*NEW One-sided Crushing, Blushing, Sentiments, and Gender-Specific Turn-Ons and -Offs update!* ERO adds one-sided crushing, dynamic trait compatibility with other modders' traits, attraction, compatibility, new interactions, nationalities, and much more! Automate your Sim's physical traits from CAS, see how funny, how compatible, and how attractive your Sim views all other Sims, randomize everyone's turn-ons and -offs, enable or disable attractiveness buffs on your Sims, and much, much more! You'll have to try it to get a feel for everything that it can do! There are even more options available in the shift+click menu on each Sim for an experience tailored exactly to your liking, but I advise you don't use any of the big 2 "Force Recalculate" options (Attractions and Affinities) unless you're prepared to wait a bit for the data to be recalculated, dat computer of yours will have to do a fair bit of math!

This mod requires an update to version 1.71 or later of S4CL. If you don't already have it, please read the requirements section listed below in blue.

Compatibility is a priority in this mod; it is made to enhance the Sims experience and work harmoniously alongside any other mods like it. There are no known conflicts right now: that includes anything made by KiaraSims4Mods, Lumpinou, Turbo, KawaiiStacie, etc. If you do discover any conflicts with other mods, especially romance mods, please let me know and I'll check it out when I can.

Hi guys! I'm Etheria and I make mods! To that effect, the Sims is a game we know and love for its ability to engross us in making lives of our own full choosing and control, but let's face it: for many of us, it doesn't really feel real in certain aspects of the vanilla game. One of the biggest of these for me is the romance, or rather, the lack thereof! When Sims touch and kiss, they barely get closer to each other for more than a second! C'mon, who the heck hugs their partner like that?! Things like this mean it often feels like the game treats romance as a side-gimmick rather than a real and fully-fleshed-out part of life, and I find myself feeling dissatisfied with how the Sims I have who are supposed to be completely head-over-heels for each other are just...coexisting lukewarmly. I aim to be part of what changes that.

So I felt like creating a mod that makes romance a thing in the Sims that people can connect with, one that's best made possible through a unique union of code, animation, and storytelling, with a mixture of attractions, affinities/compatibilities, and opinions your Sim has to/about other Sims, among many other features!

Requirements:

Translations:

  • For all those who would like to translate this mod, thank you! No reposts of ERO to other sites are allowed (though you can upload the translation separately by itself), so send me your translation and I will add it to the mod, and you can link to it from other sites or just post the translation alone on other sites. :D

Known Issues:

  • The dialog box text in the Settings menu will start moving down more and more after you add attractions. This is not actually an issue with this specific mod, but rather many mods that have menus in general, and it has occurred since one of the latest game patches. I'm sure will eventually be fixed, but it's pretty low priority since all you have to do is reopen the menu for it to realign.
  • When automating a Sim's physical traits based on their CAS data, a Sim's eyebrow hair color will sometimes be chosen as their hair color instead of their head hair color if the two are different. This is an issue with how the Sims 4 assigns tags; both eyebrow hair and head hair colors use the head hair color tags, and I only allow automation of physical traits to assign one hair color to a Sim. The fix for this right now is to set their hair color manually if you see it chose the eyebrow color instead. Sims 4 tags also have other weird issues: see extra screenshots of this with the hair and eye color examples at the bottom of this post.

An attractiveness system based on both looks and personality, but also life experience! reporter.gif

Ever wanted to feel more attracted to the Sim of your dreams? What if a guy has gray hair and that's just not your thing? What if she's short (you didn't forget about height slider mods, did you?) and that's totally your thing (cute teddy-sized girls, amirite?!)? What if the Sim has kids and even though you're looking for a serious relationship, you're just not ready for possibly becoming a step-mom? Sorry Simdr date, you're great but that?s just too much for my Sim to handle at this point in their life!

Or if she's an airhead who spends half of her day talking on her phone and only ever wants to talk about her friends and makeup? Boorring.

That sweet introverted girl who is quiet to most, but opens up like a blooming flower when you start talking about video games? Totally your style.

The guy who takes a ridiculous amount of pride in his hair and his swag? Ooh, a bad boy's the one for you, eh? Your Sim has a high Affinity for that! Or at least for now they do!

Has your Sim dated 20 different Sims and their secret admirer is a complete relationship newbie? Well, maybe that admirer won't feel so warm towards you after finding that little piece of info out through the grapevine!

Want to know if a Sim has had their first kiss? Ask them! Want to know who that person was? You can ask them that too, but careful, they may not want to answer if they don't know you well enough or think you're a jealous and destructive person!

Or what if a girl's a homewrecker basically as a hobby, specifically seeking out men who are already taken and trying to Woohoo their brains out like it's some sort of winner-takes-all game? ...That would be kinda hot to some Sims, huh?

Maybe your Sim wants to try out that classic temptation vs. foundation in their love life only to regret it horribly later as they're forced by their spouse to tell their kids about their affair? Ddrrraama!
These are all examples of the kinds of scenarios you can insert into your game with ERO! You decide, with an attractiveness system that makes BOTH physique AND personality come into play!
(Seeing attractive features and personalities will make your Sim feel flirty. If your Sim sees someone who has a certain number of traits they find attractive, they will get whims to want to flirt with them!) icon6.gif

Totally new, custom animations for your Sims [future] jester.gif

What can bring a romance to life more than ANIMATIONS, amirite?! Happily, I am not only a dreamer of what love can be, but also an animator! Thus, through connecting with the game's code, a huge chunk of the interactions I add will have their own custom animations. Let's get those snuggles, cuddles, and kisses to the next level, and make flirting feel real.

Real affection, real touching. Real smooth~

Add your favorite traits from other modders via my Settings menu instead of using a precious trait slot in CAS anime.gif

Ever wanted to have more than 3 traits on your Sim, especially since there are so many good custom content ones? Want your favorite trait to be included in the Attractiveness system? Me too! Included is support for some of my favorite traits to play with, the Greek god-inspired traits by PurpleThistles! You may play with different traits than me, so I'll start by supporting some of a handful of my favorites by other modders, but then will add support for the most wanted traits. This way you can add as many traits from your mod folder to a Sim as you want! Supporters can vote on which trait I'll support next. This requires you to make just one tiny modification to the trait in most cases (change the trait type from "PERSONALITY" to "GAMEPLAY" in Sims 4 Studio), which is a very simple process shown in this gif:
MTS_Etheria-1961171-EnablingCCTraitsforE

Note: Some of the Sims 4's tags are wildly inaccurate. For one particularly bad example, the game labels both red and purple eyes as "amber" eyes (I don't even lol.gif). There's more detail in the screenshots below, but right now the only fix is to set these strangely-tagged ones manually (full list in these screenies):

So just for clarification , this can work along side Whicked Whims attraction system, or is this something I'll want to have override it?

Can work just dandy alongside it and the vast majority of other mods; if you spot any incompatibilities just let me know! ^.^

First off, thanks for uploading it here. Been having an eye on this mod since I first saw it over at MTS but didn't want to download it just yet, but gave in as soon I saw it here.

So I'm messing about with it a little bit in-game as I'm typing this and I've already ran into some (possible?) bugs.

Picking physical traits for my sim, choosing straight hair gives me curly hair trait; curly hair gives me wavy hair trait, wavy hair gives me straight hair trait.

When trying to pick straight teeth, it gives me straight+gap+buck teeth traits.

Don't know if it's come kind of compatibility issue of some kind, or what. Just wanted to mention it.

Anyway, looking forward to see what else you add to this mod ?

I think I'd use this if I could generate attractiveness based on a specific sim, my sims just seem to find each other very unattractive, unless its from mods? But I put in all their own traits and everything but it did not do anything.

The teeth thing is definitely a bug, but the rest is actually an issue with how the Sims 4 tags traits. Also, if you have brown eyebrows and black head hair, the trait might be auto-set as brown instead of black because eyebrows share head hair color tags. I will be uploading these screenshots to the main page, but here's an idea of what we're working with just with hair and eye colors alone (especially take a look at the second screenshot with eye colors):

Do try again with 2.1 and let me know if the problem persists! Also, there is a "Mark as Dream Sim" interaction if you shift+click a Sim. ^.^

How does this work if/when using cc hair, brows, and eye contacts since many are not Maxis Match EA colors?

I don't know if they are tagged with brown hair, blonde hair, etc., since so many are mixed or shaded.

Think the WW Attractiveness system was having trouble ID'ing cc hair and cc eye colors.

I do love the concept of also using sims traits instead of just appearance alone.

And the EA Romance/Animations surely need a severe tuneup.

Is there a way you could add your new traits system by using the trait rewards instead of editing any files?

The issue with CC is that the game doesn't technically know what color those hairs/eyes/etc. are; it didn't make those colors and it doesn't account for them. The simple fix is to assign those ones manually; accounting for CC is a big part of why I made a manual option to begin with, so you get full control over what hair color etc. your Sim is seen as having no matter if EA recognizes it or not.

Funnily enough, that's how this mod started out, with everything being done through reward traits, but no, that system wasn't as good. If you want to make sure no extra traits stay on your Sim, use the Remove functions available in the Settings menu. If you want to delete the calculated data like attractions or affinities altogether, just delete the "etheria_romanceoverhaul" folder in your Saves folder.

Thanks, I think I was confused about the editing traits part but I don't use any other cc traits anyway.

So your mod allows using more than the default 3 slot EA CAS traits to be used?

Correct. :) But for any CC traits that are not set up that way, I need their id number and then also you or the trait creator has to make an edit to make the trait a "GAMEPLAY" trait, like in the gif shown on the download page.

Got it, thanks.

Really liking it so far, Also I really love that theres a homewrecker trait. I was literally making a post the other day asking if there is one or if anyone was working on one lol.  Everything is running seemingly fine for me, but I was wondering, is there any chance we can get a merged package in the future, or does it have to remain separate for functionality? [I've heard some creators require their packages seperate for functionality, and im not sure how the coding goes in those regards :( ]

Hehe, glad you like it! I definitely needed a trait like it in my own Simworld. I'll be adding more intrigue to that trait and others too. :D

For right now ERO will remain in a couple different packages; it's just waay better for me organization-wise. Having everything in one package file makes the string tables and tuning files just an absolute mess to search through, especially since Sims 4 Studio doesn't have many ways to keep the data aligned neatly upon each opening of the file. (Great program, but jeez does it seriously lack consistent organization options!)

I figured something like that would of been the case as to why some modders have multiple package files and some only have 1. But I agree from the storytelling aspect having a trait like that in the mix is def a great idea. even the UwU one lmao. I can also tell the mod is working amazingly, because i got frustrated yesterday from the fact Im always trying to make romance more realistic in the game, then after installing this and having 2 sims find eachother unattractive that I was trying to hook up I was like "Wait a minute...They dont like eachother... They find eachother unattractive... Its working!!" hahaha

Seems not to work if I use Devious Desires/SimSnatcher and your Mod together in one game. After loading the household, Sims are standing around, doing literally nothing, game is not paused but the clock doesn`t move forward and I`m unable to click on anything. After removing Devious Desires/SimSnatcher (or ERO) everything worked just as it should. *sighs*

I'm not gonna lie, that's kind of hilarious and something I never would have foreseen. I'll look into it as best as I can; compatibility with everything is a priority, and it could also mean a script is acting in a strange way.

Devious Desires seems to be wired only to prevent interactions during animations and Sim Snatcher seems to only prevent animations if a Sim is captive, so I'm not sure the problem is really within combining them, to be honest.

Those are two different mods, try removing one of them and seeing if the issue persists rather than assuming it is both of them, since they are unrelated to each other.

I`m absolutely aware of that, but the result for me is the same. It doesn`t work with Devious Desires and also not with Sim snatcher, no matter if I remove only one of them, that`s why I named them both. Sorry, I didn`t want to offend anybody, just thought it could be helpful if I told it here?
