Wait, hold on this could be taken the wrong way. This thread is to help those who wish to play anthropomorphic animal races... maybe aliens and orcs and other non stranded races as well.

To let you know what I'm working with:
Wings 3d for modeling, not the best but gets the job done, tends to shade meshes in a way that highlights seams.
gerra6's clothing rigger for rigging unrigged stuff
paint.net for textures and normalmaps, i just love the add-on
