/BodySlide/ShapeData. These are the ones loaded into BodySlide when I select it in the Outfit/Body dropdown. When I press build on each outfit, I am pretty sure it overwrites the old outfit in Data/meshes with the one I modified in BodySlide. It does not overwrite the outfits in the ShapeData folder.

I also added the armor piece to the default outfit in the ShapeData folder, but there is only a single NIF here instead of both a 0 and 1. When I preview this in NifSkope, the piece fits perfectly. When I open BodySlide and select it, the piece appears but it does not conform to any presets besides the base shape, and it does not scale in size with the weight slider.

I tried explaining as best I can, but if there's still confusion I can start taking screenshots.

Under Block List left click BSTriShape > Left Click BSDismemberSkinInstance. Then under Block Details look for Partitions BodyPartList. Keep expanding till you get to BSDismemberBodyPartType. You should see an entry like SPB_32_Body or some such. Make sure it matches to selected body part in the Armor Properties and Armor Addon in the Creation Kit. Do that for each BSTriShape the makes up the armor.
