What's on your mind?

One can not be taxed if one does not engage in commerce. There is not a member of the genus Pantera in the wilds who has ever paid a single fraction of a monetary unit towards anyone's civil services.

They are more likely to pay more than a simple pound of flesh for not having any form of civilization whatsoever, though.

Entropy on the other random extremity is even more inevitable than Death as is occurs regardless if life existed in a region or not.

Back-taxes... Soon as a country claims the land, they expect you to pay to live there... or they kick you off "their" land. 😱

What exactly does one tax a tiger for...a percent of his stripes?

Unstable Radioactive Isotope decay is pretty inevitable. You can set your watch by it....

That would fall under the phenomenon of Entropy so yes, it is one of the few constants in the universe whether or not there are any living things to witness it.

The concept of Death only has meaning where there are living things and taxes are only for things which engage in commerce within complex societies (which are not Libertarian or Socialist).

Just glossed through your comment, thought you were talking about tribes of people...

... but if anybody would try, it'd be a politician. 😝

Words of wisdom - a voice from the past.

I heard some words of wisdom "There is a difference between protest and looting."

I can see that. One is illegal and one can be illegal depending on how the country's government feels at the time.

Nevermind that. Protesting means work and Darkpig wants weed.

I get the feeling someone at YouTube pushes a few buttons, then the algorithm starts comparing your history to videos using certain flags they want to promote, resulting in some obscure videos being recommended.

More words of wisdom.

Hell, we gave a Businessman a shot at being president - I say go for broke and put Ben Shapiro AND Candace Owens on a Presidential ticket and really turn the political blender up to 'frappe'. Yes, I'm getting old and in a perverse way, enjoy the spectacle that politics have become as I can't take it seriously anymore :)

I had to look this up, but being agnostic - could give a fuck.

One of the institutions in desperate need of reform right now is the one that so many people just gloss over completely, that being The Fourth Estate.

If only the Fairness Doctrine hadn't been over turned, some of the worst problems going on in the world due to incomplete information if not outright misinformation wouldn't be happening right now. Thanks, Reagan.

I'm wondering just how far the rot has spread and how much needs remodeling at this point. At the very least, news corporations should have to update stories after giving bulletins once they receive information which either completes, complements or conflicts with their previous reporting or face steep penalties for allowing faulty information to remain in the public consciousness as a result of their carelessness. They could probably limit partisan punditry to a few hours a day if not a single dedicated entertainment news block, reserving the rest of the day for reporting with minimal commentary.

Yes, I am suggesting that C-SPAN at its very 'dullest' should be the gold standard of news channels. That might be the least bad thing that Ted Turner had an indirect role in creating.

"Besides, as the vilest Writer has his Readers, so the greatest Liar has his Believers; and it often happens, that if a Lie be believ’d only for an Hour, it has done its Work, and there is no farther occasion for it. Falsehood flies, and the Truth comes limping after it; so that when Men come to be undeceiv’d, it is too late; the Jest is over, and the Tale has had its Effect…"

I finally got around to logging back into Steam only to find that the store front is chock full of games formerly exclusive to other platforms, most surprisingly that includes The Sims 4 and Detroit: Become Human.

Is this a sign that the other platforms are proving less than self-sufficient, forcing the companies who own them to run to their chief competitor's store to make a profit or is it just pure pragmatism that prompts them to tolerate a small profit share with a rival to make much more money in the long run? It is most likely the latter but I have to wonder about what it means for the Videogames industry if it is the former.

It looks like Capitalism really is great for convincing people (Corporations are considered people now, right?)to put aside their petty differences to work together, after all.

Thinking of Capitalism, one of the things that turned me off of BLM when it was new was reading its website and hearing the drivel spewed out of the mouths of its founders which revealed the movement as a grave-standing gaggle of hucksters who don't care about black men at all, using their deaths to seek to harm the Black Community by making their biggest problems, the dissolution of the Nuclear Family and their ability to make an honest living in their communities, even worse, almost ensuring further run-ins with the police unless they are disbanded and replaced by their own Morality Police who will turn a blind eye to anything done to the lesser peoples.

The fact that a silly on-the-nose name was enough to get people to shut down their skepticism is fairly damning to the vaunted human capacity for reason.

Everyone going on about TLOU 2 reviews right now just need to STFU. "It's bots!" "It's haters!" "It's fanbois!"

Reviews outside of ones that can verify if someone has seen/played/used a product are inherently suspect. And when it comes to "professional" critics, their words aren't worth the electrons their transmitted on. In the end it isn't reviews that really matter to companies but sales. The final net tell the real story of whether something is a success or a failure, especially in the long run. Since it's too soon to tell what TLOU 2's net gains or losses are, all this nonsense is pure propaganda.

And no, @FauxFurry, corporations are not people. I think it's the latter because right now the video games industry is in real upheaval thanks to the loss of Chinese manufacturing, the lack of original titles coming out, and the sparsity of any sort of releases during a time when people are stuck at home with nothing to do. They're desperate to increase exposure of those titles that are out, no matter how old.

So Bethesda basically dropped 1mil to donate towards marxism. That basically labels Bethesda as marxist supporters. teehee!

This reminds me of the old saying to goes roughly like: "A Capitalist will sell you the noose used to hang him."
