Modern bags or backpacks?

I was looking for a modern style bag or pack of some kind, like a messenger bag or small hiking backpack you might see someone using in real life. Normally I try to keep modern things out of my Skyrim but I've had the urge to roleplay a real world person sucked into the game and wanted to put together a contemporary outfit to start out in. The Aether Suite and Hepsy's Basic Wears have got me mostly sorted for clothes, I'd just like a modern bag to match.

 

There are some great messenger bags for Fallout 4, but I haven't come across any similar ones for Skyrim. Anyone know of anything?

No, but perhaps you might be able to convert those Fallout 4 bags into Skyrim for personal use?  A bit of work possibly but afterwards you would be able to port more things from Fallout 4 to Skyrim as you desired. (Within reason of course)

I was thinking about that but can only find guides for converting meshes from Skyrim to Fallout 4, not the other way around. With the new material function and different texture format I wasn't sure about how to reverse engineer the changes and thought I'd probably make a total hash of it. It's definitely something I'm going to look into, though, so thanks for the suggestion.

 

I'm still having a search around but I'll report back if I have any luck.

Retexture if needed. In fact, you can probably coopt a texture from something like Devious Devices shiny items (ebonite) so long as you don't distribute your mashup, if you need a more modern look. Honestly, any of those could pass as a modern backpack with a rustic style.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'm going to grab a bag or two from both of those last two to put in my mash up and try out, as well as have a go at converting a FO4 messenger bag. That sinModernClothing mod has lots of other things that would fit perfectly as well. Even mp3 players! I'm not sure how my googling missed that one...

If you are willing to do the work and understand some of the process, I'd ask for support in a new thread with the instructions to convert something to something else. Show what you have (tutorial wise) and let those know that you do know how to do that just need the needed plugins and steps to convert the other way.

 

let the brains here on the site give you the info   Most here that ask for this stuff aren't willing to do the added work, reason for the added showing that you did your homework and will do the work so that the really smart here will come out of hiding and give you some guidance.

Thanks again for your post, ritualclarity. I might very well go ahead and do that at some point. For the time being I've found a perfect bag in the sinModernClothing mod, so I've unfortunately got a ready-made excuse for being lazy!

Hey, take the excuse and run!

No need in getting into this conversions process (can't even release it without the author's permission) for personal use if you can avoid it. Cool if it is public and others can enjoy the work you put in but it is a shit ton of work for just a personal task... However very cool though.
