Start Skyrim without Steam with SKSE?

So I wanted to know if I can start Skyrim without having to log into Steam every time using SKSE.

I use Nexus Mod Manager and even if I select "Launch SKSE" instead of "Launch Skyrim" (through official launcher) I still have to sign in to launch the game.

I understand why it's there, and it never was a problem before, but now every time the official launcher loads up it randomly de-selects all of my Nexus Manager mods and I have to run LOOT again just to get it to work!

So I'd like the process to go from:

1. Open NMM

2. Select "Launch SKSE"

3. Sign in to Steam

4. Wait for Steam to load official Skyrim launcher

5. Close official Skyrim launcher

6. Re-active all mods in NMM

7. Run LOOT

8. Close LOOT

9. Select "Launch SKSE"

10. Finally play game

To:

1. Open NMM

2. Select "Launch SKSE"

3. Play game

I paid for the Legendary Edition on Steam so it's not a pirated copy either!

Thanks in advance if you know what to do!

The only way to launch Skyrim without Steam is to crack it.

You could just shorten the process by running Steam before you try to launch Skyrim through SKSE. That will mean you no longer have to re-activate your mods and the standard launcher will not run.

Also, you don't need to start NMM to use SKSE.

So the process will be:

1. Login to Steam

2. Run SKSE.exe

3. Play

I'm pretty sure we shouldn't be providing answers to your original question because the same answers will provide insight into piracy.

What's wrong with launching Steam?  It has a minimal performance impact when running in the background.  Just set it to start with your computer and never worry about it again.  You can even set it to run in Offline Mode if you're worried about not having a connection, having a bandwidth cap, etc.

Of course if you just launch the game trough its official launcher it will ruin your loadorder..... thats why nobody uses it.

What do you even talk about? you open NMM click on launch skse and are good to go that is the standart NMM shouldnt even start the standart launcher.

NMM shouldnt start the official launcher to begin with. Just rename the skyrimlauncher.exe to NOTskyrimlauncher.exe that way it shouldnt be able to be launched as NMM and other programs need the correct filename. If you want to be save you can cut it out and place it in some extra backup folder. The official launcher is completly obsolete and unnecessary so do as said and NMM cant run it anymore even tough it shouldnt run it anyway.

If you whyever need it again you can recover it by naming it back or copy it back depending on what you choosed to do.

For the steam login nobody will help you with that login in steam is necessary after login you can set yourself to offline if you dont want people see you play skyrim whyever.

Steam offline mode .

That's actually a solution but it's inconvenient for me to keep switching between the two to browse the games and talk to friends.

That's exactly what I've had to do for a while to book the game, Nexus launches the Steam Skyrim launcher which all of a sudden changes my load order, it never used to change my load order at all before and it was a mild inconvenience at best, since it started to randomly change my load order it took way too long to start the game so I asked how to bypass it; your idea to rename the Skyrim launcher worked because it stopped Steam from opening the game, so thanks a lot for your help with this!

You can just rename it back.... I allready told you the skyrim launcher is not supposed to be used nor started it will allways mess up your loadorder it even resets changes in your skyrim.ini you made by hand.

So you're welcome for that suggestion that is nothing but a workaround for someone that is not able to click the right exe... You fail to launch skyrim, but talk back to me like that just lol fix it yourself.

I helped hundreds of people nearly all of my posts are in the tech support, but I did never stumble over someone that talks back to a suggestion sarcastic because he is making the mistake that leads to it not working as intended...

I just go on playing by starting my Mod organizer and click on launch skse, good luck.

Dont even think about a reply seriously

Dude I wasn't even being sarcastic I was genuine when I was saying renaming the launcher worked lol, by renaming the launcher it stopped Steam from being able to open it, which stopped it changing my load order, I was actually thanking you, apologies if it came off the wrong way.

Just to clear up any confusion:

I use NMM, there are two options "Launch Skyrim" (Launches SkyrimLauncher.exe) and "Launch SKSE" (Launches SKSE_loader.exe)

These are the only two ways that I know of to start the game.

If I launch SKSE_loader.exe, either on it's own or through NMM, it starts Steam and when Steam starts after this it automatically loads SkyrimLauncher.exe for some reason.

This has always been fine because it never used to affect my load order at all, it just started recently.

I'm not clicking the wrong exe it's that Steam starts the game whether I like it or not, which is why I started this thread.

Seriously my bad in this case you often have to deal with stupid awnsers and I let them trigger me because I take them serious so again, my bad. Now I feel bad.

So it works now at least is what I hear out of that? as someone else allready said see if the launcher also starts if steam allready runs when you launch it via skse. If the renaming works well never change a running system.

Edit:

So instead of starting NMM and start game + steam by launching the skse from NMM try to start steam before then launch it and see if the launcher still comes up (it shouldnt) if it dosent work, but the renaming works well just keep it at that. You can rename it back anytime.

Hey, don't worry about it - I just read it back and I can see how it might come across that way. Renaming it did work pretty well for a while, but as it happens I tried again today and Steam just downloaded a new SkyrimLauncher.exe as it couldn't find the one I renamed

Signing into Steam first actually works well, it doesn't open the Skyrim launcher at all and goes straight to SKSE, so that's a great suggestion, I just wish it was possible not to involve Steam at all. I swear I must have tried signing into Steam first as I've been playing Skyrim on and off since it was released, but maybe not!

Thanks for your help, it's a much quicker process now

What's wrong with Steam is what's corruption in Valve. Not everyone wants to be constantly wired and controlled and forced being online by today's companies. If this is wrong by choosing offline/standalone, their policies are apparently and politically violating humanity and independence where the law should not have protected such business profit. Skyrim is apparently a game which does not necessarily need Steam to facilitate its infrustructure, but Steam only serves as copyright for business profit and protection of their market. In this way, there is no benefit on the player/user side and their ways of protecting their assets are not appropriate.

Even offline mode needs internet connection to keep periodically updates and your PC software evnetually being controlled by them, not by you.

@mineme

I agree completely. It's all about control. I've been watching it grow over the years. They started this DRM crap hoping to stop piracy ( or so they claimed). That's a lost cause. The pirates will always find a way. It's not just games, it's everywhere you look nowadays. It (government and big companies) seem to be pushing us towards a country where everything is done on line, no personal interaction.  Don't get me wrong I'm not anti government. I think this is still the greatest country there is. The companies want it because they shut down actual stores (a lot less people to pay, more money for their bigwigs), it happened where I live, first sears closed down then all other the other stores in the mall left. Now I see that some small shops have shown up in it.

No interaction between people means no sharing of thoughts, concerns, or ideas. Which leads to no development of trust or strong bonds, without these people won't band together to boycott a company or vote a politician out of office. Here's some evidence that will show how little they think of the people. I think it was maybe five years ago I was on my way to work  and heard the news on the radio it mentioned how congress had voted to not give people on social security a raise, I thought that sucks. It was 3 or 4 weeks later I was on the way to work again and I heard how congress had voted their raise through. So the people barely scraping by on a pittance don't need a raise. But the people in congress that are already wealthy, get a LARGE paycheck, free healthcare ( If I remember correctly), free security, and who knows what else have to get their raise. If that doesn't show people where we stand, I don't know what will.
