Hi,

I'm looking into how to create custom poses to use in-game. I've already managed to dig up a couple of tutorials:
http://www.loverslab.com/topic/70538-skyrim-custom-pose-tutorial/
http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php?title=Blender_create_and_add_custom_poses&oldid=1999

I have a couple of questions though that an experienced modder might be able to help me out with.

1. The LL tutorial (1st link) uses a UNP body to create the poses. Would doing so mean only a UNP body would be able to carry out the poses? If so is there a way to do the same process with a normal, CBBE, 7B, etc body instead?

2. The default 3D go-to seems to be Blender. Is there any particular reason for this or is it just convenient. I'm quite familiar with Maya and 3Ds max but not blender so just wondering if I could use one of those instead.

3. Neither tutorial really goes through how to make a collection of poses. I imagine this is just as simple as repeating the process for each extra pose and giving them different file names but the quote "I don't know how to do more than one person pose. Sorry." at the top of the LL tutorial makes me sceptical.

Any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated. If I do produce anything worthwhile out of this endeavour then I'll be sure to upload it here for all to use.

Cheers,

1. Absolutely, the UNP body in there is purely for reference material. When you export the pose the body won't be exported at all.

2. If you're familiar with 3ds Max it's probably better to do in there using pornphile's rigs, but like with animating you need to export it using the right plugins. Only 3ds Max 2010 and 2012 support this plugin (and the plugin got taken down by microsfot), most people just use Blender because it comes with less hassle and because it's free of course.

3. As you say making a collection of poses is as easy as repeating the process with different names, however you'd need to create an .esp and understand how to trigger them in game through scripting if you want to add more then one pose simultaneously in the game though.

Ahh ok. I've used blender before so I'll get along with it but I've been using Maya for the past two years and 3Ds before then so I'm a little rusty.

As for making an .esp and using scripts do you know of any good tutorials for that sorta thing? I used to know a little bit about CC and the like back in the day but I'm pretty much a newbie again at the moment.

Thanks anyway!

Sorry I only know how it works, I haven't done anything myself in the vicinity of scripting nor did I research how to. (I just know the principles of scripting, but not the langauges)
