There is now a KWSV (Kinky World Sunset Valley) download thread.

 

I have been known to babble a bit about progress on KWSV, but a lot goes unmentioned, too.
As a for instance, when learning about Kinky World's high schools to add that request to the town, hotels caught my attention. Especially since the mother of my family created for testing the school needed to get whoring almost immediately to pay those bills and keep the kids in school. So whenever my mind needed a break from the school, it would wander on over to the Gilded Gator.

Removed Pets, added Seasons. Love the weather, but it seems to have new routing issues and map crap giving me problems. So dumped that for now.
Started to rebuild using the routing fixed version of Sunset Valley, but they did more than routing fixes. They also 'fixed' lot alignments, bringing them more true to the sidewalks. They don't seem to have paid attention to the back side of the lots, and one of the first things to be reworked was Maywood Glen - now featuring foot high shears in the landscape. Okay - dump that. Start again...

Finally, things have been tracking nicely on the KWSV build previously under discussion.

For those who weren't reading then:
I love the basics of Fleabottom and the concepts at work, but i'm too visually oriented. Might be an artist thing, but without a wall of mist to make a good twilight zone setting, the emptiness becomes terribly distracting for me. So work began rebuilding Sunset Valley for KinkyWorld. Unfortunately, along the way it was revealed that the world editor built into the game actively corrupts and fucks your game. Not in a good 'Corruption Of Champions' sort of way. Aggravatingly, that means we're stuck with the preset lots EA provided, unable to break them up into smaller 'low income neighborhood' lots.

And so all the previous work was tossed, and begin again under the new set of limitations.
Okay, fine. I can live with that. I was already half-assing what JR was doing with Fleabottom to get improved visuals. I can quarter-ass.
So, giving up all the things i can't do, let's focus on what can be done with just the sim & town editor tools...

Sundown Valley is my working name for this KW rebuild. Not a fabulous name, but nothing better has leaped out to grab me yet.

Priorities:
No Kids - Babies, Toddlers, Children, and Pregnancies have been eliminated from game start-up. Only a few Teens in town.
Rabbithole Waste - Huge tracts of land are wasted with Rabbithole Locations. Where viable, combine rabbitholes with other functions and usable space.
Access - give Sims access to skill building and entertainment objects. give Sims easy access to beds for spontaneous sexual encounters (Not that beds are needed) and for street living. (This tucks nicely into picking up the Rabbithole Waste, too)
Dark Times - The town has gone downhill. Old established families like the Landgraabs have abandoned the town for brighter horizons. The biggest money in town these days is in organized crime, and the population seems to have followed suit. This is not a town of 'good people' - about half are rapists. More than a few are flat-out evil.

Prominent Location Changes (thus far):
The Hole In The Wall - formerly the Outstanding Citizen Warehouse Corp. Now includes western themed bar with hidden patio and beds room (eventually to become whorehouse when that option manifests) Rabbithole Door located outside bar for 24 hour access.
Romany Park - formerly Maywood Glen. Now overgrown with Gypsy Wagon and Snake Charming Basket made available.
Landgrab Industries Science Facility - added Science Exploration Annex with access to Chemistry, Inventing, and Gem Cutting equipment.
City Hall - now a fenced construction zone. (Reserved major plot downtown for you to be able to add your own unique location)
'Temporary' Civic Center - formerly Police Headquarters, now joint City Hall/Police/Military office structure.
The Blast-Off Arena - major performance venue built on the site of the old military base, with launch structure left intact to promote Out-Of-This-World Entertainment.
Mirabello Plaza - rebuilt with added arcade & nightclub, as well as the Bistro moved across the street. (This is still in construction and play testing to see how it handles crowds & traffic flow. Parts may be relocated if the system is overwhelmed or confused by it all)
Library - now has added 3rd floor Music Room with access to piano, bass, drums & guitar.
Museum - now has Art Exploration Zone with Easel, Drafting Table, and Sculpting Station access
Little Corsican Bistro - moved across the street into Mirabello Plaza.
Port-A-Party Warehouse - gone. That's one of my favorite build locations. Fuck them - get off my lot!
Mick's Master Karaoke - gone. Next door to my second favorite build location. Noisy Assholes.
Working Girls' Party Pool - formerly Lofty Cerulean Blue Pool. Now hosts karaoke with dance floor and poolside bar.
Le Petit Shark Pool Center - now hosting Pool Sharks down in the pool-level pool hall.
Shipwreck Cove - formerly Recurve Strand. Now features minor picnic park with tourist trap eatery.
Sunnyside Strand is now a residential location for homeless beachbum types.


Housing Changes:
Several locations have undergone major rebuilds, with more planned. Any house designed for children has, of course, been reworked for removal. (The exception being the house of the Wannabe Mama (see stories below)) Some new, smaller sized housing geared toward single occupant living. Other changes to shift things to suit the new feel of town and/or the new owners.


Residents:
The population of the town is completely replaced, though some may evoke, or be related to, previous families or households. All new sims have fully individualized wardrobes, personalities and written biographies. All sims have at least one KW Trait.
SV originally had 67 residents living in 25 households. I'm currently planning 60 residents in 27 households, but that's still a bit in flux. I've got a lot of balancing to do. Not balancing to make sure we have a viable work group or anything like that - balancing Traits vs. Lot Attraction Tags. Once the locations are fixed, i want to be sure that there is a good mix of types to fill all locations as needed.
I haven't done any real breakdowns yet to see how things stack up, but the mix is about 50/50 on gender. I think. I grew up internationally, and enjoy variety - so there's a fairly wide mix in ethnicities.
Okay, some of these are sometimes stereotypical characters to an extent - European Lothario, Asian Student, Chicano Mother, Redneck Sister-fucker, etc.,. With as little as we have to define the Sims' characters, that kind of design shorthand helps establish them easily.  Besides, they're all based on people i've known. So not going to worry about that.
Of course, sometimes those stereotypes are there for general fantasy purposes. One of the Working Girls is a lolli, and visually the pale little blonde in pigtails is what triggers that association more than having gone with one of the other girls. It's like having that version of Betti Page walking around town - pre-associated triggers do the hard work for me. ;)

Residential Group Changes:
Working Friends are now the Working Girls.
The Roomies are now The Frat Boys.
Single Moms are now Extra Girls.

Stories/Challenges:
Frequently the bio of a sim will refer to a goal, offering a way to play the character. For example:
"Stan is a lazy fat-ass. He admits this freely, and wants to do something about it. But...   exercise? Gods, no! What a horrible thought.
Then he read Richard Hooker's post-war M*A*S*H books and realized his salvation: He could fuck his way to fitness! And if women don't want to help him, well...

Now he has a plan."
The Challenge - make Stan thin, but there's only one 'exercise' that can be used - sex. Lots of it. All that sex might not come willingly...
(Yes - LTR aid is legal)

Some have special set-ups that are hopefully pre-set, but instructions are provided to ensure all plays as it should. See the Jaxim Household picture for an example. In theory, it loads with the bed ownerships and door locks functioning - but that's only been tested on my system. It could be pulling something from cache info or who-knows-what to make me think it's going to work for you. I don't trust it...

Currently Implemented Stories:
Fat Fucker - Work the weight off, using only sex for exercise
Haunted Street Kid - start with nothing but an empty lot, haunted by your dead grandmother
Redneck Inbreeders - self explanatory, but look at the Jaxim family set-up in the pic below
Predatory Artist - trap models in your dungeon to paint your masterpieces
Porn Princess - start as an online video slut and work your way to fame & fortune
Beach Bummer - Homeless living at its sandy finest.
Mama Wannabe - Some just desperately desire kids, and she's got a house ready to be filled.
Top Dog - Brothers compete for the best sex
Fear Of Parenting - Can a reformed slut keep her daughter from following the same path?
Twincest - Who needs the world when we have each other?
Star Fucker - Sheena grew up watching Hiltons and Kardashians and she wants to do the same. Make it to 5* celebrity based only on who you know and who you fuck.
Dungeon Master - want some candy, little girl?
Stumbling To Stardom - Clumsy vs. Star Quality
Doppelgangbang - There's two of you! Will that gangbang be street fighting or group fucking? Do you love or hate yourself?



When previously starting this conversation, my questions were phrased to satisfy my curiosity rather than to provide useful info. So my only big take-away was to make sure that there's venues for Showtime careers. Done, done, done, and done. (Even though mentioning previously ripping some out, they've been replaced with new venues.)
I don't use University Life, as mentioned previously. The smart phones (and my sim getting addicted to it within minutes when left alone) made me uninstall with less than 20 minutes of playtime, so no real clue what it offers. If you want something that UL provides, explain to me what it is. (I know there's mods out there to tame the phone now.)

This is the time to let me know if there's anything that you like to have around with KinkyWorld games. I didn't mention above, but there is a vampire's lair with larder planned. Hmm....  Not anticipating any other requests at the moment, so time to shut the hell up and let you folks talk.

But the questions remain.

Are there things that people want to be sure are there for their games?

Do you need a supernatural hang?

Did you want...    well, something that's slipped my mind? It's hard to specifically ask for things i haven't considered yet.

I'm not a massively experiened Sims3 player. Played for a few weeks, and it murdered my video card. Didn't go back until after looking at Sims4 and feeling sad.

So odds are there's things you do and like to use i might not have even encountered yet.

(Example - currently playing my first Faerie and just beginning to learn what they can do. I've only played 3 Witch sims (they're all in the town). Have yet to play any other supernaturals.)

That said, i'm and old school gamer (40 year anniversary of starting D&D this year!) and veteran of the game industry, and can't help getting under the hood to make things suit me better.

But, since deciding to share, would be good to suit more than just me, eh?

 

So - thoughts on things you want while the current work is underway?

 

Oh, yeah.

Now that the Corsican Bistro is moved to Mirabello Plaza, should that little lot be kept open as a downtown residential option? Or replace it with another community lot?

 

Meanwhile...   I'll try to grab a few more pics while working (and playing) today. (Though it's unlikely that the current sim's modded home will make it into town. It's an odd goth-faerie-musician set-up)

After all, at this point it's more pimping than sharing.

That, and mining for ideas and data. (Though not very successfully)

 

Grabbed some more screens - there's 8 new images added to the bottom of the pile in the OP.

 

Now, it's off to continue with this first faerie character.

After all - I gots to find out if KinkyWorld adds new auras, right?

Thanks for your suggestion. I was hoping for exactly this sort of thing. High School wasn't even a consideration for me, since most of my teens tend to avoid school. Upon reflection, a high school for teens to interact sounds like a good suggestion. I'm currently reviewing the guides to Oniki's High School functions in KW, and will starting design & building on it next time a fresh break is needed.

I`m playing with fleabottom, but I have made it mine, by adding lots of lots ;)

I`ve got a KW-highschool,

rabbithole school

and a kindergarden

a big jail/policestation,

a militaryarea (next to the junkyard/landfill)

a higher class area by the beach with a community church for weddings/funerals (with a hidden dungeon/torturechamber),

3 lots with threes to make the illusion of a forrest, one of them containing a castleruin with room for my wearwolf fam.

A swamp area (island) with a underground cave/house hidden with stones and threes for my vamp family.

I added a resort to the beach.

Also have an asylum,

a hospital,

a spa/sauna

a community pool

a camping-with a basement for the working girls

a farming area with 3 residental farms and one community-lot for a horseboarding-center

and also a grungy supermarked with stores/shops/haircutter/tattoo-artist and cafeteria

The criminal hideout has three grungy houses all connected by a backyard(growing drugs). one of the houses is a gambling den, the other made for adult movie making/modeling (two stages with different scenery). The last house is for the boss and criminals and has lots of weapons,money and drugs

 

most lots are made by others and heavily modified by me. Hope that can give inspiration to you:)

Busy day.

The High School is coming along nicely. I'm debating using a few CC items from Around The Sims, primarily blackboard, map, etc.,. Though also playing with other options (like changing wall paper section to blackboard color instead of using actual prop).

That question about store towns in the OP? Forget it. I was thinking Appaloosa Trails was a store town that had been eliminated. Finally realized it was part of Pets, and re-installed the expansion. I've got the statue back to rebuild the Dancing Dino again. Happies.

(The Dancing Dino is a neighborhood hang - part club, part arcade, part park. (But no Seasons, so the underground ice rink is gone))

ASYLUM!?!

Your list is a wonderful example of what is frustrating about not being able to add/change lot assignments* with the world editor. Some fine ideas happening there.

But, Asylum...  oh, damn. So many potential good options there.

 

How do you tend play? As an inmate? As a controller/experimenter? as a wicked boy trying to find the wings to pull off? um, wait...   let's skip that and move right along.

(I did go and read the Asylum Challenge before typing this)

 

Another good question Maraas points out here - do people like to have a place to keep horses? Pets is back in the mix now.

 

Hmm.... For those who missed the previous conversation, beyond the custom content possibility mentioned above, CyclonSue's Bridge Lane sets - the same used by Jolie Rouge for Fleabottom - are also used, as well as some clothing (mostly from Lorandia). Links will, of course, be provided with files on upload.

 

 

*(I'm referring to the actual spacing and placing of the lots, not lot type)

Well, thanks for that inspiration. Lots of potential there. So much, it almost feels like there should be two - an extra one for the criminally insane, prone to getting loose into the community.

But a screwed up as the population of this town is, that might be redundant.

 

 

HEY, EVERYBODY!

While it's in my head, here's an odd tidbit for town builders/editors:

I found that if a lot is set, for example, as a small park and has special items on the lot (in this case, the Gypsy Wagon), and then is reset to a graveyard, cool things can happen. The system won't change the attractors due to the presence of the Wagon, but will change the moodlets.

So Romany Hollow attracts like a small park, but gives the spooky graveyard moodlet at night.

I haven't experimented much to see how this system oddity can be exploited, but it might have potential if someone gets creative with it.

If you want more lot-subtypes, there`s a cheat for that.

Ctrl+Shift+C to open the console, then <testingcheatsenabled on>, the code you need is <EnableLotLocking off>; doesn`t matter if on/off or true/false, both work.

This cheat is for unlocking lots you couldn`t save to the bin otherwise and adds all the hidden subtypes like sorority/dorm/whatever to the list when setting it in Edit Town mode. 

 

For more information on what the commands do, type <Help>.

 

Make sure you disable all the cheats you used before you continue gameplay, otherwise it might blow everything, so save before doing anithing down that line.

I knew it was phrased badly even as it was written. I was actually talking re-assigning the fixed lots used. Like breaking a 40x30 into two 20x30 lots, for neighborhoods like you've made in Fleabottom, or adding entirely new lots.

 

Your comment on disabling the cheats after use - I've only encountered that advice twice before while reading through scores of conversations on using the cheats. Why don't people mention this more often?

And maybe you could help with a semi-related problem?

I went to replace Recurve Strand on my main construction map after saving the lot and found a problem well beyond me. When bulldozing the Recurve Strand lot, it disappears completely. Now it's impossible to place the modified version

Got any thoughts on how to deal with that? Right now my best (terrible) idea is to wait until everything else is done, then go back an rebuild on my final map.

The new school is in the same location as the old School For The Gifted (I ain't seen no mutants!) across from Central Park.

KWSV High School Features:

3 Class Rooms (8 Student capacity each)

Outdoor Covered Lunch Area

2 Story Library/Computer Lab with connecting sky-walk

2 Story Gymnasium with connecting sky-walk and rooftop "Starlight Dance Floor"

  (Gymnasium ground floor has Pool & Bathroom, upstairs Workout Equipment)

Music & Art Rooms

Principal's Office

Student Accessible Rooftop Party Area

Basement (with Discipline Room)

In the OP, it was requested that someone convince me why University Life is a good idea. Here you've gone and done it without even trying. I need it for the whiteboard and podium required for the classes. So that's going back into the mix. But first, it's off to find that mod that kills smart phone usage for while i'm testing...

Tried that smaller-lots-for lower-income-thing once and had a slum, all small huts, but the downside was, the game started to lag.

Don`t know if it was all the lots added, or something else, but after some time it was unplayable.

So, my guess would be it does work, but only pre-made in CAW.

 

Will see if I can find something about your bulldozed lot, got a pic of where it would be located for me?

From the screenshot it looks like the tables in the classrooms are pretty close together. I recommend giving lots of extra space around them, as classrooms are very prone to congestion. I've found that the headmaster, janitor, and any NPC sim teacher who isn't teaching at the moment really like to hang out in the classroom that is being used. Throw in the teacher who's supposed to be there, the students, and a stray dog, and they really need a lot of space to avoid pathing problems.

But - no erections.

Is this because Cmar created it before the morphing penis used by males? Or should it work the same and perhaps missing scripts or something?

I've been too caught up in the building and testing to spend time on other issues at the moment. I backed down to 2.8 on KW for the same reasons. I'll get to those issues a bit down the road when my focus is more on playing the game. But, since you're the one who taught me how in the first place...

I'd wondered about that. I always run each lot for lengthy observation periods to see what sort of snags arise in traffic and can't-get-there complaints from the sims. But your comments save me some testing & rebuild time.

I'm going to move the Music & Art rooms to a new 3rd floor on the library building and expand the classroom space. I'm guessing it'll be two large 10 student class rooms and a smaller 4-6 student class.

I'm generally figuring support for a minimum of 20 simultaneous students - 1/3 of the town population at game start. The max is typically 24  for seating in combined class rooms and lunch area.

 

Funny thing is, a new game will have to be started for testing the high school since there's only 5 teens in my current game town. Can't really test crowding that way.

Somehow, the alternate version got dumped into the folder also. It must have been overriding the proper penis. Improper penis? The flopper penis.

 

Can't drop anything into the lot after bulldozing. The lot vanishes - no icon, no area box, no interaction.

That confused the hell out of me.

I used the Debug>Transform trick you taught me. But things went to hell after removing the accessory (and creating new sim in new world to avoid conflicts). Now she has no penis, except when flashing or using it. I tried various settings to no avail, and eventually got frustrated and annoyed and stopped playing and had to get away from the Sims for a while.

 

But that doesn't mean work hasn't continued at all.

 

As folks may have noticed, yesterday was an education day for me. I learned how to make custom paintings/posters for S3. I posted the results over in the downloads - 5 objects containing 24 paintings.

 

Meanwhile, back in KWSV, the high school progresses:

With the addition of the 3rd floor Music/Art rooms, and a library elevator, the rooftop party area has been moved there. (And some enterprising students seem to have added some minor furnishings.) After replacing the ornamental brickwork for the steps out front, the building has been recolored to better match. Classrooms have been expanded, and furnishings & decor are getting detailed.

 

The Dancing Dino reconstruction proceeds apace as well. Here's a pic of the new underground bowling lanes:

FaeHaus is nearly finished, and other minor works continue.

But, not working on the people for a few days. I want to resolve the shemale issues mentioned above first. I seem to remember something about Sims3 embedding data in the sims at creation point in CAS. In case there's something in that relating to my problems, it's best to be sure before proceeding further with what might be potentially troublesome characters that need to be recreated.

Thanks! It's fun work.

 

The science boys declared me fit to live for another two weeks, but it's collapse time.

 

Before that happens, though - a couple quick questions:

What should the school's team/mascot be, and what should be the school colours? As you can see here, currently the generic Gnomes with red & blue are used during base construction:

The last round of finishing will include customizing that for our KW town.

 

So - ideas? Beyond the obvious Giant Douche and Turd Sandwich, what should be considered for the banners and decor? Oh, sure - the Dildos would be an easy icon, but somebody's got a better idea, right?

What School colours should be used?
