Nord Race has weird text bug and dollar signs in texts

Just woke up to this a little while ago.. yesterday everything was running fine with mods, came back today, noticed mod menus had these in front of words...$... dollar signs... and lots of vowels had weird accent squiggly lines on top of them and it's only happening with the Nord race. From what I understand and from what NMM is telling me it's my ECE mod. I think it's a UI issue but all the SWF files are there and the in-game menus work, it's the text is glitched and the save and load options are greyed out so I can't even do that. Then I thought it was a Alternate Start: Live Live Another Life mod issue, but that runs just fine. I've done the whole rundown, reinstalled the mod, reinstalled the game itself, verified integ, LOOT'ed the for load orders, TES5Edit. All green lights, all come back fine load orders, and yet after all that, still have greyed out load/save options, still have dollar signs in the text and the only race that seems to have all these problems are the Nord options. When I test run with any other race I can save and load. Can someone please help?

Your NMM version talks to you? What does it say ?

On your screenshot you have some odd custom race selected and not nord. Does RM UI also fail if you choose a vanilla race?

ECE + RM aren't exactly what you could call compatible. Although they work together, but I don't remember the necessary steps. If you only need mesh and textures from ECE for a   preset or Race you could deactivate the ECE.esp and check how that goes.

Did you check for odd language entries? If you have a language mod with another font it might overwrite RM UI.

definitively sounds like you have some mod with an Russian or Asian front installed that overwrites RM.

 

Basically the odd text bug is another language font than the one your Skyrim is installed with.

The Nord race doesn't show up in the default selection where it's supposed to be which I think would be under the Khajiit and above the Orc, I don't have any custom race mod installed, never have, I've only played Nord. I only use ECE never used Race Menu, and this problem is brand new to me. In the picture it looks like what is supposed to be the Nord selection was pushed down to the bottom and the text associated with it looks like it's been corrupted. The thing is, this problem came out the blue, I was in Solstheim, saved the game, quit the game, went to bed and the next day I opened up Skyrim with my character presenting the weird text. Opened up the mod menu and everything listed began in dollar signs. Started a new game and took a screenshot of the change. What is weird however every other race that I've picked runs normally, no weird text no dollar signs and the save/load options are not inaccessible. I even went as far as using an earlier version of ECE to see if the files in the version I was using, were specifically bugged or corrupted...the same issue happens with the older ECE files. I went into the ECE interface TXT file and found it full of dollar signs...

In all the translation files it's the same thing as well but I don't have any mods or plugins for translations then i went into my SKSE plugins folder and found the TXT file and this happened...

Could the Nord race been damaged somehow? I just booted up NMM and an error pops up

Ithink the problem lies in the ECE mod itself for some reason NMM loads that particular mod slower than usual now, doesn't matter if it's a reload or a brand new load using a brand new copy I download. At the very least I know that the issue is ECE now.

so tried deactivating the esp in the load order booted up and this happened...

I'll continue to work on this to see if I can find a fix but until then I'll try out another race to see if the problem extends to them as well.. at least we discovered that it was ECE causing the issue and isn't still a mystery. And jlttsmiley30 I'll download the mod you suggested, see if it fixes the issue.

Pointless. First, installing another mod when you have a problem is seldom the way forward. Second, ECE can and does work with RM (I've done it myself in the past).

Whatever your problem is it is something you have done or not done. So you need to decide whether ECE is worth all this hassle and either bin it or re-check the info on what you have to do.
