Author's stuff on writing: Character Designs(4/)
Hello everyone!
this is entry gonna be a lot more different, its really some designs and thoughts on things, maybe not the most interesting to read, but I wanted make an entry about something.
Character designs:
Lets continue talking about my character design in my works, this is lot shorter compared the previous entry as well, this time, we
Start it with
Gauis Tiberius Magnus
Ahhh yes Gauis, a major character in my setting, he directly aint tied to any stories of my blog, he appears the most in Gwynolda's one, but mentioned in Arilith's one and will be mentioned or even appaear in Vera's tales too.
Gauis go from supportive to a world building character to a straight up antagonist, that varies in the context of the stories, he function as part of the world/setting character, who can appear in any of my work in the said one.
1. Imperial War Mage
The most used and main apperance of Gauis, also the most well liked according the comments of my readers.
I wanted make a character, who always bring a serious or threatening mood, no safety whenever he appears. Someone the readers can feel the power and authory.
He is originally planned to be main antagonist of the early drafts of Gwynolda's story in the reach, but that changed a lot and his role is varies in the story.
So to say, Gauis was already existing concept since the start, I just didnt got a chance to make him.
In Gwynolda's story he was an co-protagonist and a supportive character, even if his motivations and goals are not nice toward her.
Gauis is a lawful evil aligned character, in a leading position of the Empire, he is pragmatic, ruthless and ambitious, focused on his goals and the "greater good of the Empire". He has an attitude of end justify means, so morally he is more flexible on tools and methods as long as they work. He prefers efficiency in combat, governing and handling his matters.
Design wise, he wears uniforms, this is standard issue imperial battle-mage armour with his own touches with it, to express Gauis lack of care of fancy things, he wears the same uniform as anyone in the army, no matter his position.
The cloak and mask serves a purpose of mystery along with his one eye, to hide his face and identity, to keep an aura of unknown.
As well to make him stand out and recognisable, after all he is the leading imperial battle-mage.
This look is more Gauis's combat and war look, he usually wear if he need fight in a major battle against armies or larger groups or appear for more different bussiness, an less official look to say, and more well known in the army.
His mannerism in term of poses and expressions are, regal, official, menacing/threatening and facially unexpressive due the mask, Gauis's speech pattern tend to be more proffessional and direct.
2. Emperor
The second design is his official known look and the imperial battle mage armour of the elder council. This look is more known to the public, its how Gauis is seen usually for official bussiness and meetings.
I went a mix of military and royal vibes with this design, like a militarist emperor to say.
I had a lot roman inspiration in this one, as well even Warhammer to say, the fantasy one of course.
His mask is core of his design to keep up the mystery and as well to hide his face and identity.
As always, Gauis true face and identity is unknown to anyone.
This design is also his more serious encounter one, Gauis uses this armour against very high level threats.
His mannerism is the same.
And its done, he dont have anything else for now ^^.
I dont have any other character to cover yet, so this series on a short stopping.
