I'm having the following most bugging issue, that keep repeating itself:

  1. I get arrested.
  2. I arrive at the jail.
  3. I'm in my cell.
  4. Jailer want's me to follow him, but in this time a event trigger a punish animation at the same time.
  5. Event want's to follow jailer during this animation and the animation gets interrupted and character and jailer moves while still being in the punish animation.
  6. When the punishing timer runs out the jailer waits outside and I teleport with him.
  7. Now we're stuck and nothing happens.

It's a shame since this does n't happen only once but it happens anytime resulting in when I'm not able to reset reload a save... and then rinse and repeat the issue described above.

Any solutions to this issue? It looks like this happens only when 2 events happen on the same time or within ones timeframe (like 3 seconds in punishment event and the next event triggers will also get you stuck).

This all is on a clean save, clean Skyrim LE install with only a few mods installed (SkyUI, Racemenu, High poly headmesh, UNP body, SOS, True:9 widescreen, and of course the requirements in order to run this very mod).

No DDe installed, is this really necessary?

Thanks for the guide, sadly it has other compatibility issues with other mods so I try it on Skyrim LE anyway

May I ask what compatibility issues you're talking about? I'm running version 360 on Skyrim SE with 943 other mods installed, and it's working perfectly.

I'm looking for an immersive way to trigger the mod. My Dragonborn is quite good at sneaking and lockpicking and I refuse to fail on purpose, so most thievery isn't really a risk. And beyond the Dark Brotherhood radiant quests, which ideally are also done with a minimum footprint, there's not really an in-game reason to ever attack civilians let alone guard.

And mods to get my Dragonborn in trouble with the law in a "realistic" way?

On SE the following seems to be conflicting (the mod works but towns get empty and such)

  • JK Skyrim, getting stuck behind trees and extra buildings.
  • Distinctive interiors lots of clipping and getting stuck.
  • Open Cities, this causes empty cities during prison time.
  • Then some interruptions SLHH, Sexlab approach redux and SL defeat these all make the events go stuck on doing different animations of what should be going on.

Ah right. Yeah I'm running Dawn of Skyrim instead of JK's and I've had to remove some things through the console that were in the way of the pillories. Probably the best solution we have for that problem.

I have not tried with Open Cities but I imagine PoP will still use the normal city worldspace, and since Open Cities moves everything from it into the Tamriel worldspace the city will be empty. I used to have Open Cities but removed it because of incompatibilities with quite a few loverslab mods.

I am using Defeat and it has worked ok. I have it set to only knock me down when my health hits 0, but I imagine if you use the on-hit chances to get knocked down you might trigger Defeat from being whipped or similar in this mod. For mods like SLHH and Approach, I think the only way to make it compatible is to make PoP turn those other mods off when it's active, which I don't think will happen unfortunately. Best solution might be to manually turn those mods off when you get arrested.

You might want to check out Sexlab Survival and/or Sexlab Body Search. I haven't tried them with PoP myself but they both have ways of getting arrested and I don't see why they would be incompatible. Sexlab Adventures also has ways of getting arrested, might not be compatible with SL Survival though.

On SE I tryed without Open Cities (and fast foward selection, this seem to work since it teleports you to the location instead of walking or running, no biggy for me sinde the walk takes ages and I prefer to skip that xD) and it seem to work, but now Im testing and it looks like not even 1 npc in intrested in punishing me while in a pilory. Also the ZapDoggy01 seems to be broken.

I disabled override on ZAP since it overrides all other animation I got loaded in SL.

The pilory works in LE but does n't seem to work in SE (I can't get it to work porperly on LE so Im back to testing SE for now).

EDIT: about pillory in my last sentence, punishment only happens on mayor crimes, edit the mayor crime threshhold to lower values

Odd, I got version 44(X) POP running on Skyrim SE and it works 90% of the time now (without: "Open cities", with: JK Skyrim and fast forward toggle on):

  • Few times I CTD, but this seems like a limitation on scripts because it does n't crash on the same event.
  • Need to force AI few times mostly at the cage, I can live with this.
  • In Whiterun I always have the issue with the jailer punishing me and wanting me to follow him at the same time (when placed in the cell for the first time), the duration of the punishment is like 3-4 seconds (that's to short since it gets interrupted by the follow jailer trigger). Toggle off the animation override in ZAZ seems at least to finishing the punish animation scene, after the scene you'll get stuck with the jailer and rubberband back to him, this is the moment you force AI. Then you'll be taken to the whipping, pillory or cage, because of the reset I teleport back to jail and then run to the "the whipping, pillory or cage". Its not that bad I can live with this.

Is there a way to make the POPUP for SUM stop "compatibility warning about Sexlab Framework 1.63 being higher than 1.62"? Any time I load a save I get this message (I can confirm it IS compatible).

The same issues as described above I have on Skyrim LE, I stopped trying since a clean LE seems to be more buggy for me than fully modded SE is LOL.

@Inte Thanks for the great mod it is very fun to play! I really hope you'll make this mod more accessible for SE users one day :)

@Community always thanks for the help and replies we get!

My CTDs occur when being escorted to prison, during the loading to what I assume to be the final destination.

Can you enter your final destination while not under arrest? (with POP/SUM installed)

USCP adds fire damage triggers to fires/fireplaces in cities and interior cells. I got insta-killed during the cage event in Jorrvaskr. Had to remove the fire trigger with TES5Edit and now it works as it should. Unless dying immediately upon entering is the intended function? :D And that's only Whiterun. Might be more places where it can break things.

Oh no, the fireplace was meant as punishment not an execution. :classic_happy:

Another problem I've always had with Cage events and using Tags for SL scenes: as soon as the SL scene starts POP considers the punishment ended (even if the SL scene is still in progress) and it will break things. However, both Whipping and Bound punishments works as they should. Any solution to this, except for disabling Tags punishments?

Are you waiting, sleeping when this happens?

Try resetting your SL animation registry.

Yeah to be more specific:

  1. I get arrested
  2. Placed in jail
  3. Then the door closes
  4. Jailer tells me to get down
  5. Jailer walks to me
  6. Punishing start
  7. Console tells me it ended in like 3 seconds
  8. Still in the punish animation
  9. Jailer tells me to follow him
  10. Still in the punishment animation
  11. Characters begin to asct wierd on animations and are not aligned anymore
  12. Animation has ended
  13. We are outside the jail
  14. And we stay there
  15. Force AI will continue
  16. We teleport to a pilory (or whipping or w/e)
  17. I teleport back to jail
  18. Walks back to the pilory (or whipping or w/e) or I can teleport back to the jailer via mcm (safest way)

To be clear this happens on SE but also on my LE install seems like this doesn't make any difference :P

I have n't noticed any difference, don't think it matters then

Why is this mod not appearing on the MCM list at all in game? Yet it seems to partially work cause SUM does appear and shows the mod installed? I've already tried all of the LOs possible and even disabled some of my mods but it's just not appearing in-game.

Have you tryed a new game?

Yes I have, should've mentioned that as well. Maybe the installation was corrupted or something?

Right, well the mcm is sometimes very slow and wil not show up in time for some reason.

Try this command line into your console:

setstage SKI_ConfigManagerInstance 1

If that doesn't work sometimes playing the game for like an hour fixes the issue automatically (use fast travel from one to another location).

The above solutions worked for me all the time, if it doesn't for you I'm clueless :/ and I'm sorry I couldn't have been of much more help.

I forgot to mention earlier but got it working by just playing the game for a bit as you suggested! Thanks for the help.

I'm currently running version 360 of this mod (which is the last version that doesn't require Skyrim Utility Mod), and so far it seems to be working though I've just begun testing. The latest version of PoP gave me consistent CTD whenever I got arrested and reached the Dragonsreach Dungeon.

If you'd like to try it yourself do the following:

TLDR: Use version 360 of PoP and optimize the meshes.

Extended explanation:

1. Download Prison Overhaul Patched version 360.

2. Extract PoP from the zip to a folder (not into your game yet).

3. Download SSE NIF Optimizer

4. Open the .exe file from SSE NIF Optimizer.

5. Click Browse and select the folder where you extracted PoP to in Step 2.

6. Make sure Sub Directories and Head Parts Only is selected and leave everything else as it is.

7. Click Optimize. It shouldn't take very long to do, mine takes about half a second but it may vary.

8. When it says Ready! at the bottom again it's all done. If you want to double check you can look at the files in the meshes folder of PoP and Date Modified should have changed to the time you clicked Optimize.

9. Install the mod the way you prefer (either manually by dragging all the files and folders from the mod to your Data folder, or zip the files back up and install with a mod manager).

Again, I haven't tested it too much. The mod wasn't made for SE so there might still be bugs. Version 360 of the mod is however working a lot better for me on SE than the most recent.

I did this and it seemed to work at first. The problem is that once the guard has arrested the dragonborn and placed her in a kneeling position, he just freezes and nothing happens. It stays like that perpetually, regardless of any kind of debug or teleport shenanigans I try. If I have a follower, they'll get arrested as well before the freezing happens. Is this maybe a compatibility thing or? Have you had this issue?
