Japanese Dubbing.

Recommended Posts

Hello, Long-time lurker here, first time posting.

Today, during my usual MOD-surfing, I came across this video:

Seems like you can download the voice files for the Japanese version to make all voices in the game spoken in Japanese.

As I've been impressed, I looked around for the files, since I don't have a Steam copy of the game, but my web-fu has failed me. Would anybody have access to these files?

Thanks

I'm curious, how do the player voices (dragon shouts, specifically) sound in Japanese? Does anyone know of a video of them?

I prefer to keep my game in English, but when more beautification mods roll out I might want a different FUS RO DAH.

Oh.. that sucks. You'll have to just change your language on steam to Japanese to get them or something like that. I think there was a tutorial on the nexus detailing how you can re-download only the voice files rather than the entire game in JP.

Alright, here's the whole pack. Took me half a day to upload, damn internetz lol.

Edit: For some reason the linking is broken and shows all the file parts except one, despite me putting the correct URL. So either remove the %E2%80%8B that shows up at the end of the link, or use these individual links:

Directly in the data folder, replace the Skyrim - Voices and Skyrim - VoicesExtra bsa's. Make sure to back up your original ones!

What I find ironic is some Japanese players enjoy using the English voices' date=' while some of you English players want to use the Japanese voices.

Well, I personally enjoy learning the language and would take any opportunity to do so, even while playing games. Plus, some of the voice acting in English is laughable. You don't really notice that in Japanese ;)

Since the CK is going to usher in some very anime-esque mods, I thought I might as well get the voices to accompany it.

After watching some YouTube videos, I concede... I like the Japanese voices better. They sound much more accentuated, clear, and enthusiastic. Japan's niche for visual novel voice acted gaming have provided them an edge over Americans. The first thing American voice actors always say is how weird it is they must place themselves in the minds of their on-screen persona's, but to the Japanese with their innate talent in the visual novel industry, this comes natural. When Japanese are born from their mother's wombs, they have a natural talent for voice acting. This is true.

I can only agree with ReMeDy. I started out with the german version ( :motherofgod: ) then switched to english and still wasn't satisfied and when I read that there was a japanese dubbed version I immediately got it. Sounds just awesome (well might be because I'm an anime freak and love the language in general but nonetheless the japanese voices are way better).

It's more than just a "natural talent" (which I doubt they have more of than anywhere else) that gives them an edge - it's the works ethics. The Japanese, like most Asian people, have some of the world's most strict work ethics. The voice actor would get the script in advance, practice through nights, get really into character, and deliver a truly believable performance. Such is not true, unfortunately, for western voice actors.

As one of my favorite VO guys ever - D.C. Douglas - once said, "For movies, you get the script, practice it for days, get into character. For TV Series, you get the script the same day, run over it once, and wing it as best you can. For video games? You show up."
