Ok actually got it to work, sort of. I had to restart the game after restarting the mod manager. However I have a new bug now, when I surrender, nothing happens, the enemies just hang around my char. Am I missing an animtion or something?

Same question, tried R to holster weapon and the CSA hotekey from MCM but neither works.

bump since my post got lost in the unequip issue: I encountered a weird bug that is kind of gamebreaking.My char was enslaved by hired thugs. When the we passed near the Valthiem Towers (the small dungeon where they ask for toll east of Whiterun) They were attacked and I escaped, I made it to Goldenlock Mine (darkwater crossing) and freed myself. Now if I sleepor go near the towers at least one of the thugs finds me again. And that's the weird part: near the thugs I loose control over the char and an aniation starts with my char simply walking away and then I'm stuck standing while npcs act like if we were fighting. It is really weird and keeps happening no way to get rid of that bug. I think I must be missing something.
