Doesn't follow.  Keeping males at 5-10 percent of the population and using them like stud livestock is probably not a good social strategy, but that doesn't mean that men don't produce that much sperm.

 

There's two separate issues there.

It doesn't matter how much sperm is produced, it's about how much genetic diversity is maintained.

They don't have to be the same, female genetic diversity will be diminished if the same 100 men are impregnating every woman because a child's genetic diversity is carried half and half from both parents. This is a separate issue from sperm disposability.

That's exactly what I've been saying, yes men produce more sperm then women produce eggs but the genetic material being carried on to the next generation is much more important then who has the most eggs/swimmers.

The mankind is larger than 1000 people. It surely went though a couple of bottlenecks, but never was that small.

Bottlenecks were only brief and ended in heavy migrations and tapering of genetic scarcity. Over time the results of a bottleneck will disappear, but if a bottleneck stays constantly the group will reach a point of no return with genetic problems. This is what killed many tribes in the past.

Human genetics doesn't stack linearly. A human is genetically much further to other humans than a lion is to other lions and that's because for us, our immediate parents contribute half of our genetic signature. The physical manifestations of said genetic features can vary based on many factors during and after conception, but both parents contribute just as much to the child and tampering with that breeding structure leads to bottlenecking and long term genetic anomalies on a societal scale.

Like "they all look the same"? This is really scientific, you know. More scientific than studies showing that lions are one of the most diverse species of mammals thanks to their males walking long distances to establish a new pride. One could say that their males actually work to increase genetic diversity. That's how they kept up their diversity for ages (before people started disrupting it). Because even if you keep 1:1 ratio and all males get offspring, in a closed group where people rarely leave the tribe/vilage/town, the diversity will dive. It's not the raw numbers that matter the most, but dynamics. Just a relatively small amount of genes moving around the global pool is more that enough to keep the population diverse.

 

P.S. practical conclusion: if you want to get laid more, travel. And yeah, it works.
