Someone explain in-game sex to me. . .

Just my two cents for the holy necro...

I like in-game sex because of the complexity required to make it work. I enjoy discovering both how hard and how easy it is to bend the engine of Skyrim to my will in certain ways. In a way, I have in-game sex not for the sex, but specifically for the most important of fights: preventing CTDs.

Yeah. I have sex in my game just so that I can screw with the game's files and try not to break stuff.

I suppose the second reason is that there's a limited amount of content for my fetish(es) out there, and I can have all the control mentioned by previous posters when I have my characters get it on in Skyrim.

I do recognize, however, that 90% of what I see or do in Skyrim isn't possible in real sex. That sucks, but, I suppose I wouldn't know. Haven't had any IRL yet.

It's definitely not the pixel porn as such that does anything for me. The level of eroticism contributed by the sex mods is negligible. They don't 'turn me on', and incidentally that's also true for the vast majority of readily available 'real life' tube porn on the net that monsto refers to. They're both incapable of holding a candle to the real thing, and I think that'll never change.

The reason why I use a selected (and rather limited) number of SL mods anyway are, essentially, threefold, I think. In no particular order:

Like SemiPr0, Suludi and others say, in parts it's the immersion. Sex, sexual desire, erotic interest etc are essential aspects of human life, and I simply like to have a chance to integrate these things into my roleplaying experience and fun if I can. In that context, I particularly enjoy the fact that mods are, well, modular: If and when a mod adresses anything I do not want or like, I don't have to use it. If I'm comfortable with whatever it is that the mod offers, I have the choice to add it to my game. Fine for me.

My second reason is a fascination with what dedicated modders and/or a dedicated community can and will achieve if they really put their hearts into it. I mean, we're talking about content here that was never intended to be in the game in the first place, or that sometimes didn't even have the basic technological requirements built into the vanilla engine, so in theory many things you can find on LL or elsewhere shouldn't be possible at all - and still you get them, even if it takes time. I enjoy the creativity that is necessary for that, the talent, the determination, the devotion. I don't wish to sound too pompous, but in a way, a good mod (like a good game) is a work of art (or really, really good craftmanship ...), and hence is a delight in itself. So I try out mods.

Finally, there is also some kind of general contrariness at work within my otherwise humble self. So sex is still a taboo in video games? You don't put it in because it's so, like,  NASTY? Oh-kaay ... but at the same time, you go into gory detail with your killmoves and such? And you do have an actual quest where the player character actually ends up turning into a cannibal and you even have a bloody animation ready for this in your bloody vanilla game?! And you think sex is too NASTY to put it into the game, still?

You know, they spend so much effort on showing us how people are killed in these games, but they shirk away from showing us how they're made? I don't get it. Now, I certainly do not want to sidetrack this thread into one of those endless 'sex vs. violence' debates, but this aspect is one of my reasons, so I felt I needed to mention it, if only for a sense of completeness.

Well, that's my 2 cents, anyway.

Points 1 & 3 are my reasons as well.  I can't say CGI sex does it for me either.  I like the RP, immersion and the situations leading up to and around sex far more than the CGI sex itself.  I think Amorous Adventures,SL Aroused and SL Romance are the 'perfect' sex mods.  They introduce sexuality, desire/lust in an RP-friendly/immersive way. Aroused & Romance are in every profile.  I use AA off and on, but I play mostly females and well, I don't want *every* female character I play to be a lez.

I also use Defeat in most every profile as I really like that the coin in one's purse my not be the only reason a gang of bandits are chasing after my attractive female heroins.  I love a gritty and brutal game and use Requiem so I usually end up dead in stead of molested, but I like that involuntary sex is a distinct possibility.  Just another level of realism/immersion.

And to Starbrows 3rd point, I too find it hypocritical that slicing up, decapitating and dismembering a person 100 different ways in slow-motion, blood & gore, cannibalism, "satanic(-like)/demonic" deities & rituals, necromancy, etc are all perfectly ok, yet sex (at least "normal" sex) and even simple nudity is some how "dirty" and taboo.  Absolutely ridiculous.

Wow.  Necro post, big time.

But, since it happened and I wasn't here when the thread started.  Monsto's original question was, "Why have sex in Skyrim when you can just watch porn on the Internet?"

My answer:  Why have sword fighting or magic in Skyrim when you can just watch Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones?

That was not my original question. It's not even a paraphrase of the original question. It's not even in the same realm of discussion as my question. It's a complete and total redefinition of what my question was.

The question was...

Therefore, my question is what's the attraction to having sex (read: fucking) in skyrim and the other RP games?

Anyone that posted after Thread Resurrection that has used your redefinition of my original question, has gone off in a completely different direction . . . indignantly responding as if the OP offended their core sensibilities.

The OP is actually a very clinical, curious question.

i don't see why it needs to be understood. people like and want different things from different places.

Understanding how other people think will help me better understand the world in general.

It's aaalll about learning.

For example, the guy that said he can't get into porn, it seems so fake... and that he likes sex in the game specifically because of the fantastic interaction.

Personally, I learned a long time ago, that regular porn isn't my thing. It took me about 10 years to understand the refinement of porn that I needed. IOW it took that long to discover my not-so-mainstream fetishes. I'm betting that he's begun to discover them via the game.

Just another little thing I learned about the world today.

I didn't paraphrase your question. I paraphrased your entire post, all of which was a statement in support of your question.

Allow me to remind you.

I'm actually attempting to understand why having sex in the game does what it does (whatever it does) for the people that like it.

This is troll bait. Hoping everyone on this board is idiotic enough to buy into the "clinical, curious" gambit is wishful thinking.

There's a million billion tube sites out there where you can quite literally watch everything from a loving couple creating an expressive moment all the way up to a tranny (male that looks like a female) fucking a tranny (a female that looks like a male). (I'm not making this up) nevermind all the extreme stuff (shitting fish, handjobs with puke-lube, etc)

Don't look now, you just compared sex in Skyrim to internet porn. Tell me again how my paraphrasing was inaccurate.

So...

With all the no-cost and free options available for watching people fuck on the web, I have a hard time believing that it's the sex.

There you go again.

Therefore, my question is what's the attraction to having sex (read: fucking) in skyrim and the other RP games?

Note that you begin your question with "therefore," stipulating that the question arises from your previous statements. I paraphrased it into one sentence. Perhaps you would be happier if I paraphrased all of it:

Hi. I'm going to fuck with people now. Watch me stir up shit by acting like I don't get the reason this site exists.

Free pr0n, people.

Pr0n is easy to get. It's all over the internet.

Therefore, why sex in Skyrim?

Tee hee.

That about sum it up, sub-genius?

I have a question for you:

How is it not instantly obvious to you that this is great porn that you should jack off to?

What is it about your body and mind that makes you unable to experience as much pleasure as us?

Less dopamine, serotonin, physically?

Maybe you have always had a loving girlfriend and you think it's weird if anyone didn't?

Why do you think you are different from us?

Don't pretend that you don't think you are different from us.

I want to passionately defend my love for insane porn against perceived foes. Sorry to you, the one person who asked a curious question several years ago.

Maybe in twenty years when republicans stop hating the gays, we robo-sexuals can actually say out loud that this is the kind of porn that we like.

Until then, I am more hated than the gays. Ha no I'm sorry I can't say that, nobody would beat me up for it, what the heck is that about. People are retarded when it comes to weiner usage. Like, using your weiner is really important to some people what the fuck.

It seems there is no intent here to genuinely satisfy any academic, honest curiosity. Just a person repeatedly asking "But mom WHY". I hate having to resort to this but the situation demands it; "Because". For added effect, "Deal with it".

There's an unwritten rule some people aren't aware of, which goes somewhat likes this; As long as you own your responsibilities and consequences of choices, as long as you weigh on no one and you impose on no one, do as you will. There is no right or wrong. And some people will fap or be attracted to strange things. And none should judge that as long as it's in accordance to not being an ass to someone else.

It now feels the conversation took a "Casting Stones" turn after being resurrected. A shame that, it's an interesting subject for debate. MATURE debate :P Funny thing, people finding sexual relief in a game can be more mature about such a silly(In a good way) thing, than a would be observer getting their sexual relief through more socially acceptable means. I thought society had decided socially acceptable also means more mature.

I'll never understand. I know nothing. But the bottom line remains this is getting derailed by the post and looks suspiciously much like a Frost Troll attempt. So as said... "Because". If you wanted to understand or to hear others' views, you would have stopped asking "WHY WHY WHY" in such a way.

Forgive me for contributing to the necro ritual in the first place! :$

Yeah. Sure.

Everyone else has addressed my question in the way that it was asked. You are the outlier here smelling some fictional troll, so you must be right. Yeah?

He who smelt it, dealt it.

Goodbye.

You expect us to believe someone whose only mods on the Nexus focus on areolae doesn't understand the sexualization of Skyrim?

Look, I get it.  The question is rhetorical, but fun, from a conversational standpoint.  Humans are odd and curious creatures, including you and including me.  But, the answer to questions about the sexualization of anything isn't complicated.  People like sex.  It is part of the human condition and we will inject it into anything we can, within social norms.

That's not necessarily true . . . I was the docs guy (and more) behind hdtpe (as well as the 'editor' of the nexus page for it), have a "blank room" mod up somewhere else (I think both here and nexus) and have like half a dozen skyrim player-home mods that never got published.

Even so, the aureole mods are quite different from the general focus of the question... which was basically about what the fuck-based mods "do for you".

To which your response is "hey man, people like sex"... which is as good an answer as any.

First, skyrim mod scene, helped my Asian communities add lot of ... features and by features i mean textures, models outfits... which are 70% explicit content.

Then it give you a 4k/1080p lossless experience, and in 60fps.

Let's say someone likes BDSM

But he also likes watching movies in 1080p ... and in lossless ... it will really really hard to find one single video.

There is also Immersive FP for skyrim for the POV thing. Oculus RIFT, TrackIR, or anything else that can give more immersion.
