Diagnosing a CTD on New Setup - Maybe I'm missing something..

Hello all!
 
I've recently set up skyrim on a new PC and got it back to it's overly modded state.. I am pretty experienced with modded setups but I seem to be missing something here.
 
 

 

The Problem:

 

Skyrim is crashing after loading the character creation menu. I hit "new game" wait for it to load, then it crashes.

 

I've got close to 255 mods, load order sorted, bashed patch created, textures optimized, and It's a fresh installation. I don't get a crash at the main menu and my load order seems to open in TES5Edit and Wyre.. I use ENB as well. I used BethINI to set up my .ini's.. I can't think of any other information to include that might be helpful.

I imagine the problem might be the load order, however I used LOOT to sort. Anyway, all help is appreciated.

Try the following, I had the same problem. Disable the HentaiCreatures.esp. Do not uninstall, just disable it. The modder also describes the problem in More Nasty Critters. 

If you start a new game with 255 mods is naturally a crash almost pre-programmed. A new game which loads 255 mods at once is enormous work for the engine.

That is true. In fact, you can disable a whole bunch of mods, a couple categories and their reqs and dependancies. Then once you get your game going, start enabling them piece by piece.

 

Also, you seem to be missing FNIS creatures, don't see its esp file in your load order.

 

In addition, I hope you have this on Win 7 64, or have the new memory fix for Win 10 and are on the MS Insider program, otherwise just straight out forget it, you'll never play this with only 4 gigs of RAM. If you're unfamiliar with the 4 gig Win 10 limitation, see other threads about it on this site, or jsut google it. It is irrelevant how much ram / vram you have, skyrim 32 bit on win 10 is limited to gigs at this time, fix is coming but won't be in until the fall creator's update.

 

You should also get rid of the HighRes packs from bethesda, they are absolute and utter unoptimized crap. Just use ordenator at the beginning of install once you set up your base skyrim and cities / towns / villages, then download and install any of the big texture mods, skyrim optimization project is very popular, then do skse, skyui, etc. then do skeletons, bodies, body textures, then outfits, then all else. Load into the game and test out a section each time you install a batch of mods, so you know what to remove when one starts giving you trouble. You should install stuff in that order.

 

How many animations do you have total ? Are you running FNIS XXL ? Should you be ? Remember SL mods are not the only mods that uses anims, even XPMSE has some.

 

Cool it down a bit on the ENBs, weather, flora, etc. remember your ram limits and that the whole game has to fit in it, not just those but also your textures, animations, scripts, everything.

 

How many hairs do you have total ? I am unfamiliar with a lot of your mods, what otehr then apachii hair, brow, eye, face packs do you use ? If its too many your game will crash at character creation. there is a limit but I forgot what it is, I have hit it several times.

The fnis creature esp you can not see. Such an esp does not exist anywhere.

Problem: 64-bit Mod Organizer Malfunction.
Solution: Use 32-bit version of MO for now (07/06/17)

I will try that. Are you also suggesting I should be disabling MNC?

I was pretty sure my load order is 253 or so. I made sure of that before I started trying to diagnose.

I do have FNIS creatures installed. I don't remember how many animations but I know it was only a couple hundred it seemed. I re-ran it and got over 3000 . I think I have 2 hair mods. I looked into the RaceMenu patch but it didn't help the issue.. Scripts however, I know I have a lot.

 

I also have Windows 7, 64-bit. Don't know why I didn't include that up there.

 

HighRes texture pack is overwritten by the vanilla optimized textures, right below it. I'm pretty sure they just need the .esp present.

It's worth mentioning that I set the game up with the STEP guide. I also had a similar setup with a graphics card that had 1gb (obviously used smaller textures) and I had it functioning quite well.

I will look into those mods that need to be disabled.. If either of you have a list, that would be awesome; otherwise I can put google to work.

EDIT: I disabled the HentaiCreatures.esp and my game goes to Char Creation but it's a black screen with sound. I tried the sound fix https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/456358-how-to-fix-crashing-in-windows-7-guide/ but setting the sound to 48000Hz and 16-bit caused me a crash the first time and the same issue the second time. I tried the Studio quality setting just now with the same issue - black screen. I'll keep playing around with it.

 

Edit 2: I believe that the problem resides in my Mod Organizer installation.. I'm using a 64-bit version of the program and it's causing a lot of executables to crash. I went to the older version and I can get to the character creation menu. Everything looks and seems okay until I switch to female; when I do, the game freezes shortly after the female character appears.
