(v1.4.3) Mod Organizer 2 & Other tools - From zero to "Hey Sexlab is working!"

ok it seems to be something wrong with my settings in SOS. I just got it to work, I had to assign a schlong to the actor, the girl was in underwear. it seems to be some kind of setting within the game itself. I think I read somewhere of a way to unassign and reassign to all NPCs.

editing this: I am looking in bodyslide and the dropdown menus are all empty. I am assuming this is how the bodies get assigned to NPCs?

No. You shouldn't need to assign anything manually unless you're using weird mods not covered here.

Bodyslide has its own section. You build the bodies and they apply to every valid actor (and by default it's only for women actors).

Thank you for this, everything actually works and I have learned alot.

You're welcome. I'm glad this is still useful despite the recent events.

I might update a new file to cover both SE 1.5 and 1.6, since there are enough support to have a new Sexlab release at least. I'd like to wait a bit to see if Bethesda does yet another small update though.

Hi So i just got a decent new laptop and wanted to try my hand at using mods for skyrim. I am looking through your guide and i want to clarify something. My Laptop only comes with one drive and this disallows me from moving the game from the originally installed  Steam folder of C program files etc. should I still go ahead with how it is? I know what you said of it being strongly recommended to change but i don't really have any options. unless maybe uninstalling steam and changing the install folder is an option.

You can install Steam in another folder (outside of \ProgramFiles\) or move the Steam library, which is explained in the linked article from Steam itself. Both options are valid, although if you're just starting it might be worth installing your entire Steam out of Program Files. The same applies for MO2 and any other tool, keep it anywhere except folders like Program Files, Desktop and so on. If you only hace C: I would make a "C:\Games\" folder and put everything Steam-MO2 related in there.

Hi again, so I thought I had followed all your instructions to the T but when I try to start the game although I initially got no errors, suddenly when starting it again i got an error saying SoS Dll is out of date. looking into it it says it may be caused by a mismatch in SKSE64 (my version and the one I dowloaded is 1.6.342), should I just try reinstalling that? will it cause problems elsewhere particularly as initially it did not give  me this error. Also in your guide to get the Sexylab framework to work if I don't get the all green I should go into third person and try again. which i did and waited like 10 minutes nothing happened. This leads me to believe i made a mistake somewhere. I have tried reinstalling the mods but that appears to have made no difference.

I should note all other mods appear to work fine the only ones I have issue with is SoS and sexylab.

The guide is for SE 1.5.97. If you want to use 1.6 you'll need to get all the mods for that SE version and the corresponding SKSE version too. There is a separate dll for SOS, same goes for Sexlab which has a 164 version for SE 1.6. I haven't looked into it, which is why it's not covered in the guide yet, so I don't know if the same install instructions apply.

If you want to downgrade to 1.5.97 and use the guide as it is, you have instructions at the start of the first post (orange paragraphs+spoiler).

Hello everyone ! My game died after updating mo2. I deleted everything, even from the registry. When installing mo2, I received the following error messages: the first line of the program contains unrecognizable characters. Or something like that. I tried older versions but didn't use them. Here are the error messages:

I'll add this to the list of things that have never happened to me. Not sure how or why this could happen. I found a single instance of issues reported like this, and it was a plugin not included in the default install (unlike your case where these plugins are part of the MO2 install). And I don't even know what your game died means in this context. It might be that a certain setting needed a tweak or somehow that installation lost the file path it had before... or something completely different.

I don't think the problem is in the files you had before/after the update (if that were the case there would be plenty of users experiencing the same issues). These messages are more in line with file access issues. So I would do a clean install of the latest version, make sure any antivirus software has exclusions for the game and any mod related program (even Windows Defender, specially WD since a few Windows updates ago the real time protection started causing problems on several programs related to MO2).

I launched the latest version of mo 2. I received two more error messages. The errors also appeared after turning off the anti-virus software. Of course, for safety's sake, I set mo 2 to the exceptions. The relevant lines in the error messages are: DDSPrewiew.py; line 1, FNISPatches.py; line 1, FNISTool.py; line 1, FNISReset.py; line 1, Form43Checker.py; line 1

hmm no clue, as I said this isn't something I've personally experienced and I can't find other reports of your issue. Try to contact them directly in the MO2 discord and ask if there is a known solution/how to avoid that problem. Good luck.

There are only admin entries on the mo 2 discord page. It doesn't seem to work. Here is a file (text) that might say something.mo_interface.log

Follow the instructions written in that same discord screenshot you attached to enter the server and ask in the proper channels. This is not the place to do so (as I've already said this isn't something I've seen or know how to solve and that's the reason for recommending the discord server). Good luck.

An amazing guide, really... Decided to read through the whole PDF before beginning any modding to the vanilla game to see what enhancing a game like Skyrim SE entails & was delighted by your structure and ability to convey what seems very complex to an outsider so simply throughout your explanation/tutorial. ?

I had only one question to ask regarding the body & physics; bhunp seems to be growing on me -
Can I follow your guide & instead select UUHP from Bodyslide and UNPB from CBPC? Will that then defualt npc bodies to unp instead of that of cbbe...
( this seems to be the part making me hesitate as I haven't found enough answers e.g. if they collide or whether their's a better selection in cbpc  )

You're welcome and thanks for the kind words.
About using other body types, yes you can replace any CBBE related mod with the proper UNP or BHUNP variant you want (BHUNP seems to be the equivalent to CBBE 3BA, but I haven't use it personally so I don't know the details). You will need to pick your main body mod (UNP, BHUNP or any other non-CBBE one you want) and check its requirements. Install everything as per each mod instruction and test how things behave ingame. For the BodySlide part you'll need to check which sets need to be built (I think this info is included in the description of the BHUNP mod). And that's it, you'll need to find armor or clothing mods with BHUNP support and avoid mixing mods for CBBE (like CBBE textures) with other body types.

is there a way to make sexlab work with nemesis instead of FNIS?

Yeah, install and use Nemesis instead of FNIS. It should work fine for most animations (I remember reading about one SLAL pack that had issues and it wasn't something I ever experienced personally). No creature animations though, you would need to use both FNIS and Nemesis for that to work (google it, there are quite a few threads about it but I lost track of which was the best method). I've been using Nemesis alone for 4-6 months already and haven't had any issues with humanoid animations.

Error message "2001" appears when starting FNIS. A txt file is missing, reinstall FNIS. Even if I reinstall, the problem still persists. What should I do?

All errors about missing or inaccesible files I've seen are related to Windows Defender or a similar AV software blocking access (this happened in a recent Windows Update).  You can try adding exclusions for MO2, FNIS and other similar tools in WD or disable it before running FNIS to see if this is the case.
