What non-adult mods do you swear by?

So I've got my game modded up pretty well with adult content that's really enhanced Skyrim for me. That much is probably obvious since this is LoversLab and we're mostly all kinky here in some fashion or another.

But adult content aside, I'm looking for some decent mods for standard stuff in Skyrim to make the gameplay experience better. I've beaten the game a half dozen times and even though I still enjoy it with the addition of all the adult content, I'm finding myself slightly bored with the game itself in certain areas and I'm hoping to find some stuff to freshen it up.

Not really looking for anything in particular, I guess I'm more interested in what mods you folks consider "must-haves." I'm also not really looking at graphical enhancement stuff as I've got all that in place, mostly just core gameplay mechanics and other fun or useful "functionality" mods that dramatically improve the gameplay experience for the player.

Do you use combat overhaul mods? If so, which?
Any mods which add spells or new weapons that you love?
Do you have mods that add new cells, buildings, NPC's?
Any quest mods you have a lot of fun with?
Any mods that add new skill trees, or skill overhaul mods?
UI or other enhancement mods? (like the map overhaul mods, or clock mods like A Matter of Time)
Etc... :)

Anything that you personally use every time you play Skyrim, or anything that really stands out to you is what I'm interested in. If there's a thread that's already covered this, I apologize. I tried a few searches but didn't come up with much (aside from the "Hidden Gems" thread in a different subforum). Thanks in advance, folks.

Enhanced Camera is a must-have. It lets you adjust camera height, FOV, how far you can zoom in, change the sneaking/combat views, everything. I can't even imagine having to use the default camera settings at this point. The Underground Bathhouse/Paradise Valley mod is kind of adult oriented, but the functionality is great. Lots of storage, looks good, and has teleports to and from the house.

1 mod I can't live without:  Personalized Music.  It allows you to add or replace the standard music.  You can have different music for days and night in taverns, cities, etc.

Several other mods I would look at:

Become a Bard (it's on Steam, but the author has an external link so you can download and add it outside of Steam)

Almost anything by EnaiSiaion (Sacrosanct, Imperious, Wildcat, Aurora, Ordinator, Summermyst) .

Almost anything by Kryptopyr (Disparity, CACO, CCOR, C&CF, Trade & Barter, W&AF, etc)

Almost anything by Expired6978 (RaceMenu, EFF, Floating Healthbars)

Almost anything by Arthmoor (USLEEP (of course), Alt Start - Live Another Life, Cutting Room Floor, various town remakes, etc)

Thanks everyone! Going to check a whole bunch of these out tonight. Exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for. The Personalized Music mod is actually something I was thinking about last night while speeding through quests. The inn music has always been a little dull for me and lately I've been spending a lot of time in them because of quests. Thanks for that recommendation.

What other goodies am I missing? Any good spell/skill additions that would be worth checking out? One thing I've always wanted is a bit more in the way of non-lethal stuff, like bludgeons that could knock someone out rather than killing them, or sleep spells/poisons, etc. It'd be neat if there were some total skill overhauls with entirely new traits and abilities.

EDIT: Just found Ordinator, thanks to srayesmanll. Gonna give this one a shot, looks like it might be a lot of fun. Some of those new perks sound really intriguing. Thanks man

So far the only non-adult quest mod i've played is maids II: deception and that was pretty nice and long. It felt a little bit empty sometimes, on the other hand i liked especially the interiors where it doesn't feel like space is a limited resource. They are pretty and have a lot of stuff there, but it's not crowded like most places i've seen.

It also has a lot of choices, but i'm not sure how much those influence the later game, some should change things at least a bit but i didn't replay. The worst i can say is that i regretted it's not an adult mod several times... so many missed options. ;)

Not really a "hidden" gem, but AddItemMenu is one of my must haves. Even if it's only not to bother with console for some armor mods.

That was the EXACT reason I installed PM - the tavern music.  I used MultiXWM (link on the PM page) to convert several songs to XWM for the mod (Blackmore's Night has a lot of renaissance style music with a modern tinge, and songs from Jon Anderson's The Promise Ring which has some good Irish-style folk songs).  I actually haven't used much more than the tavern music.

As far spells, Enaisiaion (the one who did Ordinator) has a spell package that is pretty nice:  Apocalypse.  Another good one is The Lost Grimoire.  And both work well with Ordinator (Grimoire does not need a path, but strangely Apocalypse does   ...)  There is a sleep spell mod on Nexus but I've never used it myself (don't have link, just search for "sleep" and it should be near the top as I believe it was recently updated).

command dragon,(for when u ride a dragon, specialy if you have a mod that disables fast travel, cuz then u will fast travel with ur dragon in real time rather than a fucking loading screen)

flying mod (for endgame where u get board and want to roam the land like a true dragonborn) + ERF succubus,i use the wings,i retextured them for my purposes.

Also uhmm,Soul ripper armor and weapons set,i modified my own mesh and removed the book and the dagger, its my go to armor set on any playthrough.u can try the ebony plate armor set from the ''beyond reach mod'' ,its pretty bunkers and the ''other'' best looking armor set in the game in my opinion,

also for ENB i use Grim and somber jus cuz the water looks fantastic,

uhmm wtf else, tundra defense is a great way to build an actual kingdom for yourself,i made mine in labrynth.

lets see what else,Dynavision is pretty necessary if u don't want ur skyrim to look like utter shit just in case ur not using ENB or ur ENB gives u DOF bugs and shit in whcih case u have to disable the DOF,

for followers,ACALYPHA IS A FUCKING MUST! (you'll need to change her body slide tough if ur using HDT)

for body mods HDT animated pussy all in one is pretty great and simple,

oh well,if i wanted to list every ''essential'' mod it would take forever considering im running at somewhere around 2000 mods currently, and thats just the ESP's.

Another mod I can't live without (just realized I didn't re-install it!) is Inigo...https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40960/?

It's weird, I loathe  most follower mods, but this is near perfection and I love using him. It is just class, top shelf, amazing...etc. It's nice to have a follower mod that isn't just a pack mule or a lazy "pretty face" with metric ton zeppelin shaped titties in a chainmail bikini chick...which there are far too many of IMHO.

I use a small collection of gameplay mods - Stones of Barenziah, Paarthurnax (not his stones, that's the mod name and makes it easy to resolve for queasy ones like this one), Dark Brotherhood for the Good Guys, Auto Unequip ammo, Run for your lives and All Books have Perks. I also have a collection of homes - Moonstone Castle is my favourite, but Lakeview Manor pool is also great. And the great Manipulator, which is a tool I cannot really live without any more.

Actually my mod list is 80% non-adult, and 20% adult. In actual gameplay the ratio is skewed even more, maybe 5% of the actual play time is spent on adult content. However, I'd say outside of the actual game, I spend more time with tweaking the load order and creating/editing/merging mods to get the game to look how I want it.

I was spending tons of time using SLENs trainer feature, but after the book perk boosts I hardly ever spend any time doing that - maybe right at the beginning of the game, but not after.

And I'm not even going to start mentioning NPC replacers, followers, companions and armor/clothes mods. Would take too long.

This thread is a gold mine. Thanks for sharing your favorite mods, everyone. Keep them coming, if you use something all the time and haven't seen it posted yet, by all means post it here so others can add it to their modlists.

I think tonight is going to be another long night of mod hunting and installations. B-)

[snip]

Holy crap, this list is great. I'm already running a few of these but most of these flew completely under my radar. Thanks!

I'm the same, to be honest. When I first got back into Skyrim a few months back I was more focused on the adult content, but the luster of that has dulled a bit and now I'm getting back into the game itself and really exploring the massive amount of creations people have made for this game. There are so many mods available that you can really have a totally unique playthrough every time (aside from the core quests of course). I'm more using the adult content here on LoversLab to supplement the game rather than making it my main focus.

And ditto on the time spent tweaking and hunting down mods. That's half the fun. Feels so rewarding when you have a mod that isn't playing nicely and you finally figure out the issues to get it working just right.

This was one of the first voiced follower mods I downloaded actually, and I agree 100%. He's top notch. And you're way too right on the plethora of "pretty face" followers. I still have a few of the higher quality ones in my load order but for the most part I've uninstalled the majority of them and replaced them with better, more fleshed out, voiced followers. Someone mentioned Interesting NPCs (Lodakai I think), and I think that's a perfect example of NPC/follower mods done right.

Going to try out those two tonight. I have a feeling I won't need to bother with the sleep spell mod since it looks like these include such a wide variety of new spells that I'll be set for awhile.

================
Just wanted to add, I know most of these mods could be easily found by using the search feature on Nexus or here on LL (or via google), but for those of us who are relatively new to Skyrim mods it can be a bit daunting to try and sift through countless lists. A lot of different mods might cover similar features, so if you do a search for something specific and you get five different mods to choose from, it can get frustrating playing the trial-and-error game to see which one works best. That's why I appreciate the replies here so much, you've all saved me (and hopefully others) countless hours of digging through mod lists.

Thanks, and keep them coming! :D

Well if spells are your thing...

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/80405/?  Better spell learning... so it's not just a one shot splat.. read the spell and you have it.  You have to study it over time.

If you want to go as far as crafting spells.. spell research can be your thing too..    https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/81214/?   These give you something to do over at the college.

and if you haven't already improved it.. you can even get lessons and a more immersive experience at the college with https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36849/? Immersive college of winterhold..

And of course you will need the ultimate wizard tower to be the grandmaster mage that you are destined to be.   And that tower has to be Caranthir tower reborn

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/76231/?

I should note that if you are new to modding...  you absolutely need to use http://www.loverslab.com/files/file/2551-crash-fixes/ to fix skyrims memory flaws.

Otherwise you will experience crashes more frequently.   You need to install the SKSE preloader they suggest as well as setting the OSallocator flag in the ini.  And of course,  mod organizer is the preferred mod utility for installing these mods if you plan to use a heavy load.

Long run? I also heard it causes problems with outfit studio and devious devices. I just want to cut down on the worship of MO. I'm using NMM and have 310 mods installed with no problems. Some people do it manually which is fine too. Now define heavy modding.

When you want to locate particular assets that are conflicting.. such as scripts, nif files, textures...  some of those are modified by multiple mods.

In these cases, you may one to use scripts from one mod, while using nif files from another mod.  Mod organizer makes it much easier to identify these types of conflicts by showing you the dominant file being used as well as all other potential files that can be used in your load order.

You cannot do this with other organizers.   You would have to view the files individually by hand.  Mod organizer does this for you.   It lets you temporarily disable any of these assets by hiding them if you wish.  These types of modification manipulations are not required with light modding, but when you get many mods in your load order... the potential for these conflicts rises.

You may be using a mod that overwrote Lydias head nif.. when all you wanted was some other thing changed.. like a custom armor.   In this case you can maintain the armor set while disabling the nif file that you do not want to use.

If you really want to dig into your mods and hand select the assets, then mod organizer is the way to go.   If you just want to fire, and forget... you don't need it.   It's not really worship, but a true fact that mod organizer handles these types of things far better.   At the same time I am aware that not everyone really wants to manipulate these assets on their own... in those cases I agree, you do not need MO.   So I stand by my statement... if you wish to really dig into modding, then you need MO.

You heard wrong, and again the amount of people worship MO is because it works exactly as it says it does, and NMM does not, particularly when trying to uninstall something.

EDIT: Just found Ordinator, thanks to srayesmanll. Gonna give this one a shot, looks like it might be a lot of fun. Some of those new perks sound really intriguing. Thanks man

Check another mod from the creator of Ordinator, he made great mods, those are my favorites :

- Summermyst (more enhancement)

- Imperious (better racial power, and mini quest to improve racial power)

- Thunderchild (add more shout and shrine to improve it)

- Aurora (Improved Standing Stone)

- Apocalypse (more magic)

- Sacrosanct (better vampire perks and gameplay)

I'm a NMM user also.

I tried switching to MO a few months back and had all kinds of issues with it. I assume my problems were more due to my inexperience with the program than anything else, but I spent several hours trying to sort out what seemed like the most basic of issues before finally giving up and nuking my Oldrim install from orbit, and starting fresh again with NMM.

I'm not an advanced modder by any stretch of the word, but for the most part I understand how NMM operates and how you have to be careful to install things in the correct order. I also understand that with NMM, there is always a risk that if I go a bit too mod-crazy or install something that hasn't been properly tested with other mods I'm running, there's a risk that something might not uninstall correctly and I might have to do a full reinstall. Thus far, I'm running about 150 mods for Oldrim and with my relatively careful selections (mostly based on other user recommendations like those in this thread--thanks for that!) I haven't had any serious problems. I would wager a guess that 150 mods is a pretty low number considering the enormity of what's available, though.

For me, MO was more of a headache than anything. Again, I know that's probably just because I wasn't very familiar with the software, but I didn't find it super intuitive when coming from NMM. If in the future NMM starts giving me problems or I'm running into incompatibilities or inconsistencies which MO could easily correct, I might make the switch. But for now, I'll just go with what I know. :)

Can we not get into a ridiculous argument about which mod manager is the best? MO is better for forcing things to work, NMM is better if you want something simple and plan on vetting your mods for compatibility. Obviously the best is Vortex.

As for mods that I can't live without, most of EnaiSiaion's mods are staples in my load order, the Unofficial Patch, Alternate Start, SkyUI. I'm doing a Legacy of the Dragonborn playthrough at the moment and I don't know how I'm going to live without it when I decide to base an upcoming load order on something else.

I never said any Mod Manager is the best. I only said that Mod Organizer is overrated.

This is sounding like TES5 Edit.

Long run? I also heard it causes problems with outfit studio and devious devices. I just want to cut down on the worship of MO. I'm using NMM and have 310 mods installed with no problems. Some people do it manually which is fine too. Now define heavy modding.

You heard wrong, and again the amount of people worship MO is because it works exactly as it says it does, and NMM does not, particularly when trying to uninstall something.

I heard wrong? How? Now you aren't wrong but uninstalling generally works so long as you do it one at a time and if I do have the need I just delete an esp file in my skyrim data folder and call it good.

Or INSTALLING something too big. It will crash and then refuse to install anything from then on. Even MO2, despite its unfinished state, seems less buggy than Nexus Mod Mismanager.
