[mod] [Stellaris] EoS - Without Apparel Patch

Recommended Posts

Come to think of it, I could stipulate what bases the fallens use....  laugh.pnglaugh.png

Well I like this sort of... illustrate-ish look. I mean, you can't really tell after I size it down of course.  There's a lot less work involved with that last base. Figures, less work and it looks better... confused.gif

I may do a few more along these lines. And some guys. Though about guys....  I mean... Elves! I -have- to attempt a Legolas. laugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.png (Not sure how well I'll do though!!!)

One positive about this ship making venture is... I think I can animate portraits pretty easily. Which means.... I can make new portraits without having to worry about eye placement. I'll probably revisit portraits again after the ships. laugh.png  I mean really, all my new portraits would look much better with larger eyes. wink.png

Haha! Actually... probably. But waving means drawing hands. I hate drawing hands... laugh.png

Bouncing is certainly on the table though! cool.gifcool.gifcool.gif

Of course, now I'm thinking about how to add hands without actually drawing them. laugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.png  You have to admit it would be hilarious to meet a happy, bouncy, AND waving space elf that says: "Hello! We think your ugly species should be eradicated from existence. Prepare to die." biggrin.pngbiggrin.pngbiggrin.png

Oh! And did you see another tweet I posted in my topic a few days ago?

http://www.loverslab.com/topic/66779-stellaris-the-asari-civilisation/page-2

Apparently in Heinlein they're adding the ability to move your capital (which I'm happy about because I could never get the mod working) squeeee!

About time! It will no longer be necessary to start with a dope capital if you ever want to have one.

Link to comment

Oh, no I missed that! EXCELLENT! I figured they'd add it eventually given you can do that in... pretty much every other game they make. Also kind of kills the need for me to have -fantastic- start worlds for my mods. Might make a few more with lesser homeworlds for variety.

It should also help in situations where you lose a war and cede your capital so another planet becomes your new capital but then you take your old capital back and you can't make it your capital again, ughhhh!

Actually can I complain about something? I just noticed that it's really hard to lose wars in Stellaris. I mean, you could be losing wars for years as the enemy hunts down your fleets and shipyards and puts you in an unwinnable position but the AI is sooooo horribad at actually sealing the deal! They randomly stop bombarding planets halfway through, their transport ships (if they don't get picked off along the way because they're flying without escort) arrive one at a time and instantly get butchered by defensive armies on the ground and the idiot federation president who dragged me into an impossible war in the first place refuses to surrender!

Never. Playing. Pacifists. Again. Poop that noise.

Link to comment

You tried playing a pacifist!?? laugh.pnglaugh.png

The closest I came to that was playing a deeply religious race that sought peace in the universe..... by eradicating everyone else. laugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.png

Federations are, a major pain! Oh, and while we're complaining: withdrawing from planets. When I say withdraw from a planet as a war goal, I didn't mean EXTERMINATE all pops!! I just meant WITHDRAW. laugh.png And while we're on the subject of extermination... why is it that AI civs get mad at YOU when you do that but not at Fallen empires doing the same thing!? biggrin.png

Well, I tried to do something new. I saw that pacifists get a lot of core planets to play around with and a loooot of free happiness so I was like oh hey that might be fun! I'll invest heavily into habitation and try to play a macro game where I perfectly optimise every world under my control without relying on sectors.

And it was fun! For like 100 (120ish?) years or so, I had an amazing spawn that allowed me to expand relatively freely up to a point and all the empires I ran into were receptive to diplomacy and I made sure to befriend them before my expansionism started bothering anyone. Eventualy they liked me so much that I was invited into an AI-generated alliance and I was like sure, okay, that should secure my safety. My empire actually had a funny shape that ran all the way from the galactic core to the galactic rim in a zig-zag pattern between other empires. It wasn't the most efficient expansion but it was the best I could manage without taking territory from people getting in my way (the urge was there tho...)

And then... my happy little alliance decided it wants to be a federation! Fast forward a few decades and whatever idiot was president at the time decided it would be fun to declare war on an empire of militaristic expansionists (who happened to be dark elves, appropriate XD) that had 2 vassals and a defensive pact with ANOTHER superpower that was EVEN bigger.

Because I was so big of course I was the first to get invaded! They destroyed most of my fleet over two battles, then rolled over my shipyards (and were actually very diligent about it) and you can probably imagine how it went from there.

Where was the Federation Fleet in all that you might ask? GLAD YOU DID! Since I didn't contribute to it at all, it was a mashup of outdated designs with 3 different FTL types that apparently didn't think me getting destroyed was worth leaving the president's home system.

I guess maybe the reason I lost so horribly was because it was the worst imaginable timing for a war to happen since I had access to all the tech I needed to fight it but was still in a transition phase where I hadn't actually produced enough of it. BUT still, I blame the dumb federation that for some reason I can't understand INITIATED a war it could not win. And then it proceeded to last forever because the AI took its sweet time conquering planets.

In other games I actually love playing peaceful diplomatic civs that pursue science and economy to the exclusion of all else. In Civ 5 I did that all the time (skyrocketing my science output as Korea and by the medieval era leaving everyone else an entire era behind was my favourite thing to do!) but Stellaris? It just feels impossible! Avoiding wars just seems like a good way to hand the friendly neighbourhood Fanatical Purifier the galaxy on a silver platter.

Yeah I think the peaceful stuff isn't quite ready for Stellaris yet. Everything currently favors the expansionist or "kill everything in sight" styles. laugh.png And Federations need some -serious- work!!!! confused.gif

Lately I've been playing with a somewhat new goal for myself: eradicate all non-elven life forms. It's surprisingly satisfying wiping out talking mushrooms....  laugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.png

Some minor news for elves/drow too. Since I can now do ships (and also totally new portraits), the next updates will start adding some new things. I find I'm rather fond of a few the ships as they are now. But... I also have several I can't stand. (AHEM: science ships!!) So... I'll be slowly adding in new ships to get rid of stuff I don't like. And this time, there won't be simple retextures. I'll make completely different stuff for any drow replacements. Eventually both sets will be unique.

Naturally, nothing until after the next Stellaris update of course! angel.gif

Oh and as such... if anybody has a pic of an interesting ship, post away! laugh.png

I'm already thinking a nice smooth, shiny version of this would be good to fill one of the Drow battleship slots. (I personally think that design is better than the one that ended up in the film!!)

No idea for the elves yet. Probably something silvery and smooth though. biggrin.png I almost thought to do the Naboo stuff until I had a closer look and realized it's just the SR-71 with a quicksilver texture. .... confused.gif  No wonder the prequels are... the way they are. laugh.png laugh.png laugh.png

I could never bring myself to exterminate pops, but I think it will be even harder in Leviathans where they're going to add cute starfish and butterflies and little geckos and other adorable aliens XD

There was actually a Heinlein gameplay stream on Thursday and they played cute species in multiplayer. I was too busy just going awwwww! at everything to pay attention to all the new features and stuff!

If there is a race of cute little kitties I'm soooo dropping whatever plans I had and using them for my first Leviathans playthrough XD

Oh speaking of which Paradox just announced the release date! https://twitter.com/StellarisGame/status/785466914751545344

It's 20th of October sooo a bit over a week from now!

Which hurts my soul because it's right around the time Civilization 6 releases! What I am supposed to doooooo?? Rip in pepperonis me

Link to comment

Oh my, the 20th!? Better get moving then!! I was hoping to have the ships at least finished prior to the update. Might make it! laugh.png

While back I got hooked on .... Fall from Heaven 2? I think? That huge fantasy mod for Civ IV. Ever since then I can't ever get into a Civ game unless it's fantasy. laugh.png Played Civ 5 for maybe 5 minutes and that was too much. wink.png

Oh right, some news too! I figured out collisions and how to add lights as well as "death" explosions. Still can't quite figure out death animations at the moment though. (Should be a way, other custom ships do it... I think.)

Oh I've only played Civ 5 and Beyond Earth (Civ in Space!). I actually really loved Beyond Earth the first couple of times but then playthroughs become all samey and you pretty much see everything over the course of 2-3 games and for some reason they stopped creating content for it after one expansion. I wish it had more content so I'd have a reason to come back and try something new.

And wheee! I like explosions!

Looks like elves will be getting included in vanillia (just portraits though, looks like)

I love the portraits they came up with! The giant-head aliens are dope, I'll have to play them someday!

It's also a good thing they're adding the humanoid species class to the free update, I'll be able to move the Asari to it and not have to worry about dependency on Leviathans.

Looks like I'll have to make some more nude base bodies! laugh.pnglaugh.png I like some of those heads though. Better looking than the existing!

Only trouble with the new elfies might be they don't have ears pointing out of the hair. Can't have that!! laugh.png So I may keep my own ears. We'll see.

And... oh dear, might as well make nude stuff for all the humanoids in that case! shy.gif  Can't have non-nude and nudes running around. Oh my! biggrin.png

Link to comment

I think I'll still have to keep elves out because of the ship/city styles. But I will play with it. I'll of course do up bodies for all the new humanoids so they can use my clothes. Not that I'm necessarily adding my clothes to humanoids though. Somebody else can manage that one.

And... I may update the Real Slavery mod to account for the new humanoids as well. In fact I'm going to. With more humanoids, they all should have access to the slavey look. Makes things more immersive. laugh.pnglaugh.pnglaugh.png

Oh speaking of species classes, did you see what Wiz posted a few pages later?

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/stellaris-dev-diary-49-graphics-portraits.974104/page-4#post-21950963 (and also somewhere else someone said that the game will be trying to prevent multiple species with the same portrait spawning unless it has no choice)

With both of these things you could re-enable the vanilla random generation of elves/drow without having to worry about them taking over the entire galaxy XD And also the system initialisers for primitives and such would no longer be needed.

Also I loooove the outfit humanoid portrait 4 is wearing! It looks perfect for cold weather planets.
