Don't feel bad. I live in what's supposed to be one of the richest counties in the world. But the annual salary and benefits here in the South are abysmal compared to other parts of the country. The only reason I stay is because of my mom. Somebody has to look out for her. 

P.S. Wealth doesn't do anything to improve a person's character. Mostly the opposite.

It can't be changed in a few years. But that's the idea, that we make it a better place for the next generation.

I had a chance to look into the changes in Spain within 1 or 2 generations. It could have gone much better, but still, it's a lot.

Hate to break it to you, but it's pretty much that way most places. Incidentally, I've seen some beautiful homesteads in S. America with acres and acres of land. Just think of the glorious parties you could host! I better be invited btw... 

Say.... there's an LL member that lives in Jamaica and that's not too far. I think you two would get along quite nicely (if you know what I mean).

Speaking from a foreigner's perspective, I can understand why the national/identity card is played so much.

I don't agree to it, I don't see advantages but disadvantages from it, but I can understand why weak politicans and similar stakeholders play it. It's predictable.

You can see it in a lot of other places in the EU.
