Hi Everyone,
Happy 2019! I won’t give too much of an update, other than to say that I plan to keep Adrea as the main girl on this blog. We’ll jump around to others, as I’m storyboarding her next adventure :-). Speaking of Adrea, she’s in a bit of a pickle, can you help her out by replying to the poll above?
Decisions, Decisions...
Adrea: Ugh, I’m exhausted! It’s been nothing but work, work, work, work, work since I got back to Solstheim. I’m beginning to think it might have been better to let everyone think I was dead after that last adventure…
Adrea: Varina’s been relentless, never giving me a moment to rest. It’s always “contract this” and “money that” and “you took a 2 month vacation while the rest of us were worried sick”. SO ANNOYING! I didn’t ask to be drugged, then locked in a dungeon by some dragon worshipping freaks, ok!? How many more of these do I have to do?!
Adrea: Lets see, I’m doing 7 jobs a day… 3 of which are usually Dior’s, who’s currently on vacation. Carry the 4...I’ve completed 189 contracts… out of the 210...Only 3 more days of working myself ragged left!! If I have to look at another contract, I may just jump into the ocean and never come back. Maybe it’s time to pursue higher education….
Adrea: ...I could do that..that seems like a good pursuit...but then there’s the… OH Hey! I didn’t notice you there. I’m having a bit of a crisis trying to figure out my future plans. Doing contract work for the Sylphs is great and all, but I’m feeling unfulfilled… I think it’s because I never completed by education at the College and I think I could be doing more with my skills…
Adrea: Most of my skills are well past your typical mage that graduates from that college, but I never got to specialize in a field that was interesting to me. I’ve narrowed it down to 4 paths I can take, but I’m still comparing them and what that means for my future. Will you help me out? THANKS!? ?
MAGUS
Adrea: I could become a Magus, a magic user who combines their martial skills with their magic ability to devastating effect. I think I’d enjoy combining my magic into a sword and defeating anyone who thinks they can take me…
Adrea: I’m pretty good at enchanting jewelry which can’t be much different than weapons. The magic seems pretty simple to learn as well, just take a devastating spell and channel it through the weapon!
Magus Adrea: So..put that there, reroute the magic that way..avoid the imperfection in blade...and Poof! 3 enchantments in 1 dagger.
Adrea: Also, there are enchanted weapons all over. If I ever wanted to learn the magic all I’d have to do is dive into any house/tomb/barrow and I’d have a new enchantment!
Magus Adrea: Sword of the Moon, I’ve been looking all over for you...come to Mama!
Adrea: The only problem I can see here is that I’m not very good with a sword. Sure, I can throw a dagger, but when it comes to swordplay, I’m just as likely to drop my sword as I am to swing it.
Magus Adrea: Oh Damn! I swung my sword and ended up dropping it!
Adrea: ... Also, the one person I would think to ask for help in this endeavour currently hates me…
Varina: OH, that’s rich, Little-Miss-2-Month-Vacation wants me to teach her how to use a sword? If you thought you were working hard before, just wait till I get started with you.
Arcanist
Adrea: So I could go be an Arcanist. A magic user obsessed with powerful magic. I’d be focused on potent magic rather all types of magic, so I would have fewer spells than a wizard/sorceress.
Adrea: ...But oh how powerful they would be! They could be strong enough to wipe out entire blocks and change the very landscape of the earth.
Arcanist Adrea: SUN!...MOON!...THEIR POWER COURSING THROUGH MY VEINS! DIVINE FIRE! AHHHHH!
Adrea: Most of the spells would be acquired through ancient rituals or from old tombs, so I’d get to keep tomb diving, but that’s fun for me, so that’s a plus!
Arcanist Adrea: A floating ball of light, it seems to be following me around the room. It must be potent magic.
Adrea: But there are downfalls with exploring tombs all day… namely the traps, that seem to be more common with magical entities.
Arcanist Adrea: OH Crap! Something must have triggered the cage… I’m stuck…
Adrea: Also, this all or nothing form of magic, may leave me at a disadvantage when it comes to dealing with smaller issues.
Arcanist Adrea: The ugly 4 legged fiend who trigger the trap!? I was locked in that cage for 10 hours! YOU WILL KNOW MY WRATH! BURNING SUNS POWER!
Skeever: SQUEEE!!!!!
?*Explosion*?
Enchantress
Adrea: On the subtler end of the spectrum, I could become an Enchantress. This specialization utilizes illusion and “charisma” to accomplish its’ goals.
Enchantress Adrea: Sir, what a lovely feast you’re sitting next too! Can I ask why you’re washing it down with that muddy alto wine?
Adrea: I’ve definitely got the right assets to pull off this specialization, the pay is great, and I know just the product I can sell.
Patron: All my friends drink this wine, and it’s been my drink of choice since I was a lad. Why would I ever change?
Enchantress Adrea: But if you’ve always done what you’ve always did, then you’ll always get what you’ve always got! Sam’s Fire Wine will get you the punch you need to get going. Grab all your friends, I’ll give you a demonstration.
Adrea: While, this specialization does utilize my body to get what I want. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine to tease people to achieve my ends.
Enchantress Adrea: Oh, Wow! There are so many people. It might be a tight fit but, follow me downstairs, I’ll give you a show you won’t soon forget… ;-)
Adrea: Plus, I wouldn’t have to go through with anything. I could just use my illusion magic to make people do what I want...although that feels a bit manipulative.
Enchantress Adrea: I have these 3 barrels of Sam’s Fire Wine just waiting for you. Won’t you buy them from me for 350 gold a barrel?
Patrons (hypnotized): Yes...350 a barrel is a steal...take all our monthly earnings…
Adrea: However, Enchantress isn’t really a combat class. I’d have to rely on manipulating people to avoid confrontation or to fight for me. I wouldn’t lose all my previous magic experience, but I might placed into some awkward situations.
Bandit Collector 1: That Patron told me he gave all his money to you for cheap wine. He was going to use the money to pay off his debt to us.
Bandit Collector 2: Give us the money or we’ll force it out of you plus interest.
Enchantress Adrea: Boys! How was I supposed to know he was going to pay you? Is there no way we can work this out?
Bandit Collectors: NO!
Adrea: Plus, while Sanguine has been mostly good to me so far. There are well established stories of maidens who have had a less than pleasant time with the Daedric Lord. Making him angry might, result in that for me as well.
Sanguine: Think making Fire Wine is free, huh? I’ll have you know it takes weeks to brew even a single barrel. I know what I’ll do, I’ll just leave you hanging here until the next shipment is done...tootles
Enchantress Adrea: No! Wait! I’m sorry, I was robbed! Please, Forgive me!
Sanguine: No.
Sorceress
Adrea: And finally, there’s what I originally wanted to be… A Sorceress. A magic user with a wide variety of spells and a large mana pool. I’d have just the right spell for the right situation.
Adrea: I already have a large mana pool thanks to all this contract work I’ve been doing. It’d just be a matter of focusing it down different paths of magic.
Adrea: Also, I mentioned this earlier, this was the reason I went to the College of Winterhold in the first place! I really wanted to be a Sorceress.
Young Adrea: First Day of School at the College! I’m gonna be the best Sorceress ever! #selfie #nofilter #howamieventakingthisphoto?
Adrea: But I’ve noticed a few things about wizards and sorceresses since I’ve been around them. They don’t have any fun and are super serious all the time. I think that just happens to everyone in the field...except one or two people. I’d probably lose my fun streak too.
Sorceress Adrea: I’m zero fun and forgot how to smile 100 years ago… Get back to work.
Adrea: And worst of all, I’d have to learn Alteration magic...eww, eww, eww, eww, eww. People shouldn’t mess with the physical properties of other people. It’s just wrong!
Sorceress Adrea: This student just asked if I could clear up her acne...How did I turn her into a cow?!?
Back in the Room
Adrea: So as you can see, I’ve got quite a bit of thinking to do. Each class has their upsides and downsides, that’s what makes this such a difficult decision. The good news is once, I start walking down a path, I can still learn things from the other ones. But that might just make me terrible at everything and not really good at something.
Adrea: Dammit! I give up. I’m just going to go back and forth until I finally settle down and pick one. Maybe you can help me out, by picking from the list above? You all are really good at knowing what I should do next.
Adrea: Why can’t I just get paid to be good looking? I suppose looks are free and it would be difficult to charge people for them. I gotta find a way to get paid for that. Why is the thing I want never easy?
