Deviously Cursed Loot LE 9.0 (2021-03-09)

Possible Bug: The Maiden's Shield will not come off after the timer has expired. I can go into my inventory and select to remove the Maiden's Shield and I get the message that says it's removed but it's still there.  I've tried saving, reloading, traveling and waiting but nothing will get it to come off. Console commands do not work either.  The only way to get rid of the device is to load a save before it was equipped. I searched this thread for solutions and it appears this is a problem for others as well.  I now avoid the device completely as it's effectively permanent. 

 

Also I recently completed the Chloe quest and it was a lot of fun. Perhaps we can save Chloe from other predicaments in the future?

Could there be some issue with MCM settings changes not being honored by the scripts?

I just exited Lucans shop, and once outside, i got the following message:
 

You find a few restraining devices. You can feel the

items radiating with arcane energy. Holding the

devices in your hand makes you horny. Breathing

heavily and without thinking about the

consequences you lock them shut on yourself, one

after the other.


and i got locked in number of devices, but the MCM setting "Self Bondage enabled" (under "Consequences") is unchecked, as is the "Self Bondage when already restrained" and "Bondage Lover". So, where did those items came from?
If they are from triggering a trap on the doors, then again, the "Devious Doors" setting is ON, but so is the "...Locked Doors only!", so that door shouldn't have triggered anything, because it wasn't locked.

 

EDIT: I realized that it is night time, which means the door would be locked from outside.
Is that what is happening here? that the door I USE to exit the shop are unlocked, but somehow the system does the check on the door that is outside which is indeed locked becuse the shop is closed?

1. +1 on Maiden's Shield getting stuck. Message about timer expiry went on, option to remove belt appeared, but doesn't work, blacksmiths and allies can't remove it either.

2. Devious Devices debug command "Remove Quest Items" removed Shield, so far no negative effects found. Well, it also removed whore collar, but with my DCL settings I believe I will get it back soon enough 😃

I think Sasha is not the "problem" you say she is. Playing with her as mistress is comparable easy to the others available and I'd never seen a conflict with DD-items created by herself. Out of town she unlocks the yoke that you can fight and a kind of normal leveling is still possible. 

But what I miss and what is more of a problem is when you "only" install DDi, DDa, DDe and DCL that there is no standard helper to unlock someone - or I didn't found it.. There is a chance that somebody unlocks you if you configure the MCM but no person that can help you out. If DCL presents you with mittens you got no chance to unlock yourself even if have 1000s of keys. You need  a mod like dd-helper or CD to unlock you. Maybe the Khajit - caravaneers could be included in the standard as master-locksmiths. Unlocking for money, unlocking for a time of servitude or special tasks or items like the one with the mammoth tusk for Ysolda . And sometimes they even could betray you and sell you as a slave to Leon, Leah etc. That kind of work would fit well in the shady characters as thief in the lore.

Difficulty of unlocking or struggling yourself from mittens or anything really depends on your MCM settings for DD. If you set struggle chance easiest, you can get mittens off rather easily. And if you disable hardcore mittens and turn down difficulty they won't drop the keys that much. The problem is finding right difficulty level for each setting, and it affects all devices. I'm not playing on easiest myself, but it doesn't hurt trying it few times.

 

I think the shopping quest was trying to be that kind of last resort for anyone to help you out of serious trouble. It does work for that, at least mostly. Could be some restraints it didn't remove? But you're right the struggle/unlock mechanics are in a little odd place right now, and mods often make it too trivial.

 

I guess what we are really after are consequences of further things happening when you do get in trapped devices. Other mods are filling that void a little but there still could be more ideas.

I know, but why change the difficulty settings for the whole mod because of one kind of item, when the rest works fine ? The suggested solution with the Kahjit would open a new way to get help when locked and open the way for a whole bunch of quests. Not only with mittens but for other situations that slows or stop the gameplay. It could even be a solution for the gamers that are for need-mods and could get them a chance to get rid of the gag. Maybe deal with the Kahjit to switch the normal with a panel gag for a special price :) or a dialog like "You look like you are starving. I change your gag for one you can eat with"

@seanthiar The difficulty of each individual device should be customizable on CK/TESEdit level but i don't know much about that yet. I've been wanting to tune some devices myself too. If only there were global settings for each device type.

 

Problem with Khajiit caravans is that they're never there when you want them to be. According to some sources they stay 2 days at each hold, one at the time and then can make random stops in wilderness. So if player hasn't eaten for days, it would be unreliable to depend on finding them. That's why i'm more in favor of ideas like new mansions etc. I think of Dollmaker shop just as a good starting point of content, but the idea could propably still be expanded way more. Maybe even complete overhaul. There could be ways to have player carried to the place. Like bandits might sell captured people for the mansion.

I know this may sound a bit like Captured Dreams shop (now obsolete) but it's a kind of mod we really need.

That the Kahjit are always on the way  is a kind of difficulty I feel would be ok. Because a dialog option could be added to inn-owners, beggars or others that could have intimate contact with Kahjit. when you talk to them that they say "Oh, when you want to get rid of your devices just talk to the Kahjit" as a stage where you can react to to start a quest to get help loose/change your items. And while in that quest you get a map-link to the nearest Kahjit that can help. I remember in one mod a follower stole and sold my items and I had to search for a specific Kahjit to buy them back and with the map-link I only had to fast travel to Riften to talk with him. 

But if you think Kajhit are to hard to find - Riften could be another way to solve that. It's the town of the thieves guild. There could be a master locksmith specialised in removing the devices because enough thieves are caught in devices when they are on their thieveries and adventurers could profit of its skill to unlock the devices. And if you are a member of the thieves guild you get a discount. The possibilty to include quests that you must solve for the locksmith would be still available.

If I were further in learning how to work with the CK I would make something like that myself.

It is in the solicitation menu. Maybe you need to be wearing at least one restraint

would make no sense to have no restraint and offer sex for keys, just to have some in stock. what exactly is the line in solification that refers to it ?

You didn´t find it.

Blacksmiths have the dialoug option even for high securtiy restraints.

"Can you remove these high security restraints?"

 

Every vendor has a dialoug option.

"I have been locked in restraints. Can you please help me?"

BUT!!! If you use it once, it will disappear for an amount of time AND there is a catch ;) Currently I did not have a closer look how long it is disappearing, because there was no need.

 

Funny. You asked for a feature done by Kahjit every vendor is able to do already. Have a look in the MCM. Bondage Quest page. Everything is there.

You got it reverse. It is too easy to struggle out of certain devices like boots, gags, armbinders and mittens. What i would edit is to make them harder.

I am not sure this thing about that dialogue is accurate. Sometimes I can repeat that conversation several times with the same merchant, sometimes it disappears and sometimes it is not there to begin with. Haven't figured out a pattern yet, but if there is one, it seems to be more complicated than a cooldown.

Just checked - false. I even started a new char put some cuffs on and got to a vendor - No dialog option and and same at the blacksmith. I know there are mods that adds these options but if you don't install them you don't have the options. Even the dollmaker - she gives you the dialog but the last she says is she can't unlock you.

I don't have any DD mod beside DCL and I can 100% guarantee that blacksmiths have a special dialogue for HIGH SECURITY items (any cuffs you might have found and didn't auto-lock on you isn't high security. it actually says "high security" in the name. The thing for all the vendors must be checked in the MCM, and I am quite certain that by default it is off. And as I mentioned in my last post, sometimes it just randomly don't work for a while.

Basically when you start a game with DCL, you really gotta take these 10 minutes to cover the entire MCM to make sure you don't miss anything important (just another example: the "damsel in distress" and "estrus" events are by default set to 0 chance, so people who don't check might wonder why they never happen).

The option really is on the Bondage Adventure Page from Cursed Loot. It is page 13. As I told before, there is a catch. The Dialog has more the one possible outcome.

It is a quest option and you can end on a Bondage Quest rather than get rid of your restraints in default settings. Just what you suggested without beeing restricted to Kahjit caravans. You can adujst the setting to a 100% rescue option. Just set the Unlock full set as the only valid option.

I milled through the scripts to a certain degree to find the timer or whatever Kimy used to make this option appear. But after the third cross reference thought to myself: " Why? Just to prove I´m right?" Stupid me.

Believe it or not: It is part of DCL.

Happens only when bondage quest is active - if not ..... and what about when you don't use DCL ? I'm not talking about special quests where there is an option. It's about a more generic help included in DDa, DDi or DDe.

No, it hasn't got anything to do with the real bondage adventure quest actually. It's just that we don't know what makes it so "Can you help me with these restraints?" dialog itself sometimes just doesn't appear. If it never appears then you might really be blocking it some way, either mod conflict or even broken save. I know firsthand how easy it is to break a save. Like i kept disabling mods from my current setup to the point that when i fresh installed DCL, not even solicitation triggered any sex animations neither with male or female and without chastity... Checking with resaver, indoors there were only 4 active scripts too. I had used a savecleaner too, so even that could have broken things. Shame though, i wanted to try the bound animations part some have troubles with 😛  I fully assume armbinder sex animations are still working.

out of curiosity, is there a known fix for the prison guards appearing in whiterun now and constantly keeping it in a state of fighting? its rather inconvienient to have this keep happening. i searched this topic and only found mentions of the problem, no solution

Yes. basically if you set the chance for an event to happen to 0 and he effect of arousal on that chance to 0, then traps will never trigger but all the other functions will work, including solicitation, rape, aroused self-bondage, crime handling and a few quests such as chloe, leon and bound queen. (probably missed something here XD)

 

(do note, however, that some functions, such as the rubber doll quest, can only be triggered by traps)

For the most part yes - I think there are a few bits that you can't disable in the MCM menu right now, like the alternate crime system.  There may be console options around that - I haven't tried them myself as I don't have any other alternate crime mods I care to use.

 

Most of the quests are triggered by the player directly (talking to DCUL NPCs, or in a few cases picking up specifically placed cursed items in the world) so are easily avoided.  The more extreme outcomes are usually either cursed events that you can set to 0% (or disable entirely if you aren't using the traps anyway) or are dialogue outcomes you can set to 0% chance to happen.  If you do end up in a quest you don't want to do - the Free Me option generally works fine to stop the quest and remove quest devices.
