Added a patch for those experiencing black face due to ENB, courtesy of MALETIR
Install this mod, then install his patch, overwrite the files, activate his ESP and put it lower in the load order.

Description
These are working Lipsticks.
To obtain them:
- They can be bought from Chet in Goodspring, Miguel in Westside or Cliff Briscoe in Novac
- You can COC aLPTestCell and will find them inside a container.
- You can enable the debug mode on the ini file and receive them at the first execution of the mod (if MCM is installed)
- You can... uhm... add them via console

There are 8 colors, some of them are really awful.

They can be used 10 times, after that you can throw them in the trashcan because they are exhausted.

In your inventory, they can be found under "Apparel", like armors. After clicking on the lipstick, you will be kicked out from the pipboy, if you had some "obstruction" in the face it should be removed (i.e. a full head helm), after 1-2 seconds if you were in first person you will be forced in third, and an animation will trigger, with the player putting the lipstick on lips.

You can also hotkey it and put it while you are playing, like for regular weapons etc., i.e. you are walking in some casino and you feel your lips require lipstick so you just press the hotkey and the player will put the lipstick while walking etc.etc.

If you are wondering why the lipstick shape or alignment is not very much precise, here 2 good reasons: 1) it is tweaked for the MD preset I use ; 2) in NV there are no working mirrors, I really challenge you to put the lipstick in some decent way without a mirror.

The lipstick provides a boost of +1 Charisma to female couriers and -3 Charisma to male couriers. The "effect" leasts 5 minutes. If for some reason the game removes the lipstick from the lips when it shouldn't, there's a check every 10 seconds which will restore it.

If you drink from most toilets / sinks / water pumps, the lipstick can go away.

For Modders, when the player has lipstick effect, every 10 seconds it dispatches aLPPlayerHasLipstick event. When the lipstick finishes, it dispatches aLPPlayerHasNoMoreLipstick

Installation
Unpack everything under Data, as always. If you use a mod manager, check if it does its job (well probably only for the Config subfolder, so if you don't care about it you're fine).

Incompatibilities
- No vanilla records or cells were modified, with the exception of 1 ITM.
- Some ENBs could have weird reactions with alpha, so the head could seem black - it was reported to me, my ENBs never had issues.
- Due to the nature of the membrane shader, you'll have a wondrous shining coloured reflection on the back of your head, with some vanilla short hairs. Custom long hairs are strongly suggested... :)

Requisites
NVSE 5+
Lutana (Optional)
MCM (Optional) - it only requires the dll

Optionals:
With Lutana installed, some NPCs will have them in their inventory. You can also find them playing the animation of the lipstick, however they won't have their lips color changed, it's just an idle.
With MCM dll installed, a couple of parameters can be tweaked on the INI file (debug and charisma boost).

Permissions:
This mod can be considered a resource, not for commercial use. Use it as you prefer, credit me if you think it's good.

Credits:
hlp and team for NVSE
Luthien Anarion for Lutana
Pelinor for MCM

Oh you authoritarian cat, you play NV? that's so nice!

If you give it to Veronica, she should start using it, as idle, from time to time. But her lips won't colour. The colour on the lips is only for the player, same as the CHA boost (or, for modding purposes, the dispatched events)

feel free to use the assets, they were built by me in Blender, with all my love and incompetence

For Modders, when the player has lipstick effect, every 10 seconds it dispatches "aLPPlayerHasLipstick" event.

now let's see if "modders who make interactions among player and npcs" will catch what I was meaning with this sentence...

XD

Yups, that pretty much describes my lipstick life

Oh hey don't tell I didn't warn you

Just... wow. One awesome mod after another. Words just can't even...

Thanks CK, however first you should try and see if your character seems good with them lipsticks. Maybe it will be awful...

All of these wastelanders probably need some sort of lip balm for their chapped kissers, too.

So, even less fancy folk might want to get in on this.

Abssssolutely! but... only if they use long custom hair, or there will be some luminous glitch behind the head...

it would be awesome if it came in glossy or matte shades, or become a lip mod

They are very bright, I can't define that "glossy", it's how shaders are and usually it can't be changed, they can't be in any other ways. But due to the little things we can do, in general, and due to the huge limits the engine has, I still consider a lipstick like this a big result

It also can't be a lip mod because it would be a completely different mod :(

To make a comparison, it would be like asking for a eye mod on a thread about sunglasses

Looks interesting, but I can't seem to get it to work, I'm getting a really weird graphical error on my face after applying the lipstick. I'd upload a pic but the site seems to be having issues, maybe I'll get one up later. Basically my face gets all black and glitchy, kinda like there's a black layer trying to occupy the skin layer.

EDIT: It is most definitely the black area on the textures. Experimented by turning the black areas white and now my face is white with the same graphical errors in game.

The black is alpha channel. If your graphic handles the alpha as mine, then it will be invisible; if it doesn't, then it will be black, and it's what's happening.

Why your game is not handling alpha as my game does? I don't know, but we could investigate. Are you using some certain ENB, maybe?

I am using an ENB. I've got Enhanced Shaders installed in my setup.

I know of at least a case of ENB working correctly with this mod and its alpha, so I know some ENBs should work :)

ENBs can have some issues with transparency sometimes, I don't know details of it, what causes it.

For example in Willhaven I remember some ceilings in interiors were not visible if you had a ENB.

Also, in a mod I did some time ago a building was not visible with ENB active.

It should be some consequence of some peculiar shader, but I don't know technical details.

And now that I think... there's some "transparency fix" inside some ENB ini file, which should be turned off to make ENB working correctly with transparency. Maybe it's the same tweak that must be done for my shader to work correctly.

Okay, I'll have a look through my ini files to see if that works, brb with news.

EDIT: found and entry in enblocal.ini called "FixTransparencyBugs=True" I set that to false with no results. After checking the other main enb ini file, enbseries.ini, it doesn't seem to have an entry that controls transparency.

That was, exactly! :)

Then, I have no more ideas sorry. I wouldn't be surprised if the one who did Enhanced Shaders never noticed it was causing this issue with a black alpha, I used a vanilla trick which is very little used.

I had the issue with black faces using the Enhanced Shaders ENB (I even got a bit brighter face skin color without ENB), but managed to get it to work somewhat alright by filling in the alpha channels in the lipstick textures, and then setting "Membrane Shader - Dest Blend Mode" to "Source Inverted Alpha" in the effect shaders in the .esp.

The face skin color is not affected at all anymore, but the lip colors are pretty strong and kind of glowed in the dark. To combat this, I also messed around with some of the texture alpha settings in the effect shaders. The result is fairly ok, I think.

I'll upload the edited textures and an .esp patch here – From what I gather in the original post that should be ok, but let me know if it's not! It still needs the original mod, so put my .esp after it in the load order (or just copy the shader effect edits to the original .esp in FNVedit if you want to minimize your plugin count, there aren't that many edited records)

Thanks a lot for the cool mod!

Sure, and thank you. I'll post it on the OP with proper credits.

Can it go on nexus too?
