Although my Photoshop version is long outdated, I know a fair bit of photoshopping myself. And I don't believe the left image (although the skin clearly has been filtered) is a photoshopped version of the right one. So if the elder person used the image on the left, the problem is she used someone else's picture, not the edition itself.

Now, what is photoshopping ? Cropping the borders ? Tuning the black and white levels ? Adjusting the colors ? Using filters to remove noise ? Filtering the spots ? Altering the shapes ? There's a whole range of edits one could do with photoshop, from the simpler to the most complex. When is it acceptable, and when is it not ?

The same applies for make-up btw. Is it okay to conceal dots ? To blacken your eyelashes ? To reshape your eyebrowns ? To play on the shades to alter the shapes' impression ? To use false eyelashes or nails ? 

Take a look at that, and then look at the beginning of the video. No photoshop, just pure make-up :

So IMO, regarding image editing and make-up, whether its cheating or alright depends on the extent ; since at maximum extend both allow considerable changes compared to the truth underneath.

EDIT : btw, not judging Archie (the guy doing the make-up tutorial), whether on his skills (which are amazing) or how he uses them (not to mention his appreciable humor ^^). A lot of dragqueens and/or transgenders use those kind of tricks, and they're free to do as they wish. It's just that his tutorial shows how vast the differences between no make-up vs an extensive mastered one can lead to a dramatically different result. ?
