Enhanced Character Edit in 2017 ??

Recommended Posts

Well my opinion is ECE got better customization for anime like character while Racemenu have a realism character slider, in 2017 i'm still using ECE though

so if you wanna anime look character try ECE with RAN's addon and with Tania playable race, but if you wanna realistic look character choose Racemenu

The best way to know is to test each one and settle with the one you prefer.  I have a clean save that does not have any mods installed for testing mods that makes changes to the PC and/or NPCs particularly their appearances, race, abilities, animations, etc.

You can make realistic-looking characters with ECE just look at the Bijin mods by RxkX22.  I'm sure you can make a reasonable anime-looking character with RaceMenu, but it does not include the additional face morphs by Ran (made for ECE), so the results may not be nearly as close as it would be with ECE.

Of course, other factors play into getting what you want like textures (body/face, eyebrows, eyes, tintmasks), lighting, and ENB.

ECE has a few sliders Racemenu does not have, and overall i like the vertex edit better. So if you need what ECE has that Racemenu doesn't, i guess so.

Personally I use both cause my preset relies on some of the sliders Racemenu doesn't, and after i've finished my preset I port it to Racemenu to use features there that ECE doesn't have.

Agreed, but unfortunately with ECE vertex edit you can't edit other things such as the eyelashes, or the mouth (teeth) mesh.

Guess that's true, never thought of that since i've never had the need to use such ahah.

My take on them is this:

Race menu has more options for tattoos and face paints and things like that.

ECE has more sliders for some areas of the face and is better organized (at least more than the last version of Race Menu I tries)

I don't use the Vertex Editor or any of the tools like that, just the sliders so I have stuck with ECE.

The way I see it is this...

ECE = less for more.

RM = more for less.

I like both but I prefer ECE even though I use RM only for the features ECE does not have. I made far better faces with ECE back in the day when I used it. And with RM I have to do far more work to achieve a face I want, which is why for me ECE = less for more and RM = more for less. Neither are bad, it's just a matter of what you are going for. If ever ECE had the same mod support for it like XPMSE, I would switch back in a jiffy. But that is never going to happen. Because it seems the author has zero intention to ever expand ECE from what it is. It's just a pipe dream.

I suggest try out both. I would use Mod Organizer and have one profile use RaceMenu and the other use Enhanced Character Edit so you can switch back and forth with an ease to test them.

Imo ECE/RM =/= character style. It depends on your character creation skills, tools didn't matter.

Here's some of my actual animu-waifu-looking characters created with Racemenu only (Still not as good as the chars made by the Japanese but this is good enough imo).

Back to the topic. QuietPippin, you can create anything from animu waifus to porn stars with ECE or RM as long as you have the skill. I'd say you should stick with whatever you're comfortable with.

Yup i guess is up to your skill to do the customization for your characters, but when i try to make that by Racemenu the slider is really different from what i'm always using when in ECE, maybe i'm not really good and familiar with Racemenu that's why i'm still stick with ECE, but yeah either 2 of these customization character mods they have plus and minus each of it, you can make anime waifu or whore PC, milf or even loli character by both of em

Yes and getting used to the tool we're working with is definitely important too. It's definitely normal if the results are meeh if we work with a tool that we're not comfortable with. This is why i myself would rather suggest people to choose or stick with the tool that they're comfortable with whenever this kind of topic comes up. It could bring our skill to it's fullest potential and helped creating the character that we want.

There only reason to use ECE over Racemenu nowadays is if you want the easiest way to make an anime ''esque'' character. You can do it in racemenu too but it takes more work.

Overall id say racemenu since ECE isnt offering anything that racemenu doesnt have aswell as racemenu is beeing supported by alot more mods than ece.

So I unistalled racemenu and tried out ECE for a bit         ... clean setup

I went through all the sliders and options didn't see anything special really.

 I play on pad so ECE just is not that user friendly compared to RM on that part.  It's also missing a lot of features I love with XPS specific scaling (not just boobs and butts)  , and Racemenu .... No leg to body proportion sliders, specific UUNP sliders, Color sliders are multiple rows instead of being in a dedicated place, textures/overlay menus.  Everything just seems off.  The Vertex edit thing looks cool but how does it differ from the sculpting in RM,   ... also another killer for RM is HD Citrus head support which ECE does not have and the author will not support.  It keep asking me to save my preset over and over.  ECE seems kinda basic like it's not meant to be used with a more newer/advanced bodytype like UUNP.

Racemenu seems to be more equipped to handle UUNP special , and if you have lots of hair mods, overlay/tattoo mods, SOS for men/Women. If I had a basic set up I guess ECE would be sufficient but that's not the case.

tlr .. Felt like a step backward compared to RM

Also I think you can make any kind of ECE face with Racemenu  ... just depends how dedicated you are to create it

Sticking with RM

I made my characters solely using Racemenu. Never got the hang of ECE even though i really want to, Could never figure out how to port faces from Racemenu to ECE but i might some day if i find the time and energy to do it.
