I had been hanging out in Diamond City for a week. I had sold all my loot at the market and no, I didn't flirt with the girl in the white shirt this time. I was in need of an adventure. I was staying at the Dugout Inn looking for a new bounty or something alike. As I left, the bartender told me that someone had just put a notice on the wall next to the exit. Looks like this was going to be my day! The note read: "Looking for a professional. Come see me at my store northwest of Chestnut Hillock Reservoir. Follow the road, can't miss." I went to the basin. It was relatively close to Diamond City but I chose to take my time to avoid problems. I hesitated on the direction to follow. The store was supposed to be after the Diner, it was the only road that led to the West. The note was right. There was a small store with a salesgirl, probably the author of the notice. I took the time to observe the surroundings, I had never been in this area before and the forest was beautiful here. I went to the counter to introduce myself. She knew who I was and picked up the discussion: "Oh yes, you're Calista right? I heard your name around Bunker Hill, you saved a girl. You're going to be perfect for this job. A gang of raiders is coming to collect their tax in a few hours. I'd like to get rid of them. 300 caps and you can take everything they had." "Sounds good to me. You want me to ambush them? I could hide in your storeroom if you'll let me in." "Very good idea! It will be an easy target for you!" I walked into the room. It was small and narrow with crops growing. I was looking for where I could observe the exchange between the vendor and the raiders. She spoke up: "Sorry dear, but you are the target." She slammed the door and closed it. I tried to force it open, but it didn't work. The gas that was used to feed the plants was released at full blast. I began to stagger, the smell was unbearable. I was slowly losing control. I couldn't do anything. After a minute I fainted. If I was the target, I fell into her trap like a beginner. When I opened my eyes, I saw the saleswoman above me. She had tied my hands and feet and gagged my mouth. I felt so helpless. "Looks who's awake. Sorry girl, but it's just business. I took your purse, your gun, your ring, your glasses and your boots. I apologize for the latter, but I had to take them off you to tie you up like that. It's brave to wear them without socks. Either way, my handler will be here in a few hours. That's why you're gagged, I don't want you to scare my customers. In the meantime, stay still." I tried to move a little to untie myself but there was nothing I could do. A few hours later, the saleswoman opened the door again. "Looks like I'm going to be rid of you. Too bad, I was starting to enjoy your presence. She's here Sergeant." "So this is the notorious Calista? To be tricked by a simple saleswoman, what a joke! Listen carefully, my commander wants to see you. I'm going to remove these ropes and then I'm going to handcuff you. We have a little way to go and I want to get home before it gets dark. Don't try anything and I won't shoot you, okay?" "Let's get moving. You better not slow down or I'll make you pay." Like a feeling of deja vu. No shoes, handcuffed and forced to obey someone stronger than me. The saleswoman allowed herself one last sentence for me: "Have a good trip! My advice for the day is, make good choices." "Keep the pace prisoner, toward the tunnel." I was dealing with a Gunner. I had heard they were the best mercenaries in the Commonwealth, in equipment and numbers. The way she spoke, her clothes and her rank, all led me to that conclusion. I kept moving forward, trying to clear my head. I started to drag in the tunnel, my feet were not used to walk on concrete anymore. The sergeant kicked me to force me to speed up. "What the hell are you doing? I don't care if you're barefoot, hurry up!" I lost my balance and almost fell. We crossed a bridge. Beyond it stood the elevated highway. "See what's behind the trees? Yep, that's where we're going. We'll go through the little town and then take an elevator to the top. Stay good and keep moving." As we passed through the small town, the gunner stopped me and pushed me towards a ruined pub. "Inside, I want to make sure there's no trouble ahead." This little stop allowed me to catch my breath. The sergeant was looking at the landscape before she turned to me. "You look pissed off girl. Is it because you got screwed or because you got robbed? Look at you, she even took your shoes. Are your feet not too sore?" "Mmmhuck fffou!" "A little touchy, huh? Come one, we can go the freeway." We passed under the highway. She kicked me again. My balance took a hit but I held on. It was so humiliating, I had to comply. "Move over there, we have a lift to catch." Once on the lift, she forced me to sit down. I tried to think of how to get out of this situation but I couldn't think of any solution. The gunner kept her eyes on me. "Listen carefully, Calista. Once you're in the camp, you better tell us what we want to know. We are known for not taking prisoners. If you're no good to us, you'll be executed. Got it?" I nodded. I had to be smart about this one. "Come on we're almost there move your ass!" She grabbed me so I could step over the highway ramp faster. I felt the cold metal under my feet, it wasn't a pleasant sensation. We found ourselves in front of the gates. She ordered me to kneel down until they opened. It was impossible for me to escape, the turret would take care of it if I tried anything. "Private, this is the Sergeant. I'm coming in with the prisoner. Is the commander present?" "Yes ma'am, she's in her cabin." The highway was used as a Gunner's lair. They were many and especially well equipped with reinforced armor, laser weapons and missile launchers. I looked like a novice compared to them. Maybe that explains why I was their target. A beginner who tried to compete with them and ended up handcuffed and brought barefoot to their leader. The sergeant threw me at the commander's feet. She was delighted to see me. "Good job Sarge. Welcome Calista, we've heard about you and your recent work. We had been targeting this building for weeks and it took a girl with enough balls to come in and steal our loot. That's why you're still alive. We'll start the questioning tomorrow. Sergeant, take her to the storage room and tear off her top, she's not worthy of our colors."

Back to Goodneighbor. These events are directly related to the History chapter, from a different perspective: the character who was captured and brought here. I am Isabel. I used to be known as the Queen, and I ruled my little world with an iron fist. All that came to an end when I was betrayed and tortured by my former slave, who took revenge on me. I underestimated her then she turned me in to Goodneighbor's rulers, whom I'd tried to con by allying myself with the Triggermen, their local enemies. I was still chained and gagged in their prison cell when the woman who had escorted me in, Fahrenheit and her boss Hancock showed up for a quick chat: "At last we got you Isabel. You've made quite the mess these last few weeks around Goodneighbor and you're going to pay for it. My associate here will handle your interrogation. I want names and locations on the Triggermen. The faster you tell us, the less you'll have to suffer. Your choice starting tomorrow." I wasn't going to talk. Fuck them. Torture sessions began. For several days I was beaten all over my body. "Where are they hiding? Say it!" I remained silent, I had no intention of giving that bitch anything. Punching method failed. The cunt switched to the whip. My whole back and buttocks were lacerated by her repeated lashings day after day. "Tell me where the Triggerman's place is!" My skin burned red hot from the pain but I persisted in keeping my mouth shut. The whip also failed. The bitch used my slave's method to make me talk: tickling. "Calista was right, you are ticklish! I'll let you rot in this bathtub until I get the information I want." My pain turned into one vast, untreatable ache. I couldn't laugh no more. Since tickling also failed, bitchy Fahrenheit took out her frustration by fucking me dirty. She took great pleasure in it, as I would have done if I were in her place. We left Boston over a bridge and didn't meet a single soul. "Hurry up Isabel, I want to get home before nightfall." In another life, I was the one escorting people over long distances. A bygone time... When I slowed down, the bitch at my back kicked me to speed up again. "Quit dragging your feet, we're not there yet!" Around noon, we arrived. The place was a correctional facility for turning bandits into slaves. I had heard of it, but I didn't give a damn about these guys. Former raiders from Lexington and Gunners defectors teaming up to run a prison, big joke. But now I had become their victim. I was introduced to the prison warden, a gray-haired old guy reformed from the Gunners' military life. Fahrenheit made me get down on my knees, the bitch.... "Dear sir, I bring you Isabel, former slave queen. From Hancock, with his respects." "How ironic to have a slaver turn into a slave. Please thank Hancock for me. She will be in our custody for a while before we send her to Paradise Falls if we receive a lucrative offer." I was offered the same deluxe treatment as all new prisoners: a jumpsuit, a high-tech shock collar and a fresh haircut. I didn't recognize myself at all, I never thought I could fall to such lowly status, to the same league as the people I used to enslave. "Look how beautiful you are, my dear! Time to go to the cells now." The prison was a small, narrow building. The guards' offices led to the dining area, which itself led to the holding cells. There were no windows, and security doors at every threshold. On top of that, a bitchy guard who thought she could do anything. Luckily for her, I was handcuffed. "Keep going straight ahead, don't try anything or I'll make you regret it." The guard forced me into the empty holding cell. I wasn't the only prisoner here; in the next cell stood a young blonde girl, who viewed the scene with surprise. I felt so angry, clenching my teeth to contain my rage against that guard cunt. After pushing me down, removing the handcuffs and locking me in, the guard left. The woman prisoner reassured me: "Oh shit, they didn't miss you... Sorry about this mate, welcome to prison." "Don't worry about me, Blondie." "My name is Cheryl, what's yours?" "Isabel. I don't feel like talking right now, I'm going to lay down on the bed." Those were the first words out of my mouth in weeks. A bed and makeshift toilet, the great Commonwealth luxury. I needed some rest, but that didn't stop Cheryl from speaking her thoughts out loud. "I never thought my little thefts and robberies would bring me here, to this jail. I've been here for 3 months now and I'm dreading the day when I'll become a slave... I'm trying to get used to the idea, but it's hard... Anyway, I'll shut up. If you want to talk, I'm always here." The days passed and looked the same. I spent most of my time in my cell, except for meal times, held at the canteen next door. The bruises went away, but not the deep lashes on my back. I hadn't set foot outside since my arrival at the prison until that day: "Hey new girl! Congratulations, you'll be tending our crops today. You'll be partnered with Trixie, she's been in solitary confinement since her escape attempt. Don't even dare because you'll be punished more severely, you've been warned." It was nice to see the sun again and feel the fresh wind on my skin. Even if I had to do a dirty job, digging the earth with my bare hands to tend the crops, at least I wasn't alone in my misfortune. "Oh shit, you're Queen Isabel, aren't you? I barely recognized you, you're famous all over the Commonwealth!" "In another life I was, yes. So you're Trixie and you tried to escape, didn't you?" "Hush, we'll talk about it later, the guard's watching us a little too closely." At the end of the day, the guard handcuffed Trixie and took her back to the cells. Unlike me, I was tied to a post next to the warden's break room. "Good job today, new girl, but you think I didn't see you chatting? You're going to stay here for tonight, that should help you keep your mouth shut, am I right Trixie?" She lowered her head to apologize to me. I was pissed of, that guy deserved a good whack to the head. Several weeks went by, I felt more comfortable talking to Cheryl. "I used to run my raider crew down south, then I moved into slavery - it paid better and I got to work on my own. Everyone called me Queen. Then I got greedy and things went wrong." "Damn, you're one fierce badass... I stole from a couple settlements before getting busted by the Covenant people. Those bastards had recording devices in every one of their houses..." "I've heard of 'em. You're lucky they didn't keep you, I hear some folks get kidnapped in their sleep. And they've been missing ever since." Meals served in the canteen were held in absolute silence. I had no chance for lunch today: a soup with pieces of burnt fish... Cheryl and Trixie hadn't, but they were tired of eating the same thing for months. All of this under the close surveillance of a security guard watching over us. The only time we had a shred of freedom outside was in the enclosed courtyard. Only 30 minutes a day if we behaved ourselves. It also meant I could chat with Trixie, to find out more about her escape attempt. "I'm telling you guys, it's not possible to get out of the prison with their fences and turrets. We need outside help if we want to have any chance." "And what about our collars, do you have any clue how they are powered?" "Not from the prison for sure, but it must be somewhere with electricity nearby." "Girls, quiet down! The warden's coming." "Prisoners, get naked. It's time for the photo shoot." Restrained in devices, we were displayed in plain sight for the highest bidder. I never imagined being the one to suffer this kind of humiliation in my life, and it irritated me beyond belief. We were then escorted back to our cells, fully naked and handcuffed. "Come on ladies, move it! We'll give you back the jumpsuits tomorrow after laundering. What are you looking at, Isabel? Hurry up!" I didn't have her name, but I sure knew at some point, I would beat the crap out of her. I forgot how long I had been locked up here. Days, weeks, months... The time felt like an endless loop. I hadn't prepared myself for the slave life because I was sure that it would never come true. Rather die free than be submissive. "Hey Isabel, stop your push-ups. You have someone who paid a lot to sit down with you. You know the drill, hands behind your back." I didn't expect it, but it happened. My former slave, the one responsible for my imprisonment, was paying me a visit: "Isabel, it's been a long time! Looking sharp, always a pleasure to behold. So, how has your life been over these past few months?" "Calista, what the hell are you doing here? You've come to taunt me, right? Mark my words, once free, I'll put you six feet under." "Good, you feel the same way I did when I was enslaved. Now sit your ass down, we gotta talk." "After our last encounter, I settled down. I wrote down my entire Commonwealth experience, from my enslavement by your lost ex-slave comrades in Lexington a couple of years ago to my regained freedom after your capture. Then I sent the manuscript to a journalist in Diamond City, who promised to publish some sections." "I don't give a fuck. You want a medal or something?" "Oh, just when I thought my former mistress could see the big picture... You've lost quite your touch, my dear. Remember Nuka Ride, your plan to make us famous with the porn industry? My story will bring us that notoriety you wanted so badly." "So after dumping me, you went out on your own to take all the glory? I should have done the same right after meeting the Overboss." "But you didn't, because there's unfinished business between us." Calista was good with words, that's how she survived as my slave, she knew exactly what to say to keep me satisfied. Seeing her from the other side, she would have made an amazing raider leader. Like me, long ago. "Okay. Warden, I'm extending my session with Isabel by an hour and I'll need to use your barracks this time. You'll get an extra bonus and an autograph from the retired actress Starlight." "I'll take it. A while after meeting Piper, I was abducted in my sleep and taken to an unknown place. Completely naked, with a collar around my neck, my hands and feet bound, I had no choice but to comply. This place was unlike any in the Commonwealth: very sophisticated and uncluttered, even my captor seemed to come from another world. Had I been captured by what the locals dreaded most of all, the Institute? I was led to a couple of scientists expecting my arrival. "Greetings Calista. Welcome to our laboratory! I'm Dr Ayo and this is my colleague, Dr Secord. We've learned from multiple reports that you're a very unique individual, and we look forward to testing our latest experiment on you." "What are you talking about? I'm not your guinea pig. Release me, you lunatics!" "Doctor Secord, take her to the device." "With pleasure, Doctor Ayo. It's rare to have such perfectly balanced subjects!" A sick, perverted hag staring at my body... A sense of déjà vu. Doctor Secord and her armed guard brought me into a spacious room with glass tubes and a huge machine at the far end. The old scientist made a brief summary of their inventions: "Over the years, we've created synthetic life and teleportation, our two greatest achievements. Today, we're getting close to our next breakthrough, one that will revolutionize the world. Step onto the platform Calista, please." "You won't get away with this! People will notice my absence and will come looking for me!" "They'll certainly try, but they'll fail miserably. Now let me tell you what's going to happen: When the device boots up, you'll feel a little pain from the radioactive rays, but don't worry, it'll only last about a dozen seconds. You might also experience your hand cuffs coming off to magnetize to the unit, but rest assured, your feet won't move off the ground. Any questions?" "You're totally insane, you know that, don't you?" "I'll take that as a no. Doctor Ayo, you may begin the procedure." The device started up with a blast as loud as an aircraft engine. The radioactive rays emitted a red and green aura that burned my skin. Just as the scientist had predicted, my hand bonds tried to stick to the machine's turbines. I cried out in pain, hoping it would all blow over. After about ten seconds, it did, and I fainted. "Doctor Ayo, the experiment worked perfectly! The subject fainted but suffered no damage, and its bonds are still fully operational." "We have to be careful, Dr. Secord, as we're still limited by the beam's range. Take her to Advanced Systems, the project leader will take care of the rest." "She won't get far in her current state, but I understand your concerns. I'll bring her right over." After a few minutes, I regained consciousness but something seemed to be wrong. Lying down on an operation table, my head was spinning and my whole body felt numb. I looked incredibly weak, as if the world around me had tripled in size. What was their experiment and what on earth did the Institute want from me? It wasn't an impression, it was a reality: a scientist sitting across the room five times my size shouted at me as I knelt forward. "Awake at last! Welcome Calista, I'm Doctor Madison Li, I'll be taking over from here." "What have you monsters done to me? Let me go!" "As you may have noticed, you've shrunk. In fact, you're about a doll's size now. Congratulations, you're our first scaled-down human subject! Until you leave our headquarters, you'll remain at this height." "You're horrible! Why do you want to shrink humans? What the hell have we ever done to deserve this?" "Shrinking some species was a necessity: Super Mutants or Deathclaws to name but a few. For humans? We needed an alternative solution to replace them with our synthetics. Instead of killing them, we shrink them. They make ideal guinea pigs and can be recycled. Speaking of which, we've got some work together." Doctor Li stood up and came closer. I felt a vibration with every step she made, the further she advanced, the more imposing she became. The elder scientist stretched out her arm to take my tiny body: "What are you going to do? Get away from me!" "Do you really think you can do anything to stop me, Calista? Be a good doll and everything will go well." She had a valid point, I was still weak from the machine and at my size... There's no way I could stand up to a giantess. The scientist held me up to her height, face to face, to explain what was planned next: "You're a very charming little one, it's a pity you're our main subject..." "Why don't you give me back my size, take me home and I'll forget all about it? I swear I won't tell a soul!" "Nice try, but it ain't happening. We'll go to my office, I need a... small sample of your blood to complete our experimental results. You're going to behave, aren't you?" "Go to hell, you crazy hag!" "Quite the rebellious temper, I'll remedy that issue." Doctor Li took me into her office. It was a large research space with plenty of switchboards to monitor her team's progress; she was the leader of her division, after all. "This is my study, Calista. I spend most of my time here. So you'll be safe and very close to me. Anyway, time for us both to head for the workbench." I remained silent, recovering what little energy my tiny body could now contain. Just above the work surface, the scientist drop me. I fell a good half-meter, which on my scale seemed far more frightening. I screamed, thinking that my miniature life might come to an end. All I could see was Doctor Li's cold, heartless stare. She knew exactly what to do and how to do it: I was nothing more than a unique experimental dummy in her mind. My fall was slowed by my restraints on hands and feet: they were attracted by the work surface. Completely helpless, my little limbs in a spread eagle position with Dr. Li examining me. I was angry at her for making me suffer that fall without warning me first: "You're nuts, lady! Are you having fun treating me like a doll? You could have killed me, you evil old bitch!" "Everything was under control, this work plan was designed to handle your bindings. However, your rebellious side is getting tiresome. I think it's time you had a humbling experience before sampling." Unable to move, I could only watch. The scientist used her index finger to tickle my foot. Even at this size, my soles were still highly sensitive. I giggled as I tried to contain myself, but Dr. Li knew what to do and, above all, where to do it. "You see Calista, we've learned a lot about you from your own story published by that Diamond City journalist. They're great adventures, revealing your strengths and especially your weaknesses. I guess after a little tickle session, you'll be less defiant, won't you?" "Ahahah, stop it you freak! I won't give up!" "Good, I love challenges." "Looks like your whole doll body is ticklish! You may faint for a few minutes, but that's normal, as your blood capacity is much lower. Rest assured, I'll ensure that nothing goes wrong for you, Calista." I didn't know what to say, but I had to take the elder scientist's word for it. The doctor turned me over. From the spread eagle position to all fours, my foot restraints firmly locked to the work surface, the scientist had a clear view of my buttocks. She picked up a syringe to draw a blood sample out of my tiny body. I let out a pained cry, leaving my bottom not unscathed by the needle. It was so humiliating to be treated like a lab rat, but I had no other option within my limited reach. "It's done. You see, nothing went wrong. I'm going to analyze these results while you quietly rest on the worktop. Even though I've only taken a tiny sample, your body has still some adjustment to make to the shrinking process. I'll be close by, so don't try anything. Your physical condition won't tolerate it." I collapsed for a few moments. I was so weak, so exhausted, all I wanted was to get out of that hell. "Oh, poor tiny thing... Don't worry darling, it will all be over soon. Come on, l'll take you into the next room, my bedroom. There's something you need to see." When the door opened, I couldn't believe it. Another me, in a vault suit stood in front. I started sobbing, I quickly figured out what happened next: "No, this isn't real, I refuse it! You made me, you monster!" "Calista, meet Calista, our next-generation synth. Thanks to your blood sample, this Calista is as human as you are. If only you weren't doll-sized... Anyway, I won't be needing your assistance any longer. A proper good sleep might be helpful for you... We've still got plenty to check in your brand new miniature world!" Doctor Li put me on the bed with a gentle touch. My double followed her, and they both stared down at my body. This atmosphere gave me a strong feeling of anxiety, with two giant people scrutinizing my slightest movements, there was nothing I could do in my condition. "I'm really sorry for you Calista, but in the future, Science will be grateful for all your hard efforts." "Don't pretend you care, you've already created me as a synth! I'm just your guinea pig, admit it!" "You're right. I tried to comfort you, but you're obviously just too smart. I've got some preparations to make for Calista's synthetic appearance in the Commonwealth, so I'll leave you alone here. Don't bother, the door will be locked and there's no way out of this room." "Go to hell you evil witch, I don't believe you!" The scientist and her creation left the room. I felt abandoned, my isolation created a panic in which I cowered, trying to realize my situation: the Institute had kidnapped me, shrunk me and replaced me with a duplicate version of myself. It was too much for my tiny frame, and I started to scream, hoping the nightmare would stop. Meanwhile, the synthetic Calista peered at me through the glass, and for the first time I saw her express an emotion: she was smiling at my misfortune. My scream broke through the chaos I had just witnessed. I woke up in my bed in Goodneighbor, a brutal but crucial reality check. My abduction by the Institute, the shrinking, doctor Madison Li, my double, all these elements had been fabricated by my mind in my sleep. The whole thing combined to create a nightmare in horror, where I was left abandoned and replaced... Could this be my greatest fear? I quieted down and sat on the bed, my legs tucked up to my body. "Damn it, calm yourself Calista! This was just an insane nightmare... Don't think about it anymore, and never mention the Institute again when you're tipsy..." Chapter 3 of Volume 2 of my webcomic series, "Filthy Commonwealth Files" (NSFW/Hardcore) After narrowly escaping a sinister Vegas cult, Sa'lem sets out into the unforgiving Mojave desert. As a radstorm approaches she seeks shelter for the night, only to find that it isn't as abandoned as she might have liked...

I was choked till I blacked out. My weapons and some of my equipment were taken away leaving me with only my tank top and leggings. My necklace was replaced with an iron collar and my bare feet exposed. I was chained with shackles to the freight elevator, unable to move my arms. As the heavy footsteps of the person in the power armor got closer, I began to regain my bearings. From where I was restrained, the power armor had an even more daunting presence. It wasn't the Corvega raider's armor made from salvaged scrap metal, this one had been through War, the real thing. I could have had my nack broken but I was spared, I had to know why. "Who are you? What do you want from me?" "I gotta hand it to you, it was quite a fight. But you're not the girl I was supposed to bring back. Young, skinny, long hair, not my bounty. I guess the auction will be quite content with you..." "What? You're going to put me up for sale? Fuck you slavering bastard!" "I wouldn't expect anything less as a reaction. I'm sorry for just doing what I'm paid to do." "I hope you die on the road asshole." "Speaking of which, we're about to leave. Before we do, I'll make sure I don't hear any more cursing out of your mouth." A rusty iron gag was shoved into my mouth. It was so humiliating and disgusting just like my body looked after a night spent in a train depot. The night closed, revealing the dawn. The slaver escorted me, his head flashlight lightening my progress on the tracks. There was no point in running, I would be caught in an instant. I had to accept the situation... Thus began my journey into Boston to be sold... How I got there... I had taken Fahrenheit's place, she was the bounty. I hoped she would be okay and not shackled to the wall anymore. Kind of ironic that I ended up what I put her in... I had to think of something else, how to escape. Even though I was shackled and barefoot, the collar wasn't going to kill me if I ran away. I would only have one shot, I couldn't miss. We passed in an alley. I was forced to obey the route chosen by the power armor because I didn't know the location of the auction. We were close to Diamond City, I had seen the green painted brick walls just before we crossed the street. I figured it wasn't going to happen there, even though the green jewel didn't mind using slaves from time to time, much less often since the security chief was replaced. We went around the stadium. I could still see its structure from the road. We stopped in front of a police station, my feet stepped into a puddle of rain water. I paid almost no attention to it, I had to listen to the slaver watching the horizon. "Mmh. Trouble ahead. The intersection is blocked and there are wild ghouls wandering around. New plan, we'll go through this building and use the back stairs." The half-destroyed building had no ghouls inside. It wasn't easy for a barefoot woman tied up to walk through the rubble to avoid injuring herself. The difficulty increased when I had to go down one floor due to a portion of the staircase being buried in the debris. I preferred to sit down to help me land. I didn't want to damage my bare feet before I escaped. "You're right, it will be silly to get hurt now. Take it nice and easy." The slaver was messing with me, the shithead. We continued towards the river. Until we passed the church, a noise coming from the power armor halted our progress. The slaver stood ahead of me so that I would stop walking. I knew what the noise sounded like. I never wore power armor, but I understood that this one was currently low on energy. My window to escape was getting closer. "We need to take a short break. Head to the alley, I spotted a workshop there, I need it to maintain my armor." I was pushed and forced to sit on the concrete floor. The iron gag prevented me from complaining. All I could do was stare at the power armor, waiting for the perfect opening. "Be quiet girl. We're almost there. It'll only take a minute. Don't even try, you won't get far anyway in your bare feet." I didn't have to go far, just reach Diamond City which was two blocks away. I have traveled worse distances while barefoot. When the fusion core was removed from the power armor, it became completely disabled. I quickly got up and ran to the first block. I couldn't go back, I didn't want to be ripped apart by the ghouls that were roaming around the previous intersection. I could do it! I turned down the first alley that brought me even closer to Diamond City. Unfortunately for me, a raider blocked my path. "Hey who are you? Don't move!" I couldn't go to the left because of the trap wire and I couldn't throw myself into the arms of the female raider in front of me. So I was forced to go through the small apartment on the right. I smashed the door with all the speed and weight of my body. I found myself on the ground. Looking up, another raider was guarding the side street. "Wow wow wow! Where are you going girl? A prisoner falling from the sky, this must be my lucky day!" I heard the footsteps of the power armor approaching. They were so heavy that you could hear them a block away. I had to flee before I was torn to pieces. The raiders would buy me a few seconds. I got up and ran towards the river. I could hear gunshots coming from behind. The raiders were not likely to make a strong stand against the power armor. Another one watched the intersection. She wasn't about to turn the tables with a blade. I had to keep running and find a way to break the bond of my shackles. I ended up in a narrow alley. The gunfire stopped and I could no longer hear the footsteps of the power armor. I used the door of a destroyed car to split my restraints. At least I could pick up something to defend myself. I didn't have much hope of defeating the slaver, but I could reach Diamond City. All I had left to do was to reach the main street and follow it to the stadium. I looked back one last time. Boston was quiet again and I had managed to escape the steel claws of the power armor. Where had it gone? It must have been searching in other streets, good for me. However, something disturbed me. The ground quaked in a strange way. The person in the power armor landed in front of me. I fell to the ground from the impact. I tried to crawl back, to implore it to leave me alone with my hand... It had caught up with me and I was in big trouble. "Little bitch, did you think your escape would actually work? Well guess what, not only did it fail but you pissed me off! I'm going to carry your little ass to the auction. If you try anything, I'll crush one of your feet." I was lifted and then carried by the power armor. Its heavy steel hand blocked my spine, I could not move. We passed through a tunnel, away from Diamond City, my old way out. I was distraught. I had faced something stronger than me, I had lost and now I had to accept the fate that was about to await me. We were approaching a building with a green door. "We're here. It's time to collect." I tried to lift my neck to see where I was, I had to do the same with my feet top keep some balance. Inside, I was taken to a room and chained up by my feet. I was treated like cattle, I had given up all hope of escaping. A few minutes later, one of the auction guards came to the slaver. "What a catch! But it's not the right one, is it?" "Look, don't fuck with me. This girl came in, fought like a lioness, she ruined my armor. I captured her, I had to fix my suit, she ran away but I caught her. She is worth just as much as the main target." "Damn, she gave you a hard time huh? We'll start the bidding at 1,000 caps, you'll get half the final price. How's that sound ?" "Deal. I need the money to get back to the Capital Wastelands. I miss the tranquility of Paradise Falls." "I can imagine. You can join the lobby, we'll take care of your troublemaker." I was stripped of what I had left. A splash of water to clean me up so I was saleable and the guards chained me up from head to toe. The weight of the rusty metal restricted my movements. I had accepted my destiny. To be sold to someone in the Commonwealth. It wouldn't have been any worse than with the raiders where I was beaten and coerced into prositution. I was brought to the stage and put on display. It was so depressing. To normalize slavery like that... I guess I won't fit in with some mores of this world. "Ladies and gentlemen, here's the last batch of this noon. A young woman, in her twenties and in good health. She was captured because she had a contract on her head. It was either death or auction. Able to fight and satisfy all your needs, the first bid starts at 1,000 caps." And the bids came in, 1,500 for a guy who wanted a sex slave, 2,000 for a woman who wanted a maid for her manor, 2,500 for a couple who wanted to adopt a girl... They were all nuts. "Come on folks, I'm sure you can do better than that! Look at that fabulous body, those firm breasts, that pretty face... They're worth way more thant your little bids." The assistant forced me to kneel down during the salesman's speech. I watched the audience on my right. A father and child, a robot and the woman who wanted a maid... In the middle of the lobby stood the power armor staring at me, counting the capsules it would earn from my sale... I couldn't believe a kid would see me like that. It really was a whole diferent world. "I just heard 3,000 to my left, mister really wants a sex slave. 3,500 raised by the couple. Who says better?" A person arrived from the back of the lobby and decided to finish the auction. "5,000 caps. The next person who raises get a rebid." No more voices were spoke. The auctioneer was therefore left with no choice but to conclude. "Well, if there are no further bids... Sold! To the official of Diamond City for 5,000 caps. And we thank you." My fate was sealed. I was now enslaved to Diamond City. And to think I tried to find help there... BONUS SHOT END OF ACT 3

The old woman took me to a small house located near the ranch. "Would you like anything? Supplies? Shoes?" "No thanks, I don't want to overstay my welcome." "Suit yourself. We've had some recent trouble with a pirate crew. They've set up shop in shantytown deeper in the forest, kidnapping people to sell them into slavery. Perhaps you've met them." "I've encountered a few lone bandits on the way, yes. They're gone now, and that's how I got this rifle!" "Well done, hija! But forgive me, you're not from around here, what's your story?" We sat on the front porch and I explained my journey, from leaving Boston by boat to this day. "Wow, it's been quite a trip! And I guess you want to go home, right?" "Exactly, I saw a lighthouse on the coast. Given its condition, people live there. Maybe they spotted my boat or know where I could take one." "You've got great perception! We do business with them, when we're not being attacked. Maybe you could help us. You've got a firearm, it's quite rare around these parts. I'm asking you to get rid of just one person, their leader. Get the general then the soldiers will give up without a fight." "I can do that, yes. If you promise to help me leave this place." "Agreed, I promise. Shall we go inside?" "You can stay here for the night. Your best chance would be to attack just before sunset. 3 a.m. might be appropriate. When you leave for the lighthouse, follow the main roads and don't venture out. Coastal pirates are far more vicious than those next to us." "Many thanks to you! I'll be back in one piece with your help!" "I'm sure you will! Good luck on your journey." I lay down on the sofa. The house had no roof and I could see the stars emerging as night began to fall. I had a quick assassination to do before reaching the lighthouse. I didn't mind, because the reward was a trip back to Boston. Once back, I'd deal with Queen Isabel and return to Katy. A simple plan for a peaceful life. Shantytown, around 3 a.m. I took up position on some rocks above the shantytown. There wasn't much to observe, my feet dangling perhaps, but otherwise I saw a couple of guards trying not to fall asleep at their posts while others made the rounds. I was looking for a muscular guy with a helmet on his head, that was the chief's general description I asked for before leaving the ranch. Once I had spotted him, I drew my rifle and aimed. Muscular man, helmet on his head, Spanish words given to his troops, it was definitely the leader. To be sure of killing him, I decided to shoot his upper torso, the least muscular part of his body. The shot woke up the whole slum. The pirates would soon be hunting me down, and I couldn't stay there. To get to the lighthouse, I had to take a road guarded by a pirate stationed in a tower. He was looking for me with his sniper rifle. Too bad he didn't know which rocks I was hiding behind. After my second shot, I ran away from the pirates. There was no point in wasting the few bullets I had left on them. I followed the moonlit dirt road to an abandoned village, one of my checkpoints before reaching the lighthouse. I made my way to the small village square, joined by the dawn and its chirping early birds. I could see the mountain from here, the main hub of my Costa Rican adventure. All I had to do was climb it and head back down to the coast on the other side. My ascent had gone perfectly, and I didn't meet a soul in the heights. The lighthouse hadn't moved since the last time, which was a good thing. It could have been attacked or destroyed in a matter of days. The main road led back down towards the coast. I still had some ground to cover, but my goal was in sight. I was almost arrived, but decided to take a break at a roadside cottage with its own greenhouse. Like the village, this one looked abandoned, but I remembered yesterday's conversation with the elderly woman - there could be pirates around here. As a precaution, I pulled out my rifle and headed for the front door. After inspecting the door to see if it was booby-trapped or not, I kicked it in with my foot. Everything seemed normal, the house had just been abandoned by its residents. I wanted to pick up some supplies before getting to the lighthouse. I'd forgotten a key part of the conversation with the elderly woman: pirates lay vicious traps. I stepped on a pressure plate hidden under the carpet and a grenade rolled to my feet. It exploded instantly, releasing a gas that asphyxiated me and made me pass out. When I woke up, I had been disarmed and stripped of my leather armor. I was tied to a post with my breasts exposed, in a rather awkward position. I stared at the small group of pirates who had picked me up and placed me here. I was angry at them, but mostly, I was angry at myself for having been tricked once again. One of the female pirates came over and inspected me from head to toe before speaking: "Qui es tu, étrangère ? Tu ne ressembles pas aux autres que l'on capture ici." She spoke in French and wondered what I was doing here. They knew I wasn't from this part of the world. "Fuck you, bitch!" "Une fille qui parle anglais ! Fascinant ! Le boss sera ravi de faire ta connaissance. Amenez la au cargo et apportez le joug, au cas où elle tente quelque chose." I was going to be taken to their base in a... joug? I couldn't translate that word and that didn't sound good. So the French word joug meant yoke. It was a device quite unpleasant to bear. In its physical form, because I could no longer use my hands for anything, and in its moral form, because I felt like a draught animal. I was escorted to the pirate base, with the man in front and the woman behind with her rifle pointed at my buttocks. I'd had better endings to my former vacations. We kept walking along the beach, the midday sun beating down on us. I had a gift for getting myself into perilous situations... To spice things up halfway around the world with pirates who spoke French. It was hopeless to try an escape without the risk of being shot. I would have to endure what was to happen next and find a way. The pirates halted by a boat stranded on the beach. I was forced to kneel while they examined it. I didn't need to know any further. It was my boat, and it wouldn't take them long to find out. The pirate woman stared at me to keep me subdued while the pirate man talked to her: "Une jolie fille et un bateau échoué, quelles sont les chances ? Tu penses que c'est le sien ?" "Je ne sais pas et j'm'en fous. Elle a de beaux seins cependant. J'ai hâte de m'occuper d'elle !" "Faudra voir ça avec le boss. On devrait y aller, les autres s'occuperont du navire." Perverted bitch, she was leering at my breasts! The pirates' base was a massive cargo ship also washed up on the Costa Rican coast. I could see dozens of them... it reminded me of an old factory in Boston. I was in a real quagmire, and it would get even worse after dealing with the pirates' captain. I was locked up in a cage on the cargo ship. Several minutes later, a man with a ridge and a killer's grin came and sat down. The pirate leader himself had come to check on his merchandise, me: "My men told me they'd picked up a priceless treasure on the coast, and they didn't disappoint. You're gonna fetch a nice fortune when I find you a buyer. An American girl, right? I heard they had a pretty good slave network up there." "Screw you and your men! I've slaughtered dozens like you, you don't scare me." "Did someone ever tell you the definition... of insanity? That's exactly how you sound, a disillusioned lunatic. Look where you are, trapped like a fucking rat! But don't worry, we've got plenty of time to fix that." "You won't get away with it, I'll make you pay!" "Keep talking, girl. In the meantime, we'll have to remedy this attitude disorder. Maybe spending some time with the crew will ease your mind. If you behave this badly, I'll let them deal with you as they see fit." "You won't break me that easily, I've been through worse!" "Is that a challenge? I'll accept it. We're going to take off those pants and gag you. You're going to be one of us until you're sold, sweet slave..." Completely naked and gagged, I was taken to a room, still yoked. A hooded pirate woman opened the door and saw me on the bed: "Hot new slave! Don't worry, I'll be nice to you." "Come on puppet, spread your thighs and let me work my magic." There was nothing I could do, no way to escape or struggle. I was going to have to endure their assault and resist with all my energy. Back in hell, from castaway to slave. I had to believe in my purgatory to save myself. After being soiled and humiliated by pirates for several days, they eventually found potential buyers. Remember my boat? Well, it was searched from top to bottom, and the pirates managed to contact a large group of raiders in the Commonwealth. I was bartered for guns and ammunition and sent back to Boston. I didn't think I would hate returning home that much. To celebrate my release, the pirate's leader decided to change my hairstyle, too rebellious for his taste: "Voilà, it's better like that! We'll miss you, American slave. We'll keep some of your hair as a souvenir. Bon voyage!" And thus concludes Act 5 (Chapters 21 to 24) of Calista's adventures. Will she manage to regain her freedom and complete her journey unscathed? To be determined in the final act! END OF ACT 5

Another day later. I opened my eyes with difficulty, my head was aching. I had just come out of a two-day coma and the first thing I heard was a car on metal tracks. I was still naked and tied up with a lot of filth on my skin. A well-known collar had been placed around my neck. Oddly enough, I hadn't missed it. When my vision regained focus, I looked inside the wagon. There were more slaves. The ones at the back were dead. The guy on the left seemed lost in his thoughts while the woman on the right was suffering from an unbearable pain in her stomach. The man standing was the only one who didn't seem to be affected by anything. When he saw me raising my head, he approached me. "Holy shit! You're still alive! Let me help you get those ropes off." "Th... thank you." "They must have really hated you to leave you naked with us. Check the car's back if you can grab anything that fits you. It's not like they'll mind, poor people... We'll talk after." I moved towards the bodies, I had some difficulty to regain my balance. I was sorry to do this, but I had to dress up a little. One of the women had some ragged clothes that fit me. Pants and a linen strip to cover my breasts were quite enough. On top of that, she had managed to hide a bobby pin in one of her pockets, that was going to be useful. I felt better despite the hunger and thirst. We had to get out of here. "Okay, do you know where we're going? Can you fight?" "Mmh. I believe the train is heading south. I heard the raiders talking about a place called Miami." The woman didn't seem to be in pain anymore and joined the conversation. The other guy was still in his world of thoughts. "I'm so scared, I don't want to die!" "Hey, calm down woman, I have a bobby pin to open the car. We can escape!" "We don't know how to fight, but if can slow down the train, we can flee. I'll help you open the door, you'll be on your own afterwards." The man helped me open the car's sliding door. I was not expecting to see such a beautiful landscape with an extreme fear of the void that stood below our feet. I had the man's support while the other girl was stunned, as was I, by the scenery and how fast it passed by." "Alright, good luck woman! Try to catch the Midnight Express. It's a prisonword for... escape. I hope it will stop around here." "Thank you, I will try my best." I followed the small platform that led me to the train's rear. A ladder was there. I used it to climb up and therefore jump from car to car, hoping not to encounter any raiders along the way. From the car tops, I did not see any raiders. I jumped carefully, I tried not to exhaust myself too much, my body was quite weak. I had to find something to feed myself and something to fight with. I heard some noise ahead so I lay down. A raider was sitting in the chair, taking a good nap thanks to the empty beer bottles. I was about to make this one permanent. I grabbed her from behind, chocking her to death. I was pissed off, I had a grudge against all those slave raider bastards. She was the first to die and she wasn't going to be the last. I would wipe out all those scumbags until the train stopped, or I would die trying. She was guarding a wagon with supplies in it. Water next to a duffel bag. Inside, canned food and a revolver with three bullets left. I would only use it as a last resort. However, a sledgehammer caught my eye. I deserved a little snack break before trying this new tool on the raiders. The next car was filled with several raiders. I hadn't been detected yet and I was going to take advantage of it. One of the men saw an angry shadow, armed with a rather heavy sledgehammer. He screamed in fear. Too bad the railroad tracks muffled his voice. I used the sniper rifle from my previous encounter to take some raiders from the car with the boat. When I ran out of bullets, I picked up the sledgehammer and kept going. The adrenaline was flowing through my veins, I was unstoppable, just like that raider girl felt when she received my melee weapon in the belly. I noticed a zip line on the roof of that car. I decided to use it to quickly reach the train's front end. There were no other raiders left at the moment, so I was sure I wouldn't get shot at when I was coming down. I was unleashed. The drug gone from my body had awakened my full capabilities. After my little zip line ride, the next car was blocked by an endless amount of crates. I had to jump on the iron bars that were sticking out on the right side of the train. I wasn't afraid, I knew I was going to make it. I arrived in a car made of containers. Some were used for storage, others as resting places for the raiders. This gentleman was going to die in his sleep, I spared him from worse. He had a rifle and ammunation that would be very useful in my quest for revenge. A small wooden staircase led to the next containers. I used it as a hiding spot to eliminate the patrolling raiders, starting with the one holding a missile launcher on the car's top. What the hell was that creature? A huge kind of bear was sitting in a cage. I was going to need more firepower to kill it and move on. I knew where to find that kind of power. I managed to climb onto the wagon top and retrieved the missile launcher from the raider's body. Three missiles, that's what this mutant creature would eat. "Say hello to my little friend!" Maybe I went a little too hard. The rockets killed the creature, but the car would soon go off the rails too. I didn't hesitate, I jumped down and ran for safety the fastest way I could. After a few moments, there was a small explosion and the rear cars came apart. At least, my fellow slaves companions would be able to escape, I wished them luck. Not every raider was an idiot. One of them had managed to set up tatos (a mixture of potato and tomato), corn and mutant fruit crops. When you lived on a train, you had to be self-sufficient. I didn't know what was waiting for me in the next closed car, I took some food before going through the doors. More raiders, what a surprise! They were chatting in the bar carriage, paying barely any attention to the barefoot slave who had them in her crosshair. I had enough bullets left to send them to the next world. That was their fate, for each and every one of these scums. With the bar cleaned, I kept advancing. It had to happen. The car's boss emerged from one of the booths with a remote control and activated it. My collar made a clicking noise before I received an electric shock that made me scream and lose my weapon. "Where are you going, slave? You should have stayed with the others. I'll make you pay!" She pressed the remote until I was on the ground, unable to resist from the electric shocks that were affecting my entire body. "So you're the rebellious girl I've heard about. Like every slave, they need to understand their rightful place. Luckily for that, I have this remote and you have that collar around your neck. Now that you seem cooled down, I'm going to molest you." END OF PART 1

I'd dreamed it, and there she was: Queen Isabel, captured and bound. Hinged handcuffs were wired to Croup Manor's huge basement girder, and I'd taken the liberty of removing her shoes to bind her feet. Like me, Isabel did not wear socks either. Maybe like me, she was sensitive down there too... In any case, I had to wait for her to wake up; Kimy told me she'd be knocked out for an hour or so. I could still enjoy my catch a little longer! Captive Isabel woke up angry at being taken prisoner. I moved closer, taunting her by touching her nose with my fingertip: "At last you're back! Greetings Isabel, did you miss me?" "Calista! You bitch! Get your mistress free right now!" "Yeah, I don't think so. Revenge is a fool's game. And believe me, I know exactly how to play it." "I'm gonna cut loose, smash your face in, and then..." I had enough, I was forced to interrupt. I put my foot on her throat to remind who was in control around here. "You see, Isabel, you lost. The only reason you're still breathing at this point is because you somehow bailed me out of Libertalia. By the way, sorry about that, but there can't be much left of it now, same goes for Wire... You can bet your boots on it. But you know, on the other hand, I haven't forgotten our first encounter, or how I had to please you on the way to Nuka World. So today, you're going to return the favor. If you do a good job pleasing me, I'll let you live and you'll never hear from me again. Agreed?" She nodded. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted from her. "First, you're going to lick my feet and I expect it to be done right. If you try to bite me, I'll choke you with my foot." It was the first time I'd ever asked this of anyone. Now I understood why it felt so damn nice, Isabel knew how to use her tongue and my toes seemed to be so mellow. "Good, good, my former mistress is gifted! I want the same on my other foot, is that clear?" Isabel nodded again. I wondered why she was so docile, was she afraid for her life? Well, I certainly enjoyed it. While she licked my other foot, I couldn't help staring at her feet. I really did have a fetish for it... I was starting to imagine certain things in my head that turned me on. Isabel belonged to that slave-owning caste that disgusted me, but she only did it for her own survival first, and then for her own gain. Currently, Isabel had to worship my feet in order to be spared. Her survival and gain were now tied to my satisfaction and I wasn't done with her yet. I lay down before Isabel's feet. I began to stroke her soles with two fingers, to test her ticklishness: "Well... after tying you up and taking off your shoes, I wondered... Is the great Queen Isabel vulnerable? Seeing your bare feet exposed like that... It's worth a try isn't it?" "Don't you dare..." "What? It's not like you did this to me a few months ago. Besides, a little tickling is always fun!" She tried to keep her cool, but it wasn't going to take her much longer to lose it. With both hands, and by tickling her feet thoroughly, I finally made her laugh. "What's wrong? Other than caps and being your slave?" "I wouldn't have taken you with me if I didn't have a crush on you, Calista." "Well, thanks, that's all I wanted to hear." We kissed one last time. Both of us broke character. The mistress-slave bond came to an end. Shortly afterwards, Fahrenheit joined the party. I knew she had a score to settle with Isabel over Goodneighbor's affairs. My former mistress felt embarrassed and betrayed. "Calista, who the hell is this woman and what the hell is she doing here?" "Sorry Isabel, it's just business." "I'm Fahrenheit and I'm taking your ass back to Hancock's office. He didn't like the dirty tricks you were pulling with the Triggermen and wants to hear all about it." "But... You said you'd let me live..." "Exactly. I didn't say how or with whom you'd live, though." "You lying little bitch, I'll have your head!" "I've heard enough. Calista, you can go outside. I'll make sure our prisoner is fully restrained for the homeward journey. And gag her because she's pissing me off!" I sat on the mansion's front porch. The sun was slowly beginning to rise, dawn lighting up the horizon with a soft orange hue. I thought of nothing, just enjoying the moment. Kimy discreetly joined me for a chat: "What's on your mind Cali honey?" "It's so beautiful, isn't it? I wish I could live these moments every day. Clear my head and simply cherish the world we live in now." "You know... You could do a lot more than that. Walk with me." "Take a look at this mansion. It's been partially destroyed for centuries and no one has tried to repair it. You could do it, Calista. Home isn't a defined place, it's what you make of it. Plus, you've got everything you love around here: a big house like in your old days, the ocean for you to swim in, the sand for you to walk barefoot leisurely... I'll help you renovate it if you need a change of scenery, okay?" "Thanks Kimy, it means a lot to me! The mansion has potential but I don't know, it sounds like a tough project... I'll give it some thought." Kimy and I returned to our role as chatterboxes while Fahrenheit escorted a shackled Isabel: "Come on, move it, we've got a long way to go to Goodneighbor!" Seeing her captive like that, I had some flashbacks of the auction day's events before resuming the conversation with my friend: "So your research didn't pan out? After so many months in DC?" "Yeah, I spent more time marketing my devious devices in Rivet City than actually digging into the serum's content. It was only last month that I found out what it does: it alters your strength and stamina for about ten minutes. You seem to be invincible during this period. But it doesn't alter your lifespan, a unique Cabot property, no doubt." "Wow, that sounds incredible! If you knew what I was doing last month... You wouldn't believe your eyes!" Fahrenheit forced Isabel onto her knees. Kimy and I joined them, the three of us looking down at the tightly bound prisoner. "The female slaver is ready for transport. Quite ironic that she's the one chained up. A taste of her own medicine, am I right, Calista?" "Isabel has caused so much trouble... She captured me, tortured me, shipped me away by train and then acquired me from raiders. I did the same to her. I think we're even now." "Oh? That explains why she so desperately wanted to pee. You tickled her until she lost it, didn't you?" "Maybe I did. You can use that on her to get your questions answered." "Clever, thanks for the tip! Come on, it's time to go." "You better walk or I'll kick your ass to force you to!" Fahrenheit had this very wicked side, fortunately for me, she was in my corner. Kimy handed me my backpack with my clothes and supplies. "We're going back to Goodneighbor. I know you've got a stop to make first, and since it's so close... You should head there right away. I'm sure your little girl will be thrilled to welcome you again!" "Thanks Kimy, you are truly the best!" "I know! Good luck Calista and think about what we talked about." I changed and set off for Salem, located an hour's walk from the Croup Manor. The town looked as deserted and forlorn as ever, just like the first time I'd visited it almost a year ago. I had made a promise to Katy: when I was clear of all my problems, I would come back for her and we would live together. I intended to honor that word. As I approached Barney's bunker, where I expected to see him and Katy again, I saw several Mirelurks corpses. The turrets had probably killed them but I had to stay on my toes because they didn't cover the whole city and could also run out of ammo. For these reasons, I drew my revolver, my fellow gun during my Midnight Express. I kept moving before two more mirelurks appeared. Damn, they were scary as hell comin' up from the ground. That wasn't going to stop me from taking them out, they weren't very fast and their shells protected their entire bodies. They only had one weak point, their tiny faces. That's where I was aiming at. I had shot dead the first one, but the glowing second one made an aggressive charge with its claws. I dived to the side to get a perfect view over the remaining mirelurk's face. Two bullets later, it collapsed as well. With the danger averted, I climbed the stairs to Barney's house. He came to greet me after hearing my gunshots. "Calista, what a nice surprise! Thanks for the help, we've been a bit overwhelmed lately..." "Hi Barney! Where's Katy? Is she safe?" "Yeah, she was sniping mirelurks from the roof, you'll find her in the back." After all these months, we were finally reunited! I took her in my arms and gave her the warmest of hugs. "Katy! I told you I'd come back for you! It's all over now, I'm free as a bird! We can live anywhere! Are you ready to venture out again with me?" She looked just as happy to welcome me back as I did, and she nodded in response to my question. I felt like I'd abandoned her yesterday, but I won't let that ever happen again! END OF PART 1

I am Calista. I woke up in a cryogenic laboratory. I lost part of my memory. What I remember is pretty vague... I was in a peaceful suburb before the Bombs blew up. The pod opened up, I retrieved some clothes, a gun and a Pip-Boy from a corpse before exiting the Vault. I didn't know what the world has become but I hoped to start a new life in this devastated world. As I was about to follow the path to the ruins down the hills, two men came out of nowhere. It was an ambush! I couldn't reach my gun and was strangled until I passed out. When I opened up my eyes, something felt different. A heavy weight around my neck. What was that? A collar??? What the hell was going on? One of my kidnapper who was watching me decided to talk: "Alright girly, you have been collared. If you don't want your head to pop off, you'll do what I say and you'll live understand? Now strip off and give me all your stuff." I didn't have a choice, I was forced to comply. The man threw me some tattred rags. "Here, put them on. We go upstairs now." Once upstairs, I was handcuffed. The other kidnapper spoke up: "Listen up, you're our prisoner, you do whatever we tell you to do and you only talk if we tell you to. We have a long walk coming in." "Where are we going? Can I have some shoes?" "A rebellious girl? I'm going to fix this." The man with the hat pulled out a whip and started to hitting me with it. It was a bit painful but I had to be strong and not give up. "Take this vault dweller, I will teach some manners. No talking except if we ask a question. Do you get that?" "Yes! YES! Please stop it burns!" "Next time it will be the collar that takes care of you. You better behave yourself." "Okay okay... sir..." I was helpless and had to follow their instructions. Outside, I could find a way to escape. The other kidnapper indicated that it was time to leave. The sun was setting and we were crossing through a small town. I was between the two kidnappers, it was impossible to do anything. Hatman warned me: "Listen kid, not having shoes is no excuse to slow down. And if you try to walk away, the collar explodes. You've been warned." The main street was guarded by small thugs. Hatman pulled out his minigun for them, to keep them in line. Museum of freedom... What about mine? We stopped in front of a house, I had to call for help to get the inhabitants out. "Please help me, there are thugs looking for me! Let me in, I beg you!" "Looks like she passed the test with flying colors Cowboy. Let's go, it's getting dark." We stopped near the road. Kneeling in front of them, they lit a campfire. They gave me some dirty water and a can of food. I was exhausted, my skin chafed from the lashings and walking barefoot. The seated man spoke to me: "Look girly, you behaved well earlier, that's why we fed you. Your next life won't be easy but if you make the right choices, you'll survive and be protected." "Is this your daily routine? Kidnapping people and enslaving them for their own safety?" "This world is terrible, you can die in an instant. Between radiation, mutant animals or people worse than us, consider yourself lucky to have survived today." "You are still criminals. One day it will be your turn." "Ahah! We are survivors and you too will do what is in your best interest to survive. Come on, time for bed." The night was short, the weight of the collar and being handcuffed did not help. I was woken up by Hatman who wanted to show his authority: "Come on slave! Get up! We have a long way to go." I woke up exhausted. The two kidnappers were talking about the way back to their base. I was still struggling to understand my condition. One day you're awake from a cryogenic lab and the next day you're going to be slave. Maybe this was the new world that was meant for me? We set off again. Fog covered the area. Hatman was still standing behind me, proud to escort his trophy. He taunted me: "Another good day in the Commonwealth, right? At least for those who are still free." I let it pass, I was still tired of all the events. The road led south. Everything was completely unknown to me. I was just following. My hands and feet were sore. I had to keep going. No way I was going to have this collar blow my head off. We were almost there. The factory overlooking the city was the slavers' base. The town seemed deserted, it was a perfect cover for these criminals. I had to prepare myself for what I was about to experience. The kidnappers ordered me to get down on my knees. I had to repeat the test exercise from the day before, except that a real person was inside. "Please help! I escaped from slavers but they are still after me, please open!" The two kidnappers were staring at me, I had to prove myself. This was not a test. Another slave was well hidden in this house. Together we went to the doors of the slavers' den. Corvega... So this was the beginning of my new life? Once in the factory I was stripped naked and tied to a cross. The leader of the spoke with one of the kidnappers: "We found that one. Vault Dweller. She's going to learn fast, she already knows how to behave." "All right. New recruits are scarce, we'll try to preserve her. Hand me the tattoo gun." "Wait, wait. You don't have the right, I'm not an animal!" "You belong to us. Let's make that clear to the other scum that populate this land. And especially to you. Don't let us down, Vault Slave." I screamed in pain. Most of the other slavers laughed at me until I fainted. We hit the road again. The slavers were supposed to take us to our new home outside the city. That's where I would receive my training. Underneath my clothes, my skin was burning. "Hurry up, this will be the beginning of your new life, slave. You better get used to it and fast." Hatman had this talent for breaking the mood. I just had to think about how to get through this. At the exit of the city, under the highway, there was a small water point. Right next to it was my new home. An old shack that was spared from the wastelands. Once inside, I was tied to a cross. The owner of the shack was talking with the kidnappers. He hoped he made a good investment in me. I had become his property. This discovering journey took me into a dark story... Could I overcome it?
