Thats a very interesting discussion, sorry that I am late I have been checking that website daily, but for some reason didn't get a notification for new posts, well I decided to see whats going on and damn a whole page of content, thank you! We are going to add a lot of things and maybe change some of the existing stuff, our biggest problam is to figure out what kind of quest we should implement in the game. We already have a few ideas but if you guys can actually give us some information what kind of quests would be good to implement /or send me a reading material where I can see ideas.

 

Also we really want to make the quests in a way where they don't seem content-blocking, but instead the player should have fun (in the lewd way of course) while doing these quests.

Well for the start I would say sticking to the "You're the son of a blacksmith and get into the villageto deliver weapons"- Quest is still quite fitting I would say... Even... well... One guy without any form of packing horse or wagon... wouldn't be able to deliver that many weapons. Maybe you could change it to just delivering one weapon.

 

And I would say it's a noble sword for the Jarl of the village, because... why else would he order from a blacksmith from another village? The father of the character must be quite a popular blacksmith in that region.

 

So if you stick with the story that everyone except the daughter of the Jarl is dead or taken you may build up on this. After fetching the gold for her the most realistic thing would probably to offer her to come to your village... I mean what else should you two want in the village all by yourself? (Except for having some private time of course, if she's really that easy to have... but that... I don't think that would happen so easily).

 

Back in your village you would introduce her to your father and to the Jarl of your village so she can convince him to help. He would then eventually accept and state that he has not that many fighters to spare. So he will ask for volunteers in the village to take up arms and join the search and possible fight to save the people of the village. 

Maybe on this point you could give the player 2 options:

1. Naaaaah, I'm not a warrior. I'll help to spread the word and will help in any peaceful way I can (Maybe help your father craft the needed weapons, look for weapons, convince people to join the party, eventually travel with the party and help them by finding food out in the field, stuff like that.

2. By Odin, finally a chance to take up arms and become a warrior! This would mean you would... of course still help finding volunteers in the village (and maybe also further around), craft your own weapon with your fathers help (or help him craft yours). And while others do the work that you would've been doing in the first option, you'll have a lot of training fights. Higher ranked men of the Jarl will be training the volunteers of course. Can't just let them go into a possibly violent situation without having a clue about weapons and how to use them, can ya?

Of course this would probably be more work to develop since you then need a combat system and all.

 

To make both of the choices interesting already in earlier versions I would recommend that the player may find some attractive women during these quests that he can socialize with and eventually get them to like him enough to have some sexy action with them. Of course just fucking them and then fucking off won't be a thing they would like you to do. But of course it could be an option. You mentioned that also aggressive or forced sex may be an option because many people like that. Well... Nothing's wrong with some optional stuff. As long as it's optional.

 

Oh and of course to impress the daughter of the Jarl you would need much more effort. I would make it kind of an end-game objective. Well not really end game... But... require something to achive. She'd probably be impressed by a great warrior. Not by a low craftsman or a Freedman who just had one fight... After this first quest you should of course have more opportunities to prove yourself in combat, get better, earn money with it, get better gear and eventually become a warlord with his very own war party. That would surely impress her and get you closer to her, um... to her private quarters...

But of course this would be something for later development. I'm sure even the first option of the first quest would be quite a lot of work.

These are some cool ideas for later development, but we really wanted to keep them on that island for awhile, before moving to the next one. We have been planning to add at least a few villages on that island + wild animals, which will mean a couple of more quests and sex scenes. If we have the sex scenes as an end objective that won't be what our supporters will want to see, because they are very interested in the nsfw scenes. So the current island is pretty big and empty, more things can be added before moving to the next one.

Well that's what I meant. I just mean making seducing this particular character a little harder, for the sake of plausibility. You can of course place loads of other characters on the way for early NSFW content.

Also what I've been describing could all happen on this island. No need fo another Island for that... Except if you plan the attackers to be located on another island. 

 

But still... I guess it didn't come out well: In my idea I actually see the preparation for the journey as a LONG quest. So you would be in your village and the surrounding area a lot. Either if you just choose to be a crafter or choose to be a warrior. I didn't mean to suggest just having 10 minutes preparation and then go fight. That's not what I meant. 

You could fill several hours of gameplay with the important prepwork. Also... Who says there can't be any attacks from hostiles during this period? Maybe even those who attacked the village of the woman  would attack you during preparation. You could fend it off and then it's pretty clear who it was, where to go and... how much to train before going there.

 

That brings me another idea... If you plan to have the attackers located on another island, part of the prepwor would also be building a ships or multiple ships (well... guessing that we're not talking about a clash of real armies, just a fight between one village and a band of raiders only one ship should do the trick.)

Of course here are several things that you, as the developer, needed to decide. You could do building the ship 2 different ways: Make it a long go there and fetch this so we can build it quest or you could make the act of building the ship an interactive thing. That would be harder of course.

Thanks, Im watching that video right now, very informative, Ive also been watching other stuff about Vikings. Any idea what kind of wild animals were used for hunting back then? Wolves, deers etc?

 

 

Deer/elk/caribou, bear, wolf, aurochs (think Texas Longhorn meets Brahma cow) and even aquatic critters like seals and whales.

 

i'd also like to point out that the Norse were widely traveled and not adverse to scavenging from the dead, which could lead to a Viking being equipped with items from as far east as India, as far west as New England/eastern Canada, and as far south as Mediterranean Africa. admittedly rare and unlikely to be all on the same person (or even in the same village) but still possible.

 

there's also a theory that Quetzalcoatl's "winged serpent" form was actually a Drakkar or Knorr and that his human form (described as a giant with a face ringed by fire) was just a ginger Norseman who had lost his razor.

This month, both of the builds (public and backer) are the same due to technical issues. If you click "M" you would see a blue circle around the quest items (when you are close to them). It's kinda hard to move while having the map open, so we added a mini-map for the next update.

 

Can you tell me which quest you are currently doing, so I could help you finding the quest items?

 

In case you are on the first quest with the chests, here is where to find all of the quest items - Link

Keep in mind that you have to find them one by one so chest01 -> chest02 -> chest03 (This was also fixed and they'll spawn at the same time in the next build).

hello,

I got 1.3 & found the village right away! yeah! smooth walking & looking around! cool.

Turned off shadows! yeah!

 

I found sexy sad girl. hottie! Chatted.

the npc text could be bigger. there's a lot of extra space.

 

the character choice dialogue is small & sux down bottom. on top would be nice & wouldn't hurt my neck to bend down to read. Also, the text boxes are darkly shaded on each side & with longer sentences it makes it hard to see the 1st & last words!

 

Now I am wandering the woods looking for 3 boxes! I am lost & not even sure i'm in the right area or not. Need a map, quest icons &/or a button that when pressed turns your head in the direction of where you need to go. Like a visual lock-on.

 

Please consider. I don't wanna wander in the woods forever as a Viking nomad!

 

Will there be resource gathering? this game makes me wanna chop wood & cook fresh killed meat!?
