Apex Xenos

Updated for 2.8 of Stellaris

Welcome to the Apex Xenos Mod, if you don't like vore, that's cool but you probably aren't going to want this mod.

What is currently in the mod:

It adds 4 species traits. 3 civics, and an edict.

It also adds 3 new government types with their own personalities so you can populate the galaxy with other voraphiles.

And more, thanks to fellow modders on Aryion! Please head on over there if you want the current version and some species packs. Current installation instructions are also on the forums.

What is currently planned for the mod:

Anomalies - The galaxy is a hungry place

Events - A pool of events for the game to draw from that allow the player to increase a leader's vore skill, have a leader be eaten, or even usurp the current ruler

Prey and predator personalities - so AI should prioritize gobbling up prey rather than federating with them

Hunger CBs for predators

And whatever else I happen to dream up

This is my first mod for any game so it's bound to be a little rough around the edges, that said, feel free to throw out ideas for events, civics, and traits etc etc

Let me give you guys a sitrep for this mod's development,

-Just bought megacorp so I'll be actually learning the new systems for awhile, after that, I'll start working on the mod again
-Before news of Le Guin I was working on empire personalities, so different types of vore and prey empires would be aggressive, passive, etc etc but only 1 set would work and nowhere I looked had the answer. So, moving forward there will be just one aggressive personality and maybe I can get a submod system or something working to implement the others. (I already spent 6+ hours writing responses so I'm loathe to just drop them)

Things to be  added
-Either make "Rule through strength" and "Darwinism" more unique or consolidate them
-Fix Vore exp levels for leaders and add in the events that allow them to level up/eat other leaders
-Figure out how the new pop system works and incorporate that into the mod somehow

It's been a little while since I've played so if I get any ideas about what to add I'll detail them in next post. And if YOU get any ideas about what to add feel free to let me know

First of all, let me just say I am loving the work you've done with this mod. It's rather set me up in a happy place playing Stellaris |3

One thing I might suggest for a possible feature, regarding the new 2.2 population systems: When there is overpopulation on a planet and you have both Lethal Vore Predator and Prey species, perhaps it might be possible for that overpopulation to be solved snack by snack? Possibly if a Lethal Vore Predator was a governor it'd automatically happen with their blessing and/or a 'decision' possible to allow such happenings? Would be heck of an alert every so often when excess pops are being gulped one by one! XD

Loving your thoughts regarding leaders eating leaders, would it be an idea to have events to warn that such a thing is coming between two leader? A sort of "one is eyeing up the other" thing, with the option to ignore or discourage to delay it a while until another notice? Might give possibilities for different flavours of fluff regarding each potential leader loss reason (dinner date, rival prey co-worker, delicious infatuation, etc)

Can't wait to see what magic you do with the population system, the new changes sure make the populations of one's empires seem less... individual/personal and somethign to bring back that magic in a hungry way can't be bad!

did you do something with the trait chances for leaders too? i played two games as vore darwinists and only got one leader with a predator trait in 100 years of game time where before the update i was able to keep most of my leaders with the trait.

Leader traits were supposed to be completely removed for this update because they very strong, without any of the negatives that were supposed to associated with them. Conceptually, novice pred traits should be worse than your average leader trait, adept traits should be exactly balanced, and master traits should be better than the normal traits. As the current state of the system did not reflect this I opted to take it out. They'll be added back in when I can either 1)Add in the events where leaders can eat each other (Not sure this is possible) or 2) the bonuses provided by the traits are balanced and spawn accordingly.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the mod!

Now, I don't want to spoil too much (or get hopes too high) but you've definitely given me some good ideas on how I can have different pops interact. As for leaders, I was planning on giving the player two choices (maybe 3) that would determine if a leader was successful in devouring a rival, so once you've done it once you can choose to keep a good leader or upgrade the other leader's vore trait. If you've played ck2, the events would work like the assassination plots with a few different events that would be easy to expand and add to.

Hopes or not, I'm honestly just glad to be giving ideas considered good! ❤️ If anything it's hard to not throw ideas constantly (Such as much higher changes of snacking when food runs out, ethic based willing/unwilling snacking, too-delicious-to-resist-hunger based ideology wars, synthetic fatal/safekeeping vore, events for chances to save populations/leaders post-gulp, or a sector pred leader occasionally snacking on prey pops one by one and apologising for it/caught doing it or more! XD)

Ohh, now that's going to add a nice layer of intrigue to leaders for sure |3! Judging by what you've coded and written so far, sounds like it'll be a treat~

You act like most of us arent going to play an empire that openly lets the dominant race eat the lesser beings.

Any chance you'll have something for corporations? I'm was hoping to enslave and sell off some new foodstuffs.

Hmm... Seems like I need to add a policy controlling recreational vore then. Unrestricted will make egalitarian factions unhappy and authoritarian factions happy, while also giving bonuses related to... something, maybe food production or ruler/specialist happiness?

Assuming the dominant species of one's empire are the preds and not the prey~! ;3

Ohhh, interesting idea! Tradeoffs are always a fun thing, especially with policies! HEh, predator/prey pops happiness and/or crime might be an easy offset value too Iguess!

Well, happiness implying willing/unwilling predation. Id think (in the case of Utopian prey)) they accept they're places inside a predator species insides. Perhaps give the option for pred civs to call 'dibs' on your species in a sense which is sorta like a defensive pact?

Sort of like a Claimed Prey offer that gives defence pact protection and some sort of Rightful Predator Casus belli?

You're absolutely right about the willing/unwilling implication though, good catch. Would suggest maybe an actual willing/unwilling prey trait but I worry that'd complicate things, especially if you have willing for soft and not fatal, and visa versa.
