Do you think Wicked Whims saved the Sims 4?

Sims 4 without WickedWhims are worthless to me.   WickedWhims is a good mod, but I still prefer Sims 3 with KinkyWorld because the Sims 3 are much better than Sims 4.

But I play both.  Sims 3 has a live open world, sims 4 smoother gameplay,  although individual sites are very isolated .

Well, for me it's not just WW but modding in general I think is what saved the Sims 4. It's the modders and cc creators that make the game more enjoyable to play with and without them I don't think I would have touched the sims 4 in the first place, but that's just my opinion.

I know this sounds crazy and obviously there are a lot of people that don't use wicked whims, but it truly seems like wick whims early addition of sex to the Sims 4 (previous games took a few more years for such mods to arrive) brought a LOT of attention to the game for people who might not have thought of playing it before.

Plus on top of that it seems almost everybody (mostly girls) I know in real life have used, tried or using wicked whims to some extent.  Now I'm not saying the game was "saved" in the sense that it was it such trouble that without wicked whims in the Sims 4 would have been long forgotten because thats not true.  But I truly do wonder how much influence the mod has brought elevating its long term sales.  Sex sells after all, plus you only have to look at youtube to see the most popular videos feature the mod in some way - thats serious influence.

So what do you think, do you think the Sims 4's continued success partially lies in the fact of this mods popularity?

I truly wonder what they say about it at Maxis...

Also on that note I have to admit I'm curious if the money Turbo makes is sometimes more then they make selling the game or maybe an expansion month to month...on that note EA/Maxis mods posted that they support patreon as long as its eventually released for free preferably within 2-3 weeks...too bad not all the animators got that message lol.

Regardless on the flip side its good that turbo still works on it, because I believe that if Maxis was to have made this mod as a gamepack (for the sake of argument) it wouldn't have seen the continued growth it has had by Turbo.  It also makes me wonder if they will make the future Sims games a LOT harder to mod for to avoid a sex mod again...but going  back to the topic, if this mod has helped sell copies of the Sims 4 - it might be only further encouraged (to be created indirectly) for future games until it becomes too realistic (aka media backlash and EA steps in to remove modding capabilities - but I don't see that for a long time Sims 6 VR or something...)

SOOOoo what do you think - has wicked whims allowed for the Sims 4 to prosper?

I think this mod especially gives sexual freedom for our sims and adds a different flavour to the game. I don't like a lot of things in Sims for which is why I use mods and Custom Content. I never had the desire to use mods in the previous Sims games. I like the adult side that Wicked Whims gives us.  It's interesting how you mentioned the thought of Maxis making an adult game pack for the sake of speculation. They won't because their game is profit. Where would they sell it? It could only be sold online but then you'd have to verify age. You could sell it at porn shops or Spencer's because game stores don't want the drama of having adult material. It's about marketing. Profit may be good but a location of your product is always important.  There are the legal issues too, which is one of many reasons why companies don't as a rule put out adult games in general.  Which is something Maxis and EA wouldn't want to get sued over,

I want to say thanks to Turbo too. He rocks and again this mod does make the game more entertaining and I have fun using the mod seeing what traits and aspirations work best,

I wouldn't play Sims 4 if it wasn't for WickedWhims, as Sims 4, by itself is an inferior game to Sims 3. In sims 3, I can make my own worlds with my hand crafted populations. Sims 4? Not possible.

I've been playing Sims 3 with Kinky World. I find WW to be a better thought out mod than KW. KW is a big mod, with drugs, prostitution, whore houses, rape, bestiality, High School (I don't see the point of a high school) and a woohoo skill.  I don't see the point of most of that, not my gameplay. I like the woohoo skill, and drugs are almost required for low level sex but I'd rather not have to Bill Cosby a woohoo target every single time.

WW is more realistic in that folks have sex even if they're not good at it.

I wish it was easier to mod both these mods. Both lack Lifetime Wishes and a dream tree (for Sims 3+KW) and Aspirations and Whims (for Sims 4+WW). I'd like to see more traits and tuning for both, too.

TL:DR hell yes WW saved Sims 4.

I honestly would not even play the Sims 4 without WickedWhims so it saved it in my case

Same.  I bought Sims 4 because there was nothing left for me to do in Sims 3 and within a week, I was bored silly.  Found WW and it breathed new life into the game.

Well its the only reason I bother playing it. The game was such a disaster at launch and majority of DLC is half baked failed abortion garbage compared to the better versions in previous installments. Such as Jungle Adventure is crap compared to what it ripped off World Adventures for Sims 3. WW is popular and defended by a lot of forum users on the official forums which is shocking to say the least. Though the community was very split when it came to the 'Stunning and Brave' update a few years ago allowing cross dressing, men with vaginas and whatnot.

Probably yes. I've not bothered with The Sims in a long time, can't remember if the one I played was Sims 2 or the original anymore. I'd thought about 3 or 4 but passed because of the DLC. There's what, like $600 in total DLC in Sims 4?

But I'm now interested due to WW. Mods like this do a lot to show possibilities regarding the extent of mod ability, previously I had assumed Sims modding would be limited to retextures and ENN/ReShade. WW is the best sort of thing to shatter that assumption. I figured EA would intentionally block modding via any means necessary up to & including always online as well as checksum and/or file integrity checks.

Bethesda's next game is online, and the next singleplayer after 76 will be a similar length of wait to Fallout 4 after Skyrim or Skyrim after FO3, so that puts it at 2021 or 2022. This means there's room for others in the meantime so I might pick up TS4 sometime.

I am pretty new to the Sims and after only playing it for a couple of days I knew I would have been done with it once I was making enough money to do everything I wanted.

Somehow, I don't remember how, I found out about wicked whims. Oh yeah, I was so very annoyed by them being blurred out and I decided to Google it...

I couldn't believe this existed and the extra details are amazing. Made me upgrade my computer for full detail.

Lol, anyways, I support patreon now too. I get to somewhat live out a lot of my sex fantasies  (although not actually me doing it and in cartoon); that is, just having my way with every hot person I see walking around. Lol... haha. Wish I could in rl.... if only.

The whole Mod-Community saved Sims in general. I feel like at least 75% of the community would have left these games without all these awesome mods. WW is really fun and gives us adults a lot of cool little features but it somewhat builds up on a lot of other cool mods that make this game playable in the first place. I couldn't imagine just having WW in my game tbh, so yeah.
