IMPORTANT: Changes to Downloads

After much debate between site staff and and contributors. We have decided it is in the best interest of the site to start enforcing the use of the site's Download functionality (http://www.loverslab.com/files/). It provides a much easier interface for finding and managing various downloads than the mess various unstructured threads in the download category forums.
 
What does this mean for future downloads?

• You will no longer be able to create topics in the Download forum categories. However once you have uploaded a file (via the upload form)  a forum topic will be automatically generated for you and posted in the forum download categories, mirroring your downloads.
• Your automatically generated topic will be linked from your download via the "Support Topic" icon on the right hand side of your downloads view page.
• You do NOT have to upload the file to LoversLab to use this system, when uploading you can click " Link to a file" to post a URL to the download instead.
• LoversLab's upload size limit will remain unchanged at 100MB, bigger files will need to either upload in parts, or link to the file instead, as described above.

What does this mean for my existing downloads?

• If you've already setup your file on the download system; it means nothing at all to you.
• If you have not moved your file to the download system and still just have your forum topic. We request that you move your existing files on the download system that are not yet there, as soon as possible.
  • ​Once you have setup your existing file in the download system, you will have 2 threads, your original thread, and the auto generated thread created by the download system. Contact me via PM or post about it in this announcement thread, and we will merge your 2 threads so you you don't lose your existing posts.
  • If you do not do move your download over to the download system yourself, we will begin manually moving downloads that have not done so ourselves once a sufficient enough time has passed for people to see this announcement and move their files. However, this is a very long and very tedious process for us to do, as it involves more steps for use to do than it will for you. So I beg of you, move your downloads yourselves as soon as possible.
• If you have a download buried in some multi-purpose thread, rather than in it's own topic somewhere, we encourage you to break that out into it's own download by uploading it to the download system.

I don't see the reason as not to start topics in the download section , what about smaller mods such as armor/weapon edits or retextures by posting everything in the downloads then the downloads will just be spammed and we won't be able to find the important mods .

Letting threads still be posted manually completely defeats the point and would make this entire effort pointless, because it would be no different than it was before. The goal here is to STOP files from being split up between 2 different sections, and instead make both sections the same. The files being split up as they are now just makes where people should search more confusing.

 

The downloads section will be broken up into categories, instead of just "Skyrim Non Adult Mods" there will be "Armor & clothes", "Models & Textures", "Races" and such. Which will alleviate exactly what youre talking about with smaller mods.

What should I do with a collection of different mods? My fejeenas stuff page with Mods, clothes, replacers, resources, ...

Split and make individual Downloads? I am glad that I have everything on one page.( pretty easy for me     difficult to find for everyone other   )

I do not want to have so many pages. Will there be a category "different stuff" or "collections" (or "Junk"), or is it possible to link a page to different categories?

You can have them all on one download page, max size for a download is 100mb per file.

 

Your page would operate like the one here.

 

If you want to upload multiple files in one go, make sure you are using the advanced uploader and then just select the ones you want to upload.

 

The guide should be up tomorrow on how to do all this

About year ago i started topic "scrapyard" and now all attachments in there are too old for use. So i'd prefer to kill them all (and thread itself) instead of moving them to d/l section (i almost sure i have not permission to kill it by myself though).

Also i'd agree with Veta about some mini- and micro- attachments, which can lose their sense(meaning?) being riped from discussion content if "new d\l order" will be blindly applied "to all" attached files. For example, today i posted small "patch"  in BrutalRapers thread, for experiments with TTW-BR compatibility only -- i think it shouldn't be in common downloads, because its "try" (not "use") nature.

You can load multiple files into your plugin's download page and if you label that patch as "experimental" or a "beta" that should more than suffice.

I managed to get my download page created, thanks to Ark's tutorial 

 

I'm not really concerned about the old thread, as I think I covered pretty much everything users of my mods need to know. I should be okay to support everything from the new thread. So a mod/admin can remove the old thread at their convenience

Is it possible to link screens from the download section part to the support topic? For ex i'm currently using:

But 15410 part changes after some time for no apparent reason, so screens disappear from the support topic. Not very useful i must say.

Also, a heads up to everyone, Ashal has added multi-part 7zip archive support for .000 to .009 to the forum downloads.  That means we can now host mods up to 1GB compressed via ten 100MB files.
