Any chance we can have a pinned topic about good practice before modding Sims 3?

I've not modded Sims 3 for a long time but feel like I want to get back into it. The trouble is though, I know the game runs terribly even on modern hardware and I want to be able to find a single page that tells you the ins and outs of pre-modding preparation and how to keep the game running smoothly. So a tutorial that tells you what to do to ensure that the game runs optimally (If you've modded Skyrim with Mod Organizer before then you know what I mean). I know about NRAAS tools/mods but what else can be done?

Essentially I wanted to know if there was a single page that has all this information and, if not, then we could set one up here. What do you guys/gals think?
