A VERY basic tutorial on VERY simple default CAS replacements

Recommended Posts

This is ONLY for making a default replacement that does not have an altered UV map! It is "relatively" simple (except female nude top, which will still work with Cmar's sliders). Not getting into that at all!

Pics in spoilers.

Tools: Blender (if you are altering the mesh)
          Meshing Tool Kit
          S3OC
          TSRW 2.2.85
          S3PE

Open S3OC, and scroll to the CAS item you are replacing. Click on it and it shows in the display at the right. Open notepad. Copy and paste to notepad, the info that is listed as "Unknown1". On left side of S3OC, right click the CASpart number, then click copy. Paste that to notepad, and close S3OC.

I won't go into altering meshes in Blender. Only to say, do NOT alter the UV map, as this procedure relies on using the standard EA textures.

At this point, Meshing Tool Kit (MTK) is used to convert a mesh and add morphs. Not a tutorial on using MTK.

Open TSRW. I am using 2.2.85, but other versions should have the features needed. Go to adult female nude, select af bottom nude. Name project as you wish. Import your mesh and save.

In top bar, go to Edit> Project Contents. Right click the CASP, then click "Renumber". In the new box, check "Instance ID". Copy and paste the first 8 digits of the instance ID on notepad to this box. Be sure the 0x is still there! Now, do the same with the second 8 digits, and paste to "Second Instance ID". Make sure the box "Update references" is checked. Click OK, and TSRW will now update all package info to match the new CASP number. Good idea to save again.

Right click the CASP> Edit> Generic DBPFEntry Editors.

Scroll to str1. Copy afBottomNude from notepad. Double click the numbers next to str1, and paste afBottomNude. Click OK. A message pop up to save. Save the work, close it, then reopen it. All changes are saved.

Reopen the work file. As this is default, probably should not change any categories. Edit> Project Contents> Export package. I name files. Open MTK. Package Tools and import your package. Click Add Names. You can change the text in the pop up if you wish, then save. You can overwrite, or save as new.

Open your package in s3pe. Right click the CASP and click duplicate. At the top, click Tools> FNV Hash... New box. In Text to hash, I typed "afBottomNude non default". Click calculate and you get new numbers. Copy the FNV64 number to notepad and close the box. Right click your second CASP> Details... Copy the new number from notepad and replace the instance number. You can change the name of the CASP and be sure to check "rename if present" to non default.

I do it this way, as the 2nd CASP will have all of the same internal references of the original CASP, so will use the same meshes and morphs, but for other than only nude CAS random default and pregnancy.

Last pic shows the 2 different CASpart numbers, for default and non default of the same package.

Right click the new CASP. At the bottom, click GRID. Open clothing categories and make "true" whatever floats your boat! Be sure to set random as false, or you will have the game randomly applying nude bottoms to NPC's for outerwear, etc! Save and done!

I have also made height altering shoes as VERY simple, stretch the mesh, but keep the UV to match EA, default replacements, tops and other bottoms. Once the UV is altered, and you need to use different texture images, there is a lot more that would need to be done to make it work. NOT getting into that!

Have fun!
