[mod] The House of O - A Society for BDSM

Recommended Posts

can u make more game rules like only women are slaves and servants and men are masters and another one for women being masters and men being slaves and servants and a option to skip the bottom 2 ranks since it kind of seems odd to me that my character has a haram of slave girls but then joins the society as a slave

Hello everyone, as I mentioned before I’ll write some development diaries detailing the features of the next update. Hopefully these will ease the wait for v0.9 for all of you dominants waiting for the means to handle your slaves appropriately. So without further ado, here is the topic of this DevDiary:

Missions for Dominants

While Servants are called on mostly for the pleasure of higher ranked members, a Domina or Dominus enjoys much more freedom. They still get Missions, but those come directly from the Master/Mistress and can be seen more as opportunities to further the influence and prosperity of the House of O, as well as getting in good favor. Dominants may still be asked to recruit new Members, but otherwise they have access to a completely different set of Missions.

Train a Slave

This Mission comes in two flavors. You’re either asked to train a specific slave, or the decision is left entirely to you. In both cases it’s up to you, how you actually train them. You are free to choose from the different traits that are expected of a slave, and that you might remember from your training when you joined the House. The slave actually gets the very same events that teach these traits, and will behave according to their personality. A stubborn slave is hard to train, and so it might be best to get them to loosen up first.

If you don’t succeed on your first try, don’t worry, you can try again. The mission never fails. You can give the slave a lesson as often as you want, and also try different approaches, it just takes some time. The mission is considered complete, when you get your trainee to adopt a desired trait.

Furnish Your Playroom

dd01_03.jpg.704e297b7dae8dc423af8d80a0778948.jpg

Every dominant should have their own private playroom. There are things you just can’t to in the royal chambers, and it would be a hassle to always travel to the House. So one of the first things, the Master/Mistress will ask of you when you become a dominant, is to furnish yourself a room for that purpose. It’s called ‘playroom’, but nothing keeps you from building your own mansion of O.

During a short event chain, similar to the hermetics lab, you choose the size and decor of your new playroom, and also get the opportunity to buy toys and bondage furniture in exchange for favor. While these items have no actual use in the current version, they will be tied into a major feature of the Dominant update. More on that in a future DevDiary.

Procure a Special Slave

Every now and then the master acquires rumors about a special person, and send their dominants to bring them in. you will first need to gather more information about that potential slave, for which high stats are generally helpful. If you successfully track them down, you get the opportunity to buy them from their current holder, or try to acquire them in a different way. Of course you can always decide, that they’re not worth the trouble, but that means failing the mission. If you succeed in bringing them with you, you get the choice of keeping them as your courtier, after their training is complete.

There are many different types of special slaves ranging from a savage caught in the wilds to a trained and perfectly obedient servant. Each of them have their own flavor and appropriate traits, and depending o the situation you find them in, their price and alternative means of procurement vary wildly.

I hope you enjoyed this first look into the dominant side of the House of O. The next DevDiary will focus on the Powers that come with a dominant position. I’m aiming to have it ready in about a month.

Until then, I’m always open to feedback and suggestions.

Alright I have some feedback immediately. The last event you've shown there says "They draw their weapons as they notice us approaching, but they're in no shape to mount a serious resistance." but then the option to fight them has a 40% chance of getting wounded, and only a 20% chance of succeeding. That doesn't seem like no shape to mount a serious resistance.

I'm assuming that the chances would be different based on the stats and/or traits of the character.

Even so, 20% seems grossly low to claim your priceprize for an event that clearly states they are in no shape to mount any serious resistance.

Yes, thank you. I will rephrase that.

So I submitted to my husband. After 2-3 years (not months, years) not a single event was fired.

Am I missing something, or are there simply no events that can fire? My husband is not a member of the society.

Events fire on a yearly basis, but there is no guarantee, that you get an event every year. Just play the game as you normally would, and sooner or later something will happen. However, since the mod is still in alpha, there are features that are yet to be implemented.

can you rank up but stay a sub?

If you are a sub, you cannot rank up, and if you submit to anyone while at rank 3, you will be demoted. If you want to play a sub, you don't need to rank up though. All sub content is available at rank 2.

Been meaning to ask, is the submissive trait fully implemented in the current version? It says there's 10% of it appearing whenever you pick the most submissive option during a training event, but I've never seen it despite spending years at rank 1 and getting all the other traits.

Actually noticed that after posting the question. So I'd be correct in guessing that you'll become the submissive of whichever character was 'handling' you at the time? That's pretty neat since that makes taking the more submissive option riskier if you want to progress beyond rank 2.

Not at the Moment, but I like the idea of slipping into a relationship you hadn't planned on.

To clarify: You can be submissive, without a dominant lover, and you stay in a sub-dom-relationship, even if you somehow lose submissive, or they lose dominant. The actual relationship is handled by an opinion modifier, and isn't that easy to get out of.

Not tested, but it should.

Hello everyone, It has been a while longer than I intended, but here I am with the second DevDiary for version 0.9 "Dominant". This time I'll be talking about:

Powers of Domination

As you surely already guessed, one of the powers dominants can use is the counterpart to the "Offer Submission"-power. While it may seem weird, you can still offer submission as a Domina/Dominus, if you want to. I don't want to take away this option. It will however have consequences. More on that later. The other new power will be to commission items, so you wont have to craft them yourself. Which again doesn't mean you can't still build your own restraints and whips.

Dominate

Dominating others is the namesake of your new title. Different from offering submission, which can be used on practically everyone, domination has slightly stricter prerequisites. Leading the first date with "I want you to be my slave," might be a little too direct, even in more open minded times. So, to qualify as a target for domination, a character needs to either openly show their willingness (be a slave or servant of the House) or have a preexisting bond with you (be your husband/wife, lover or consort).

Depending on whether the prospective slave is a member of the House, or not, the methods of domination are different, but the process itself is largely the same: Probe carefully if they are ready, slowly nudge them in the right direction, and finally but a collar on them.

dd02_01.jpg.bbb911da80740190dd76b7c0d10a599f.jpg

As with offering submission, the master-slave-relationship is established on successful domination, and you now get to choose a nickname for your new slave. If you manage to seduce and dominate another dominant, they will be stripped of their rank and reduced to servant. This also happens should a dominant offer submission to another. With this method it is possible to directly supplant the Master/Mistress. Of course, NPCs are capable of this as well, so be careful not to relinquish your dominance, lest you might end up in a place from which there is no coming back.

Commission Devices or Furniture

The other new power allows you to order devices from the servants or specialized craftsmen, and only ever costs society favor. The material cost is entirely borne by the servant, or the House itself, which is why employing a specialist costs additional favor. They have however a higher chance of producing quality Items.

dd02_02.jpg.2530dde5a9791dae849c97f6584b91c4.jpg

A randomly chosen servant may get a mission to craft said item, and will present it personally. If you don't like what they created or just feel a little sadistic, you can have them punished. You can also donate the item to the house for a partial refund of the favor cost, if you don't want to keep it. That mission and all relating consequences are of course also available when playing as a servant.

dd02_03.jpg.e9db39203736372b02e30593166160b9.jpg

A separate decision allows for ordering bondage furniture, which can only be crafted by a specialist and costs a lot of favor. However, aside from inheriting it via the standard game mechanics, this is the only possible way to acquire said furniture.

Until now, toys had no actual use in the game, and furniture couldn't even be acquired in legitimate ways. The use of these items brings me to the topic of the next DevDiary: Sessions. I'm aiming to have that one out before the end of December.

Until then, have fun and enjoy the Advent season.

this mod works with holy fury

Thanks for testing that out. I have also found no incompatibilities with holy fury so far.

Will you be looking for beta testers eventually?

The versions released can be considered open alpha (and later beta), and I welcome any feedback regarding bugs or errors. The size of the project doesn't warrant a dedicated team of testers i think and I'd rather release sooner, albeit with a few bugs like was the case with the initial v0.8.

Found an error in one of the event localizations - specifically, BDSM.2011 where a society member (Count Rodericho) asks my (non-society) character (Duchess Charlotte) to be their dominant via offer of a whip. The variables are correctly applied, but the event reads as if my character was asking to become the slave.

Specifically, I think it's because the event goes from the decision to BDSM.2000 (would-be slave)) to BDSM.2010 (requested dominant) and then again to the requested dominant again for 2011, but the localization on 2011 uses "From", which in this case is still the would-be Dom, rather than FromFrom which is the would-be slave. So I'd suggest either changing the localization, or maybe just creating a pingback shell event to correct it so that "from" for 2011 is the slave again.

The event that gives slaves the homosexual trait (when game rules are set to have a mono-gendered secret society) doesn't seem to fire very aggressively. In my current game about 11 in 12 recruits rank up out of slavery without becoming homosexual. Would be nice it it were weighted more.

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas. It's still December, and as promised here is the third Development Diary for version 0.9 "Dominant". The feature I want to present to you today is another major source of new content.

BDSM Sessions

Up until now there is not a lot of content for master-slave-pairs. I added a few flavor events, but the meat of the game lies withing the society and the missions and events concerning it. Sessions are not tied to the society. Any dominant character can hold one with their submissive lover, even if neither of them is a member. The House offers synergies with sessions, and of course doesn't hinder them in any way, so it's still advisable to be a member, especially for dominants, though it's not strictly necessary.

The General Course of a Session

Sessions are about spending time with your slave or master respectively. They can be initiated by the dominant part in a relationship, and consist of a series of events describing the whole session. The dominant part is able to choose among several methods of interaction with their slave, who in turn can choose to be compliant or defiant.

dd03_01.jpg.7201450774377e81546fd00b6eec180e.jpg

The options available to the master are randomly chosen from a wide range of possibilities and depend on the current situation. For example, if a bondage option is chosen, more will be offered, to progressively tie up the slave. There will always be different options available too, if you want to go in another direction.

I decided on this method of offering four semi-random options instead of events with multiple pages for two reasons: First, it's easier this way to add new options later on. More importantly however, flipping through pages of options breaks the flow of the event chain and feels more like browsing a catalog than having fun with your lover.

Arousal

dd03_02.jpg.d8a740d5b62b48d8ab80c26dc817f07a.jpg

Over the course of the session, the slaves arousal slowly rises until they reach an orgasm. If the master allows it, that is. A bad slave can always disregard their masters orders, but such disobedience will surely be met with punishment.

Arousal also influences the options available to naturally increase the heat.

The Dom's arousal doesn't influence the session much. For one, because they are in perfect control of themselves, and only cum if they want to. Also, they're able to cum whenever they want, unlike the slave, who needs permission to do so.

Flavor and Gameplay

dd03_03.jpg.7d51d9f72dbc4960411b057f23b28b67.jpg

The prime purpose of sessions is to spice up the relationship with more events. They mostly just flavor, but I feel that a purely flavor event with no impact on gameplay is rather pointless. It's still mostly a BDSM-short story, but at the end of every session, the master as well as the slave receive a reward that can range from relieving stress, over temporary modifiers to gaining traits. Most, but not all of these rewards are generally positive.

Some possible examples for the slave include:

Removing Stressed – more likely if they were mostly compliant

Adding Sturdy – more likely if they were mostly defiant

Adding Envious or Ambitious – if they are Dominant

Adding Stressed – if they were bound very strictly

That's it for this last DevDiary on the "Domiant" update. I am looking to release it after some testing and bugfixing on February 1st 2019. For now I wish you a happy new year.
