Soooo... I think my game reached a breaking point.

Recommended Posts

For some reason, my heavily modded game keeps crashing like crazy. I've gotten quite used to it cause I have some 200+ active mods, many of which are massively scripted.

However, after my usual morning gamebreak, the game invented a new problem. None of my keybinds get accepted, but only in Sexlab mods. All others are working fine. SL mods completely ignore the fact that I have a keyboard (but checking random boxes works after reinstalling the SL framework).

I checked the Papyrus log which had 11 MB of OMG THERE'S A CUMSHOT THINGY BLOCKING EVERYTHING!!!11!!, so I kicked SL Cumshot out of the game. After that, everything else worked but still my keybinds get ignored, and now the Papyrus log has 22 MB of this:

which makes me assume that I broke SkyUI.

I can post my mod list, too, if you want. I hope someone can nudge me in the right direction to fix this.

Yes, stack dumps break stuff. Maybe not always important things, and in some cases it even starts working again, but that's an exception. In general, this stuff is baked into your save in a broken state and will stay broken.

How to fix it: Start a new game with less mods or load a save before the stack dumps happened the first time, but most likely it will happen again, just braking other stuff. That's it.

You can try if things start to work again after save game cleaning and stuff, that might or work or finally kill your save or something in the middle. But that's a workaround, not a fix, even if your problems are gone.

Thanks for replying! Since this is on a lvl 74 char who's almost done getting a Steam achievement, I didn't want to give up on her just yet. So I tried deactivating everything SL related, then I loaded a save on a lvl 1 char, waited until all mods were done complaining, then saved and reactivated the mods, ran FNIS, then loaded my lvl 74 save. I have no idea why it worked but it worked. :)

You should probably also run your save through one of the save-cleaners a few times, just to be safe. This is the kind of thing that results from/in (probably both) broken script instances hanging around in your save, which could lead to even more issues down the road, repeat ad infinitum.

Yes, I always use the save game cleaner and had just used it to repair the save from some script catastrophies (as I said, it's heavily overmodded ^^ ). There were no new script errors, just the overflowing Papyrus log. But it's fine and stable now. :)
